  1. I agree it should be changed, I had to turn on locking of ground targets to current target, but even still it is kinda janky. It shoots 3 projectiles with a weird spread. They need to all be closer to the target, have a faster travel speed. or just shoot 1 projectile with a faster travel speed and larger explosion, maybe even a poison combo field? It needs to be improved either way.
  2. I was very excited when they announced druid - I thought having a dedicated support class would really open up doors for ranger and change the game for the better. Seems druid is pigeon holed into being a healer but they can't do it as well as others. I would love to see druid changed to a support focused role instead of healing. Maybe even a full rework of Astral Form, maybe steal some inspiration from Specter spec (emphasis on "some").
  3. whelp.... that didn't work crashed almost immediately when I loaded the instance. Going to do something else for now, but kinda need this achievement.....
  4. Per advice of someone in map chat, I am going to attempt repairing the client and see. I will report back my results. Kinda funny this chapter is called "fallen hopes" because mine certainly have. 😵
  5. Ugh... I've tried a bunch, same issue. If I have to listen to Kas and Marj talk about their feelings one more time I am gonna lose it....
  6. Okay this is specific to ranger pets but mainly on Untamed - If you have 2 of the same type of pet and use a pet skill, swap to second pet, that same skill is on cool down. I understand if you are using 2 of the same weapon for each weapon set having the skill on cool down, but why is my Alpine wolf to tired to leap at a target if my hyena just leaped? I understand this could be abused in gamemodes like PVP with tailswipe. But in all other instances I think this is silly. It would really open up pet combinations for untamed and allow them large burst or CC potential. Maybe I am way off base, but logically this doesn't make sense to me.
  7. While in the instance the game randomly crashes to desktop. Only this instance and seems random how long. Happens on 2 different computers.
  8. I'd be okay with that change, but I'll be anxious about it until it happens.
  9. Leveling use a tanky pet like bear and use longbow and greatsword. Id suggest berserker gear for that setup. You can check websites like metabattle for builds or just some inspiration. Also a few good youtubers who are rangers, check out paper roll’s channel. Once you level more you can start messing with builds and come up with something all your own. If you are feeling squishy, you could always use short bow and go for trailblazer or dire gear.
  10. I tend to stay with pet unleashed state and then unleash ranger, use ambush, and treat it like a burst rotation, then back to unleashed pet as default state. I am playing more of a condi build though so unleashing ranger doesn’t yield me much dmg increase just access to the ambush skill.
  11. I hear ya... Every patch I get excited that my class will be improved or have something new and it is either: A. A bug fix I wasn't aware needed to be fix because I never experienced the bug. B. A bug fix that I was aware of, however I am STILL experiencing the bug, AKA wasn't actually fixed. C. A nerf................................................................................................................................. I don't want to complain or be negative. The ranger sub forum has enough of that (rightfully so...) But I do totally understand where you are coming from, the personal build up when you see patch notes and then the let down. I am hoping that the big June balance patch with the spirit and banner rework is HUGE and explains why they kinda ignore the class right now since they know what is coming. That is what I keep telling myself anyway... reading those patch notes could be really heartbreaking though lol
  12. I've been playing untamed in PVE open world, mostly to give it a chance and "figure it out" so I can provide constructive criticism to the class. It certainly needs something... The one place it really shined was PVP, and although it still seems good there, it did just get nerfed in that regard. On a positive note - Untamed "CAN" be very powerful as a solo class, especially in celestial gear. But I find other ranger builds can do it better. Untamed needs something that defines it as the best version of a ranger for X role, and ideally that is more than just PVP. I was very excited when the spec was announced thinking it would be more PVP and WVW focused. My WVW on ranger was limited to Soulbeast roaming, and swapping to my necro for larger scale play (which I didn't want to do...) Never the less, Untamed in WVW is the same more or less, as soulbeast, can roam fairly well if played right, but ultimately Soulbeast does it better. I am hoping the spirit rework changes things for Core, Druid, SoulBeast, and especially Untamed. The crux of all ranger issues is someone can do it better than us and we have a kitten class mechanic with the pet. So make us better than everyone else at 1 thing that is applicable to all game modes.... OR... make us on par with others and various roles we can do and fix the pet
  13. Not an engi main - but the mechanist class caught my eye so I figured I'd try it out. The large mech always in the way (especially in crowded areas filled with other mechanists) was a bit annoying. Dismissing him is easy enough and crash down is cool calling him in etc.... But it would be cool if out of combat for say 10-15 seconds the mech pulled a transformer move and shrunk down to the size of a jade bot or something.
  14. Is the "Shortbow Soulbeast" build the one you listed or does it vary a bit from that?
  15. The auto attack is strike dmg and gives might, the 2 and 3 weapon skill on axe are Condi with some strike dmg. If you happen to be going Untamed, the Axe unleashed ambush skill is also Condi with some strike.
  16. Cool - that is what I thought, but I was not able to login and check. Previous post said to swap into shouts and I couldn't for the life of me figure out what the ranger shout skills were. kitten rangers need some love
  17. Are "commands" on ranger considered "shouts" ?
  18. Just came across this one from Mukluk, seems pretty solid, I am definitely going to give it a try. Would still love any other input or suggestions. https://mukluklabs.com/gw2-build/li-soulbeast
  19. Hi all, Long time ranger player and have one as my main. Recently I hurt my left hand and have some muscle trauma and nerve damage. I was wondering if there were any tried and true low intensity builds for ranger that people found some success with. I obviously know that an LI build is not a top performing build, but was hoping there was a useable one I could use while my hand recovers. Right now I've been playing Untamed and despite it needing some love and balance, I do enjoy the playstyle. I also really like soulbeast both as DPS and the good old "BoonBeast". If anyone has suggestions I would really appreciate it. Doesn't need to be a "1 button build" but anything that pushes it to the LI side of things. Thanks -M
  20. An on demand option could be cool - But I think when specced for the Ambush mechanic, it can be very strong - so having to coordinate when it is used should require some management of the mechanic. With some balancing / adjustment I could see the ambush mechanic working whenever you swap unleashed instead of just when the ranger unleashes, meaning whenever you press the button and the cooldown for ambush it met, your next attack is an ambush instead of just when the ranger unleashes, this could even be lumped into one of the selected traits? Buuuut I still firmly believe for untamed to be "fixed" or improved, the ambush mechanic isn't the place to start. I agree with your original thoughts that Hammer needs some changes. Personally - I would like to see untamed traits that focus on strike dmg and power builds be useful for condi builds too. Would open the door a bit, could build a super tanky build with trailblazer gear for example. You focus on bleeding and debuffing the mob with conditions while your pet does the strike dmg for example. I would like to see the hammer used as a hybrid weapon with a focus on CC, I would also like to not have all of the skills change with the unleash mechanic, just stick with the ambush mechanic and make 1-5 skills better. An easy way to do this would be having them apply dmging conditions when ranger is unleashed and CC conditions when the pet is unleashed, with some strike damage on both.
  21. I think a few things were mis communicated in your earlier posts, which is why others responded assuming your suggestion nerfed other aspects of the class and other weapons. that said - the unleash ambush mechanic is super easy to use, can be specced for, or somewhat ignored with untamed builds. Untamed def needs some work one way or another, but unleash ambush is only a small facet of the spec and maybe the only solid/good facet of the spec at the moment.
  22. Because people then need to use the hammer instead of other weapons. Less diversity in builds, new Espec requires use of the hammer to be beneficial. Personally I really like the unleash ambush mechanic, especially the axe AOE. That said, I do think hammer needs some love / rework / tweaking. My suggestion would be not having all of the weapon skills change on hammer - instead adjust the numbers a bit for damage - and on ALL weapons, if Ranger is unleashed - each weapon skill would have a small buff to the pet. IE "your pets next attack applies bleed" or something similar to that, 1-5 would each have a different effect with an innate cooldown on the buff. IF the pet is unleashed, each weapon skill 1-5 would provide a soft CC, again with an innate cooldown, and Hammer could have hard CC, since it is the signature weapon of the class. This would make the hammer better, support the stance dancing mechanic with unleashing, fits with the bunny thumper theme they are going for, make other weapons fill the roll to some degree too. They should also make the "Vow of the untamed" trait that increases dmg output increase condition duration also even if it means lowering the strike dmg bonus. I am not a game designer and I am hardly the authority on rangers, but it is my favorite class and I think changes like the ones I listed above would further support the original vision of the class, while also providing more versatility in builds and playstyles off the e spec - granted some number balancing and cooldowns etc would need to be adjusted - but the core mechanic would work I think.
  23. I voted Scepter, but shield would also work for the Espec I envision. New Weapon Shield or Scepter, New Skill type Minions You lose the core mechanic of a pet and instead select 4 pets (one for each skill other than healing skill) Each skill 7-10 can be selected to use whatever pet is in that "slot" signature skill. Whichever pet is in the "elite" spot, also gets a temp buff where they rampage when the skill is used and it is on a longer cool down than normal. This gives the ranger more pets, with the ability to control them. It makes it so if a pet dies, it isn't the end of the world - you could even make it so using the skill brings them back instead of using the the actual ability. Balancing recast as needed. As far as trait line goes, fill it with passive pet healing and pet buffs, so as the ranger does things the pets get stronger. If shield is the weapon, give the ranger defensive bubbles and things like that to protect the pets while they do the dmg. If it is a scepter, give them the ability to target pets and use weapon skills on them that become beneficial, similar to thief new Espec. The rangers F abilities could be a teleport to player, essentially summoning all pets to your location (similar to how when you swap pets, the new pet is next to you) and maybe a pet heal and a pet buff. Think mini commands. --- Originally thought this wouldn't have a place in WVW zerg, which Ranger really needs. But after re reading this thread, I think my idea COULD work in a WVW zerg. Essentially make the ranger useless without "friends" make the pets "friends" and if the ranger is solo, he uses skills to buff up the pets, if in a zerg, kitten the pets and the ranger can buff up the party or zerg and the pets are just some added DPS / cannon fodder. BOOM a pet based class that can zerg.
  24. The water thing is huge, especially in WVW. But it seems Anet treats that as "giving a ranger love" and not the "bug fix" that it actually is. Rangers need some much needed tuning and balance. I hope the Espec has potential... I've held out changing mains this long but the EOD ranger spec will either be what keeps me playing ranger or what makes me retire the class.
  25. New weapon would be mace (ideally both main and offhand). Weapon attacks would be CC and aoe based. I am thinking shockwave aesthetics. New skill type would be shouts, ideally with some condi removal. New class mechanic would give you an F1 F2 F3 similar to guardian with passive effects that can be activated. The skills gain would be based off the pet you select. Thematically, the spirit of the animal you select instead of the active pet. The beast mastery trait line could benefit the passive and active f 123 skills. Idea behind this is it plays into the spirits of animals. Hopefully providing a more bruiser and support play style which would be welcomed in wvw and other large scale play.
