  1. That's a completely bizarre question... Use your imagination, please.
  2. I'm aware. They're also brought up in GW2. It still doesn't make sense within GW1's story.
  3. Implying that the Mursaat are all dead. They are the OG villains and are great in both narrative and art design. They are also so self-interested that it doesn't really make sense for them all to be dead.
  4. Prophecies had the best story of the series. I'd probably put Nightfall next, then parts of IBS - I did like Jormag as a villain. Balthazar was a literal god of war and somehow was made into a trivial boss, like every other. Some of the worst parts of the story are Kas, Jory and Taimi (because the Asura have been made way too parodical). Rytlock also lost all his gravitas.
  5. 1) That's not me. 2) When you understand that, my comment has a different context. 3) I made a comparison of inputs to outcome, saying just play Mechanist or otherwise, this should be dealing 45k damage.
  6. Nothing to do with reaction times. You will spend more time trying to kill some mobs and Veterans with Marauder gear and if the player is having the difficulty described by the OP, they are better off bursting their DPS with blinds up and getting them down quicker.
  7. You're asking people to further cripple themselves for a tiny bit of vitality where, in the situation the OP is describing would be unlikely to help them survive one more hit... The alternative is to take advice and learn how to use your skills, like blinds and being able to kite... Trying to suggest you can't play the entire game; living world and open world, with glass armour is complete nonsense. I have never used Marauder gear and I never will.
  8. Then we can leave the discussion here and let the wider community and Anet decide. Thanks.
  9. ... There are only two potential outcomes to the prediction, and here was yours.
  10. It's a request/feedback thread. Please stop deliberately making contrarian arguments. To sum up; there are stated intentions here as to what would make people play Reaper more - you turn up and tell them they wouldn't. You edited your last post and I didn't reply to it - Yes I'm telling you in my opinion it is relevant. Want to know why I think that? I started playing it because it was easy high DPS and versatile. If you identified that Reaper could be in a similar position you'd be correct.
  11. Not a useful addition to the topic with people providing a stated intention to play it for said reasons.
  12. You can keep calling it a prediction all you want, though there are people here saying they'd play it more often; but not only that. Why don't you look at Engineer and Mechanist instead? As if people didn't suddenly start playing Mech? Was it because it had the highest benched DPS, or because they liked it for a variety of reasons, such as ease or visuals?
  13. Yes, it literally would. It's an easy rotation, it has loads of self sustain and great AOE alongside blinds. It only needs more DPS.
  14. Don't advise people to get tanky gear solely for the story and solo play. There are builds, skills and food they can use to make it far easier. FYI, might on crit food is far more valuable than any other for solo play. This is terrible advice. Use your blinds, swap to bits of range, kite around. You will be fine on any profession using a combination of these things. I do not recommend shortbow for anything but open world tagging or movement. The same goes for stealth slot skills. In fact - I wouldn't be using any of those slots. You're better off with something like this: http://gw2skills.net/editor/?PaxAYhrlNwAZbsLGJWyTWtaA-zRIYhSBHuY0RZUbKURFoyqEYA-e You can use P/P if you really want, or a different elite, and could swap the Shadowstep off.
  15. To be honest, I mostly agree with this. I don't think Taimi is awful, but the original Asura were far more entertaining. Vekk and Gadd were much more memorable with much less screentime. The Asura in GW2 feel like a parody.
  16. Because the events of GW1 happened and they are aware of the outside world and should be aware of the races involved all the way up until the end of those events. They were capable of writing history books and trading. This is just common sense and reading between the lines. They aren't isolated, because they are clearly trading with Zephyrites through smuggling?... A good point, although that surely infers even more that if smugglers can gain access to Cantha, their top intelligence organisations are surely capable of more (like sending out scouts, or even, secret teleportation). I understand what you are saying in terms of quotes; but I don't think these story elements make sense. They are just "grunts". If they are isolationist, they are isolated for a reason; and they would still likely be aware and keeping tabs on outside forces. I'd say it's important to remember, the Asura were setting up gates all over the place back in GW1. It seems beggars belief to me that there wouldn't be one in Cantha, deactivated, hidden, or otherwise. The only excuse I can give is that it would be irritating for the writers to constantly go; "Oh, but why didn't you teleport? That's a thing right, do you not have Asuran gates in Cantha?". "Well... yes, but the Ministry of Security disallowed anyone without the proper authority to use them. They're mostly a relic of our past". "But did you not require outside assistance when Shiro Tagachi corrupted the land?" "Hmm... I suppose you're right". Re: Why didn't Li do anything with such information? Simply the way the story was written, it makes more sense for him to know and try something more than what actually occurred. Same reason Balthazar didn't just outright kill us, multiple times over. He was clearly capable and it seems awful that he was defeated by us.
  17. It's easy to write them back into the story as benevolent gods and plenty of reason to do so. It's a classic anchor for a story. I genuinely would much prefer this - and make no mistake, I'm not religious in real life, but very much appreciate the stories and ideas. For example, bringing Dwayna, Melandru, Kormir and Grenth in as villains would be completely ridiculous as far as I can see. The only reason we have to believe Lyssa could be a villain is due to the small bits of text they gave us in GW2, about her being likely enraged over what happened with Balthazar. They are gods and are supposed to be ineffable. Part of the charm. I don't want to fight Lyssa, and whilst it was "cool" to fight Balthazar, I did feel it was cheap and all too easy to beat him. I didn't feel like Kormir's exposition was enough, and I didn't like how she claimed they left.
  18. Both a question and a request - when might we get a new God of war and the gods returning as distant, guiding figures? I'm aware there are two minds when it comes to the narrative - the original has them as classical gods, benevolent and essential. The other is that they're being written out of the story as the writers do not want there to be a guiding divinity within the story. I hope it's not the latter, as it's part of the charm of the series.
  19. Unless there's something in GW2 lore that suggests nobody on Cantha knows what an Asura is, you should assume they do seeing as GW1 was a thing... And if it is mentioned; it is nonsensical. It's like asking how would they know about Balthazar or the Dragons. You either don't know what you're talking about or leaping to conclusions in attempt to defend something which goes against common sense. Isolated does not mean a secret society and an "intelligence agency" does not have scouts...
  20. Um no. It was better before crowd control changes. Look at Ele staff which was designed for that era, and recognise how broken it is with the realisation you used to be able to soft-cc control everything. Professions were more pronounced, less homogenised.
  21. Unless you want every profession to be exactly the same in a different skin, the instant cast nature of stability isn't the issue here. Tempest should have a niche, much like the others do (or did). I can't say I care for Ele being a healer when you have classes literally called Druid and Guardian - unless the former applies for you, of course.
  22. What's the point? Did you see the size of that hitbox? Ignoring the fact you have to be able to get meteor shower off? The lack of survivability? The amount of skills you have to press... and for what? Just play Mech, Anets golden design. Spam 25, hit grenade, spam 25. No love for Eles. This should be dealing 45k damage. Brilliant game.
  23. Try Power Reaper. It has received considerable nerfs, but it is still a fun build to look at and play, as well as being simple and having access to the things you want. Lots of sustain (HP), blinds, AOE. I would keep your gear as close to raid/fotm designs as possible and can't recommend "tanky" armour sets, even for solo. It just isn't worth it. Strength runes and "might on crit" food can be very useful for solo, however.
  24. It's worse than it was - less convenient and versatile. Is that so hard to figure out or do you like using the same rhetoric over and over? This is a ridiculous conversation.
