  1. Well tbh after that really distasteful angry outburst you put out in your other thread yesterday I am not sure it really deserves to be taken seriously with an informed response, which is a shame because up until your outburst the thread had been quite supportive and informative towards you and your fellow Russian posters request for Cyrillic support in game.
  2. Interesting article despite being from Kotaku Deride Kotaku all you like, but they've had the insider scoops on multiple occasions. Most being relatively un news worthy imo.. and this new "scoop" demonstrates that - just a big nothing burger imo, lacking in actual detail and as always in US media the good old anonymous sources and Chinese whispers.People leave jobs all the time and rarely get to take work away with them.Has it been one of those years to forget for ANET.. yeah I would say so and not just for the internal/external wrangles being broadcasted by click bait newsflashes, but again its nothing new around the business world.Personally I think the best we can do right now is wish MO and the others well and get behind those now tasked with delivering our fun fixes and trust in hope that the future holds better news for the studio, its employees and us the playing community. However, if things really are hitting the skids for GW2 then at least I personally can say, I have enjoyed the ride I have been on this past decade and more.
  3. Well many people suffer from fear of heights.. best not get a flying mount or a glider. Some players have a fear of blood.... best not kill anything, better to run around chasing them butterflies insteadSome players get travel sickness .. beetles are a no no thenKnife crime is a thing... best get rid of swords, daggers, axes etc, better to suffocate them baddies with a hug. Some players just gotta whine and make excuses about anything these days .. long live the age of the snowflake, here to run ruin over the enjoyment for others whatever that may be. Fear of XYZ tends to be a common reason not to do something. I was once told to take down a birdfeededer. Why? Not because it might attract squirrels or the like. Because some people were afraid of birds. I'm currently playing Neverwinter and the spider mounts are awesome in it.. I've been biting my daughter has been biting her nails for the past 10mins watching me scurry around the screen.. honest. I imagine your daughter is scared if you are biting her ;)Eek.. omg.. don't call da police plz.. gees that is why smart phones are sometimes.. too smart :) Incoming EDIT to that post!!

  5. Pretty sure Mike O'Brien stated it was his decision to leave. We don't know what actually transpired, but if he did get fired, it's not the sort of thing one admits in a public post. It looks better for his reputation to say he left of his own volition. Potential backers or backers he's courting for his new company will have more confidence in investing. So, you believe these potential backers would not be able to find the truth? I'd guess telling fibs would not instill much confidence. This ^ Then again I think those thinking of backing MO in any new venture would only need to look at what he and he cohorts managed to deliver for so long thus making self exit or forced exit kind of irrelevant.. I wonder if this had any bearing on MZ looking a little down in the dumps at the live event.. hmmAnyhow it's all irrelevant from here on in, ANET have a talented team with licence to put forth their own creative juices into the game and that is what they should be judged on, not what someone else did or did not do previously. Not if it was handled the same way the layoffs were- where an ultimatum was given saying positions needed to be cut or they would be cut for Anet at a time, place, and fashion beyond their control. So it's plausible at first being asked to leave and being given the opportunity to go out while saving face that way for all concerned, rather than ignoring the letter and and being the last one to know when a trade magazine with 'insider knowledge' announces that you've been sacked. And either way whether or not someone is going to be able to sniff something out. It's still more frowned upon by former employers and future ones if someone dishes on their former employer after leaving. Then you lose trust and on the off chance you're beautiful upstart dream goes down in flames and you have to go hat in hand for a more mundane job working for someone else chances are nobody will hire you in that field ever again.Again your just making stuff up just for the sake of it.. you or I have no clue as to was has gone down, all we know is MO and others have left/are leaving and something new is on the horizon for them. By the way, what is all this about someone dishing dirt on the company after they leave... do you really see MO as someone that would do that to the very thing he was an instrumental part in creating and making the dream happen for the last 19years... I'd like to think he has a little more up top than that.As for the likes of Kotuku snapping a piece part story together from the whispers and rumours of others, that will most likely already being put onto the hot press for release, whether such a story would be news worthy or even creditable.. well we will all have to wait and judge for ourselves I guess. Nah I am petty sure MO will be just fine, he would have zero reason to lie about anything whether he was removed or left on his own free will. His reputation and that of his co founders and co workers speaks for itself and the legacy of his and their toils lives on through others now, many I would hazard a guess they have helped nurture within ANET.
  6. But.. wut about PvP? It's been neglected for like 3 years already. That's the gamemode that kept me in this game about 3-4 years. Once i noticed PvP is going downhill i quitted. So surely there are more ppl like me. When will they realise real end game is pvp/wvw and address that issue? Anyway. I'm hammering those nails down. Ppl are critics for a reason. If there were no reasons no1 would moan and we'd be happily playing the game and not even going to these forums. For example.. i wish i could just casually like old times join EotM train and chill out. Or i could actually roll a non-meta build on any class and be competitive in PvP. Right... We are way way too far from that. I agree PvP and WvW have suffered... too long and I've been one of those critics. My take is that PvP in GW2 just doesn't have the same appeal, never really has because the game was always marketed for a more casual gaming experience so even though it can be considered end game it's a much smaller following than PvE and WvW (again my take on it). Add to that PvP has been continually corrupted by the ever present win trader's and match up bots, which has soured the experience for many.Www for me is the big looser from their lack of attention to the mode - it had so much potential, whether alliances sorts alot of the issues out, well SOON is all I'm gunna say about that as Forest Gump would say. As for build diversity and balance... it's that moving goal post this g further comicated by trying to cater for all modes at the same time... splitting skills from modes and yeah some better focus on balance has certainly been a move in the right direction but there will always be more work to do cos that's the nature of the beast.
  7. The only thing that would have changed would be "do you think the price is too high" which is another question entirely. But likely equally as important as the others in the poll.... I hazard a guess that for many players that will become the crux of whether to utilise the templates system or not, not whether one part of it should cost over another part.I am all for proactive maintenance over reactive maintenance of product, but until we know all the ins and outs including the costs, its kinda hard to pick an option at the moment. The one thing I would never of expected though is to have it entirely free.. convenience costs even in some of the sub based games these days.

  10. I remember when my first boss left.. I was only a few years out of my degree andt it was a real nervy experience - at least until they offered me a major promotion, pay rise, company car and the opportunity to step up to the plate a few hours later.... that single experience gave me some real impetus and set me on a path I haven't looked back on since... 30 years later my own business has afforded me the luxury to be able to bring up my 2 children on my own following my wife's death, to play games more than I should have many good friends both in the real world and online in game.Give those now tasked with steering this ship and our enjoyment the chance to fail at least before we hammer nails in the coffin... thus far IBS has been pretty decent as updates go - not perfect by any means, but what is perfect these days where everyone is a critic (me included)
  11. Well many people suffer from fear of heights.. best not get a flying mount or a glider.Ironically, for some reason flying mounts and gliders are okay. It's the ledges and narrow planks over chasms that i have trouble with (Cliffside for example can be a real pain).Get gud or get splinters I say... but yeah no cliffs please ANET all must be flat!
  12. With the kind of decisions they are making this year, I see not only they are chasing loyal players away, now game developers and directors couldn't take it too...Actually, it seems MO and the others were working on GW3 for the last 2 years (which means gw2 was meant to be abandoned - that's probably the reason why we got no expac after LS4). https://kotaku.com/source-departing-arenanet-president-was-working-on-pot-1838755217 So, it's not the current decisions that chased those devs away. It's those devs that gave up on this game long ago. "Those devs that gave up on GW2 long ago".... where did you get that from, that's a pretty harsh opinion. Because they were asked or told to move into new product development means nothing of the sort.Well, that was when the decision to not make another expac for gw2 would have been made. And it wasn't NCSoft pulling strings yet then - that happened much later, and exactly in the other direction ("drop everything else and concentrate on gw2"). At that time, it was MOs decision, not anyone else's. Remember, he was not just one of the devs, he was the boss. So, they started working on something that was going to replace gw2, and at the same time they stopped working on next expac for gw2. Forgive me from drawing the only conclusion i could think of - that they already started winding down on gw2 and intended to transition to a new game, like they did once with gw1. And that, had that project worked, we would have heard at some point during ls5 (or even during that announcement meeting the've done) the same thing we heard once in GW1: "We're stopping development on gw2, but don't worry, we're already working on a succesor game, so just keep playing in maintenance mode and buying stuff from gemshop, and wait for more news about the glorious future we'll about to have".You are jumping to so many conclusions .. you have zero idea of the business decision making between ANET and/or NCSoft..NCSoft have been pulling ANET's strings since the early days and were clearly funding those development costs, something that they could no longer commit to.. and knowing what we do now, it is understandable.. they were suffering a decline across their entire ageing portfolio, GW2 by contrast was still reasonably stable, but with increased overhead that was obviously needed to allow GW2 to carry on whilst seeking that next big hit via new project development.Regardless of the shelving of the projects, its pretty clear NCSoft would of had to fund the development of any new expac, this way they could look at keeping one product moving while its still stable in revenue, but allowing ANET to open up potentially new revenue streams, but unfortunately there are always risks and many things can conspire in business that are unplanned and unforeseen.. we the players are part of that and at some point NCSoft had to make some hard decisions and forced ANET into doing the same. That is how it works in the big boy world of business. Consider the alternative.. if GW2 hit that same decline even while developing the next expac would the result be any different.Saying devs gave up on the product is just silly talk, they were simply looking out for the business longer term, which any business would want.. standing still is simply not an option it carries as much risk as trying to open new doors.GW2 had its start point, bourne on the back of a successful product in GW1 that had already begun to feel stretched and showing age, so to keep the franchise relevant they transitioned into GW2.. that wasn't something that happened over night and thank god they did because ANET and GW1 would of been left behind long ago in MMO space, no matter how decent a game GW1 truly was. The same could be said for GW2, its 7 years young at the moment, but already showing signs of age in a world where tech is moving quickly and competition has kinda saturated the market place. It made sense to act sooner rather than later imo. As for your final rant there about maintenance mode, gemstore and the future. GW2 hasn't been been in maintenance mode as far as I can see, we have had a variety of updates, patches, bug fixes, QoL improvements over the last 2+ years that suggests your point is kinda moot. Gemstore is and always has been the major tool to draw in income, but none of it is forced upon you.. but as my ole ma says, money don't grow on trees, ANET need to make money in order to spend money - money which helps to secure not just the product, but also those striving to make it the best experience they can for us.. without it there is no future for GW2 or any product beyond. How would you recommend they go about developing a new product to secure the business and the staff within it longer term.. wait until GW2 is in maintenance mode then act.. cos that would be silly season management.
  13. Or maybe they want them to be worth more. There's nothing that says that the price of all items need to be capped at the price of a legendary. If they wanted them to be worth more than 10k, they would have raised the TP cap. The posted you quoted was about them being capped at the price of a legendary. It made no reference to the actual TP cap. No i didnt. i kinda figured it wouldnt be needed given i was trying to point out what i thought the price should be for an infusion. Its not a legendary item, i dont think it should cost as much(And should in no way be costing above what the cap is of the TP.) as the most expensive legendary to craft thats currently sellable. Anets either fine with, it or just doesnt care enough to change the drop rate cause of lack of interest or attention to the them, i wouldnt be surprised by either. Why would they facilitate a change in the drop rate though.. one of the knock on effects of supply starvation is price hiking which in turn pushes those players that just can't do without to buying gems and converting to gold... heck is it no surprise these days they actually advertise the gem to gold exchange rate along with chairs etc. This is the perfect storm for them, a win win situation. If players buy high using already attained wealth then that wealth just gets pushed into a few hands rather than having many players with all that gold spread around, pushing up the potential for future gem purchases as wealth is taken out of the game or pushed to those few hands to control. Then more payers feel compelled to buy gems and convert then pass that to the barons its a rolling stone effect and a double whammy for ANET. This is a business after all not a charity.Would we all like a better chance at dropping certain items - of course, only those TP barons would be shedding tears, but don't hold your breath for it to happen, better to rise above the prestige hype and let the barons sit on that wealth and pile of trinkets I say.

It's those devs that gave up on this game long ago."Those devs that gave up on GW2 long ago".... where did you get that from, that's a pretty harsh opinion. Because they were asked or told to move into new product development means nothing of the sort.Consider this... a studio with all but one source of revenue from an aging product and over 300 mouths to feed from it.... wouldn't you be seeking new ways to support the business longer term, especially as we now know the NCSoft were also seeing a downturn in revenue across it's whole aging portfolio.Anyone who runs a business knows the dangers of what standing still brings so What you call giving up on GW2, I call a very smart move on the studios part. They didn't just come in one Monday morning and thought bahhh not GW2 again I wanna do something different, screw this game... they would of transitioned there roles and responsibilities with other members of the teams when they deemed the time was right and they were confident they had the right people invested into taking over the lead within certain aspects of GW2 development.Of course those devs that "gave up on GW2" could of just upped sticks and left the studio but they didn't... maybe, just maybe those devs understood the bigger picture that was at play here a lot better than you or I perhaps .... Being overly reliant on a single aging product was not / is not something that the business likey relishes too much because it leaves more than our own gaming enjoyment vulnerable. TBH - It kinda feels like your voicing a huge dis-service on MO and the others that have left/are leaving and to those talented devs who are still busy doing all they can to deliver many more hours of enjoyment for us and they know our thirst for more is pretty much unquenchable. Heck if the Metal Legion event is anything to go by, the game has some pretty decent devs the business can call upon to keep the game enjoyable for whiles yet, so maybe not all doom and gloom I think Astral. All I have left to say is.. good luck MO and the others with future endeavours... who knows, maybe a GW3 or something of sorts will rise from other unexpected sources one day.
  15. Why would it be? Because devs who were most likely not working on GW2 left? Okay then, rationality seems to be lost on some Rationality ends at time travel. Apparently this person played at least 6 more years of the franchise than any of us did.Well to be fair @Addiction.9685 did say almost 20 years.. what is an over exaggeration of 5 or 6 years amongst friends ....
  16. I am trying to think of something that made getting the skyscale hard to the point it became NOT fun tbh.The only slight critique I could recall was the time gating around it when the content launched but even that got some improvement iirc.We each have the right to form our own opinions on content and I guess OP yours isn't a positive one and that's ok, not all content is great for everyone. Thankfully it is not something that is essential for anyone to have in order to carry on playing and enjoying the game so if your not enjoying it dont force yourself to do it, do something else instead and just chip away at the collection every now and then.
  17. Did you even bother to read their whole response? You can't pay for something that isn't their, even if you had the money.Yes I read it... you get a certain amount t for free.. if you want more even if that won't be enough for every build you have to pay for the convenience. You will of also freed invaluable inventory, it just means if you want more than is possible right now you might have to grin and bare it until perhaps more template availability becomes available in the future who knows.
  18. Yep that's a good point.. and actually a good idea for them to do it.It is certainly true there are quite a few redundant or as near as redundant currencies, so ANET could start to utilise them or perhaps come up with some conversion mechanism.
  19. No I don't. All I have is the evidence in front of me as outlined above. S3/S4 map currencies were unique to an episode. As, suggested by people above, is that they will be the currency for the whole series and there is more to come then that answers my question We are supposedly not getting new maps with IBS, just an expansion of the same map... so why would they utilise further map currencies for the same map, that would be non-sensical surely. As for uses, there are cooking recipes already live which use them so that like other gathered resources like onions, peppers, lemongrass etc means there will be uses for them within the game - whether you or I choose to use them is another thing of course, but that is the same for any other cooking recipe or map currency.TBH I would expect to see more uses for the Chili peppers as the SAGA unravels, especially when it comes to cooking recipes, but my point still stands, no one knows except ANET and if there isn't to be any further uses then yes its a bit of a wasted or limited use currency/resource I guess, but no different to others in game already. We will be getting a new map with episode 1, that grows into episode 2. I don't believe that they would use grothmar valley or extend it to fit a world boss ontop of everything else they have going on. Nor do I think they would remove some of the events to make room for them, We do know the strike will evolve within episode 1 and 2, from there we don't know. They have said we are going further into the north and into the far shiverpeaks so I believe that almost screams new map, after those two episodes though we don't know they did express a want to make changes/additions to existing maps. Well to me it looks like there are certain map fringe points that look like they could potentially be where the map opens up further. There is no reason to remove any such events from GV if they do this. As for Strike Missions, I hope they do evolve and are more fun lasting than the first instalment, hopefully this has just been a learning curve.None of that means the Hatched Chilies will become redundant as a currency though at least not yet, especially with the cooking recipe already in game (not that my chef has even bothered with them.. but that's just me :) )@Zaklex.6308 .. point taken they did say that in fairness, whether they expand the map to bring us to FSP or in deed make a new map is as yet unknown. My money is on the gate in the south beside the ooze pit. It looks a lot like the map is unfinished there and it would only need to turn right to get into where I am guessing we are going (possibly avoiding the strike zone area).Yeah that's one of the areas I was thinking, the other is up by doomlore.. heck they might even surprise us and push further map all round GV to widen the expanse, but at moment its all just hearsay I guess, maybe it will be a new map, perhaps next we go to FSP and then after the maps are expanded to bring them more together.. lots of possibilities as its early days.
  20. BUT.. that is the whole point .. there is and should be a trade off based around convenience and necessity..ANET are giving something freely that is useful to many to a point. If you are a player that needs something beyond a certain threshold then yeah, you gotta pay for the convenience. That is no different to inventory or bank space. This could actually help with some of those other convenience issues.I don't think you understood me. Even if i wanted to pay (which i won't. From what they said on stream, the price is going to end up astronomically high, my lowball estimates are cuttently at 10x expac cost), i wouldn;t be able to because the system simply doesn't even have that option.Gear templates cap at 6. Personal build templates cap at 6. Account-wide template storage caps at 24. That's nowhere close to being enough. It's a car with speed capped at 20 mp/h. It may be an improvement to anyone that walked by foot, but as a car it's still a failure. After the stream I don't feel as negative about it personally, but will I be one to need more convenience beyond what is being offered for free.. probably not, but I would never of expected to have it all given to me. The question I guess that is still going to be potentially contentious is the costs... time will tell just how contentious they will be or maybe ANET will surprise us and take a view that it would be sensible to price is very reasonable in an effort to sway players to buying into it whether they really need it or not. They said on stream they think it should be worth as much as bag slots/bank slot unlocks. So, 400-800 gems per unlock. Which may be okay if you only need 2-3 of those, but not if you really do need multiple templates on all your classes. For me, the estimated cost i'd need to pay if i wanted to make use of this feature would be around 500 euro. And those are lowball estimates (assuming only 400 gems per unlock)Again that is the point.. those that want that extra convenience will have to pay for it.. how much is still unknown, but yeah I would also think its going to be comparable to other convenience unlocks. Also didn't it say something like it would be packs of 3.. so if that costs 400-800 gems then maybe that's more appealing.. if not then its a personal choice isn't it. In yours an my case, that choice is abundantly clear and very easy to make.Bottom line this isn't going to be for everyone, but those who don't really care about the money will, as always jump in with both feet and they are the players ANET want out of this.
  21. As I said earlier these recipes are useless given that they recently increased cooking to ascended recipes and the best of the recipes offered are rare. As I also said if the given information is correct and they are going to be used on more than one map with more items to come then the title question is answered Well, not useless because yes we ascended but for some the cost is prohibitive to them to craft ascended recipes at the moment. What to say of course new ascended recipes wont be coming out which utilise the hatched chilies.. its just a little too early in the SAG to say anything really imo.
  22. OK, now I am mad .. that is the second coffee this week I have wasted down my pants!! What a terrible excuse they have used to try and cover over their glaringly obvious crack - how was that even a bug? ... oops somehow a posing Charr got merged into the Chair artwork and we didn't notice it .. c'mon ANET at least try to make a proper excuse of it.Can we now expect game downtime for feet clippings or for some Charr hairstyles that need some rework can we shut the game down please until every hair is where it should be.
