  1. I know, it's super cool to see and I'm shocked more people haven't picked up on it.
  2. Games For Good So ANET's very own Nick Hernandez linked on his Twitter account that he has done an interview about GW2's inclusiveness for IGDA's Games for Good campaign. I gave the entire episode a watch (well worth your time) but getting to the ANET portion of the episode (24:50)...there's a little more meat to it! As well as Nick, Rubi makes a showing as well as D a-Hee Im (cinematic designer) and some behind the scenes look at both the ANET offices and some EoD concept art! Just thought I'd throw it up here (and Reddit)!
  3. 9 year vet and you've taught me something I didn't know, thanks. The Watchwork set was a BL Chest item(which I didn't realise) so won't ever be in the voucher. Oh well...just gotta wait for it to cycle back to the Statuette vendor I guess!
  4. I'm just wondering when we're getting a full update to the Black Lion Backpack and Glider voucher. I thought when they were updated we'd get more of a selection that we have... had my heart set on the Watchwork set that's been out for a long time now but that doesnt seem to be in there.
  5. This was a really interesting article to read, I felt like I actually learned something. Really well written!
  6. Sorry to double post but I wanted to keep this separate: I'd like in general to see more traits give positive effects based on defensive attributes such as Vitality, Toughness and Healing Power. I can only really speak as a PvE player but giving people more choice when it comes to attribute combinations is never a bad thing. I'd love to see traits that, for example off the top of my head, give an extra chance of bleeding a foe the higher your Toughness is. I'll leave you to figure how to thematically fit it in though! Sharp armour? 😄
  7. A lot of people have complained that the Harbinger just seems a little... bland in terms of traits and the elixirs. Those elixirs are essentially just boons in exchange for Blight. Boons for HP loss. I personally like the idea of Blight but I feel more needs to be tied to it. Instead of just having elixirs gain you Blight for a boon, base those boon effects on the level of Blight you already have. Have 5 stacks of Blight instead of 25 (but still with 50% HP loss) and have each 1 stack give you x-amount of a boon. Higher the stacks, the more boons. At 4 and 5 stacks have the elixir give in addition to the boon self-condi's (thematically can be explained by 'being more sick'?). Why self conditions? You can then trait towards spreading those conditions (condi-specs) as per other necro traits/skills or have Harbinger traits that use those negatives to create a further power-based positive such as, I dont know, 'gain x-amount of barrier for each stack of bleed and Blight on you' (just an idea off the top of my head). The risk is higher but the reward is very high if you can 'use' the self conditions effectively. Why is this better than the current system? It ties in to other trait lines and skills creating more buildcraft. Its not just a 'lower health, higher damage' black and white mechanic anymore. You dont just pop all your elixirs and reap the rewards so long as you can stay on your feet... you have to weigh up when you want to use the elixirs. 1-3 stacks where you're gaining all positive effects to stacks 4-5 where you get higher positives but have another form of damage to get rid of/use effectively. Okay feel free to pull apart my idea. I'm not a theorycrafter, I literally just had the idea an hour ago and had to put it to 'paper'. I'm a PvE player only so in reality this idea may not work for all modes without some major changes but hey, having ideas is never a bad thing!
  8. I'm going to keep this short and sweet because, if I'm honest, I wanted to hold off playing the elite specs properly until they release. Just a single suggestion that echos what so many have already said but this is just a +1 I guess- for a class based on heavy movement the F skills felt very lackluster. The idea is great but overall with the short time I played with the class I felt very limited. Multiple skills have movement but when they're mostly all just small jumps it made for a frustrating play.
  9. I'm going to keep this short and sweet because, if I'm honest, I wanted to hold off playing the elite specs properly until they release. Just a couple of Harbinger suggestions: 1) The blight mechanic is great but the visuals for it are far too overpowering, blocking any kind of semblance of colour for your character. I'd suggest either toning down the green by making more transparent or just have legs/arms being affected. 2) Pistol 3 felt a little... underpowered. In terms of looks/feel rather than power or anything. Id personally like to see a more meatier shot or a very short cast with heavy recoil to convey the sense that you're firing something larger than a normal projectile.
  10. I saw the post and thought "this is new?!". Read the entire post and loved it, thanks for the insight Robert! Is it just me or is something.. happening/different at ANET the past few months? Informative and fun peaks behind the scenes, a ramp up of communication via social media, content patch posts that are precise and to the point giving locations to travel to...even commitments to a long term strategy for GW2. I know EoD is coming up and I was on my 5 year 'sabbatical' during HoT and PoF launches but I am currently REALLY liking the communication right now. Add in some decent advertising and I think GW2 has a good future... which is the opposite of what I thought post-IBS. Oh, and just have to laugh that it was a driver issue! Even huge games companies struggle like us commoners 😄
  11. Failed 5 times out of 5 tonight. Two of those runs were in an organised but pug group. Don't you dare nerf this please ANET. This is perfectly balanced and anyone that has been in GW2 longer than a 6 months will know this. It's do-able, even on the worst run of the five the majority of the platform fails were due to someone/people not really understanding that the champs are different for different lanes or getting caught up in a red circle. Yes it's frustrating but suck it up! It's a challenge and being handed everything on a platter all the time is something GW2 already does too much. I'll just add that I am a casual player, I don't raid or T4 fractal but I've been around since beta. THIS is the difficulty of content we casuals need more of.
  12. Well its been, like, 20+ days and I've still yet to get a confirmation that my donation has been received having posted and messaged here and mailed in game 😞
  13. I sent through the items, I'm hoping not to the wrong person!
  14. Hi! I have a couple of donations for a raffle and wondered whether you did separate draws for both EU and US. I don't mind them going to either but as I'm over in the UK if you've got an EU one going I'd rather donate to that one :p
  15. I've spoke of my pain at the 30 minute conclusion to a decade long story on the main Discussion board so I'll save repeating myself and just say this- as someone who has loved the story from launch despite the issues and gameplay problems (looking at you Zhaitan) I think 'Very Negative' in this poll isn't low enough an option.
  16. ANET maybe bit off more than they could chew with Elder Dragons and I do agree that some of the past encounters do seem like we're just a bunch of fruit flys smacking into a mountain. However each part of the story up until now has provided some explanation as to how we beat that dragon and it was a twisty story path to that point. This? Lure to a magical place, quick fight... dead. Aurene got the released magic. No matter if you liked the encounter, hated Elder Dragons or just are waiting for Cantha you have to admit this was rushed content that failed to give any kind of satisfying conclusion to two Tyrian superpowers and a plot that has been told over an entire decade. I am interested to see what the writers can do with 'regular' foes however my enthusiasm has really waned for GW2 this week. If they can do this to this arc then they can do it to future ones if they have another 'restructuring'.
  17. I play solo and primarily for the story, lore and exploration. Going into the 'Champions' I knew that it would be a little bare due to the restructuring. I knew that the engine couldn't handle whole dragons so seeing just the heads was still a cool moment for me. The gameplay, while simple, I largely enjoyed as it was about maintaining the balance enough to deal with both dragons. The Champions fighting was great and the emotional ending for Ryland was a worthy moment IMO. This is where the praise ends. I honestly feel cheated- you cannot and should not ever end a decade long arc with a 30 minute patch and a 30 second cutscene. Where was Jormag's manipulation and mind games? Where was Primordus' brute strength on show? Why is Aurene okay with getting involved now having wanting to stay out of it for so long? Why did Braham and Ryland survive with no...you know what, I've not got time to list all the issues here. Honestly it would have been better for ANET to say "They just disappeared" in plain text on the screen. A terrible ending but still better than the way this arc was wrapped up. I understand the lack of devs for the Saga but I can't understand the need to just push it out ASAP to get rid of the Dragon arc quickly. Its disrespectful to the playerbase and those that have played for this long and is NOT the way to build hype for an expansion. Before this patch I was really looking forward to the future of GW2, EoD and onwards. Now? I honestly think EoD will be one of the last bits of major content. I love the game but if future content is this threadbare because ANET has issues then I'd prefer it was put out of its misery sooner rather than later so that the amazing content and storytelling that has already been released isn't sullied.
  18. So I'm very specifically talking about a set of vouchers gained in the Anniversary pack a fair few months back. I'd be willing be bet that the vast majority that bought the pack have already used their vouchers in which case if they update them there might be some unhappy folk. But equally saying nothing means that those that saved them are currently unhappy as they don't know what is going to happen with regards to updating and are just sitting on the vouchers. From a game perspective, and keeping everyone happy, I'd actually say that I personally wouldn't mind if they didn't update them and but either way they need to say this. They've since released a Dragon's Watch set containing similar vouchers and with this set you KNOW it's a limited selection because of the subject of the pack. The Black Lion Vouchers are different and there has been gem store items since that could have been added to the voucher but were not.
  19. Thanks for the replies but I'd rather hear that from someone at ANET. I read what was said last time but I see no reason why someone in the know cannot just write ' There are plans to update/There are no plans to update'.
  20. I'm sorry to necro an old post of mine but I just so happened to remember that we never did get an official answer to the question. Rather than make a new post I wondered whether an admin could maybe find the answer for us? As I said if the answer is that they won't ever be updated that's also fine as I know I can spend them. They're just sitting in my bank at the moment waiting for an answer.
  21. The cost to change appearance shouldn't ever be free in my opinion however the game is begging for an infinite use wardrobe/makeup....stone...thing and just make it cost gems (a small amount) to change the appearance of each item instead of coins like the salvage-o-matic. Have it convert all transmutation stones to 'free uses' and voila, no one loses. "But I don't see a point to it, just buy stones..." I hear you say. The main draw would be having saved wardrobes. Change all clothing+hair at the press of a button. Now THAT'S Fashion Wars. No doubt ANET would want to change for extra slots but hey, not going to tell them how to monetise!
  22. EDITED: Okay so it turned out I was bugged! I got no progress when buying from the faction vendor but today's log-in sorted it. Thanks for your help Linken!
  23. I guess the answer seems to be hold out until you want something > spend the voucher > regret it soon ater when they update! Anyways thanks for the replies :)
  24. Hi! Do you get this achievement after the countdown timer (<1day from now) ticks down? Do your donations before/after/both count towards the achievement? I missed the Crystal Bloom event so no clue and my current donations have not counted towards the achievement.
  25. Well I put in a ticket asking the question and was told to throw it to the forums as I've a better chance of getting a response. Just sitting on them is a huge waste as I don't mind using them, just need to know if an update is incoming.
