  1. Title. I'm playing on a desktop PC via WLAN - my internet connection is absolutely fine and never disconnects unless the router restarts (which happens very rarely). But each and every time I start Guild Wars 2, the game somehow interupts the connection, I cannot log into the game (which forces me to basically quit the client and restart 3-4 times until it finally works) and I can't load any websites or anything else for 30-60 seconds until I close the game. This happens only when I try to log into the game (out of the character selection window), never any other time. So it clearly has something to do with Guild Wars 2 or the client. I already whitelisted the client in my firewall, yet it didn't help. My PC is also powerful enough to easily run the game (RTX3060, i5-10400F, SSD), so that can't be the problem either. As soon as I close the GW2 client, the internet works absolutely fine without and interruptions. As soon as I get back into the character selection, it starts to disconnect again. Every other connection (WLAN on my phone, PS5 etc.) works also fine. It's solely on my PC that's connected via WLAN when I get into the character selection. What is causing this issue? What's the solution? It's super annoying not only because I need half a dozen tries to eventually get into the game, but because it also kills my internet each and every time for a short period.
  2. Hey there, I'm playing GW2 on and off since its 2012 release, but never got to finish the main story, nor the living world stories or any other expansion storylines yet. While I own every expansion, I just never got to that point in the game. So although I'm playing this game ocassionally for 11 years, I never defeated Zhaitan, Mordremoth or any of the other dragons. Now I really want to get into the game (again), but I'm not feeling leveling a brand new character yet again. I thought about boosting one (I have several boosts) and then starting to experience all of the stories - does that make sense? Do I need to play them in order as they are building up on each other? So first I need to do all the personal and main story of the "Vanilla" game, after that the living world, then HoT > LW > PoF > LW > EoD etc.? What would be the best way for me to do it? I'd be glad if someone could help me out.
  3. The utility skill Fist Flurry -> Palm Strike does trigger a Pulmonary Impact, too - right?
  4. And what is this Pulmonary Impact I'm reading about?
  5. Title. Does this work with Staff / Rifle? I guess not, because of the lack of dual attacks, but that would be incredibly silly and a letdown for that trait. So, can someone enlighten me?
  6. You seem to miss the problem. Harvesting nodes in WvW is completely fine. But WvW has a different ruleset than PvE and therefore suffers from changes made to player versus player encounters.
  7. Hey there, I'm fairly new to the Thief profession and I started this class because I love Deadeye and find the Specter concept to be really cool. But over the last days, my interest about Daredevil has increased as I read more about it and found its playstyle to be really unique and cool. But I couldn't really make up my mind on how it is played or what its usecase is. Deadeye is long range (power) damage and Specter can either be heal-support or (condi) DPS. But Daredevil? Is it just a (power) DPS or is it similar to Spellbreaker in how it cracks down specific opponents etc.? Can some dedicated Thief or Daredevil give me some insights on the core mechanic and how it works in PvE and PvP combat? What are the strenghts and weaknesses? Which opponents does it fight best in PvP and which are the (elite) specs it has problems with?
  8. WvW is PvP and therefore the change in regards to farming / gathering should be seen under that circumstance.
  9. Fairly new to Thief and I found the Sword to be terrible. What exactly is its use case?
  10. I've read several posts and opinions now that Deadeye in fact is stronger and more potent after the Stealth changes than it was before. I can see issues for core melee Thieves, but for Deadeyes? Don't see it. And why are you branding all the people as "haters" who agree with the change or can see where it came from? I think playing around with stealth is way cooler than camping in stealth.
  11. Your comparison doesn't work as you still can use Stealth. You just can't use it as long as you've been used to it. The only thing relevant to your playstyle was the duration. I dislike that the removed Stealth from Steal and Heal because that's an integral part of combat. But your playstyle aka farming has no impact on the game at all, there's no balance required for farming as you want to avoid combat as much as possible. Unless they want to introduce a third way of balancing things (PvE - PvP/WvW - Farming), farming will always come last because overall it has the least impact and relevance in any competitive game mode.
  12. Farming should be bottom of the barrel when it comes to balancing. Simply because it does not matter at all and doesn't interact with other players in any way. In PvP balance matters to make fights with other players balanced and in PvE it matters to make your class / spec a competitive choice. If you gather herbs or ores 1 seconds faster or not is completely irrelevant. In any case.
  13. You don't need to engage in combat for combat effects aka fields. Honestly, no idea how anyone after playing for such a long amount of time could have missed that. It's one of the most basic concepts in Guild Wars 2 "combat". Luckily they work everywhere, never witnessed players using them in cities?
  14. I think the only one they should have kept is Stealth for Steal. That felt iconic and should still be an option.
  15. Honestly, thank god this isn't possible anymore. This playstyle is fun only for one group of people, the ones using it. For all others it's a terrible and frustrating experience.
  16. I think we really shouldn't expect that for the in-between-patch. Major changes will come in 3 months and I am sure they'll better preview and explain them this way, but I think for this smaller balance patch it will be number tuning and that's it. And for that you don't need much explanation anyway besides this ability over- / underperformed.
  17. "Weeks". So I'd say about 5-6 weeks from now as it's the halfway point to the next patch and big balance update. Don't expect major changes though, they'll tweak modifiers at best.
  18. Great explanation and sounds really fun to play, thank you!
  19. Your Deadeye build looks like fun. I'm a pretty new Thief player, could you elaborate and explain that build and its incentives a bit, please?
  20. Hey there, I really love the Deadeye Elite spec. And I like Condi. My question now is, can you build a feasible Condi Rifle Deadeye? Or does it not work with Rifle and you need a dedicated Condi weapon for that?
  21. Wow, the player entitlement in this thread is terrible. ANet owns you nothing. And in the same regard, you own nothing to them. You can quit the game anytime you want, nobody forces you to play. ANet should improve their balancing, nobody is questioning that. But the reactions from a lot of posters here are frantic and totally incomprehensible. No, this patch won't break the game. No, this patch won't kill the game. No, you won't stop playing. It was obvious that this patch is going through one way or another - there was no option to just "stop" it. Everybody knows that (especially the players that claim they know better than the devs should be totally aware of that). Releasing the patch now and fixing the biggest issues in 5-6 weeks and the smaller ones in 3 months is totally fine. Way more players would be hurt by not releasing this patch than players are hurt by these balance changes. The grand majority of players plays for fun and doesn't really care about the balance changes anyway. Adjust your expectations and you'll be fine.
  22. Is there a screenshot or link to what the Anet employee said - the stuff everybody is calling out here?
  23. They are still free to not use it. They're still the devs and we're still the players. And again, players are complaining for years now, predicting this patch will kill the game or that patch will kill the game and yet, years later, they're still around playing.
  24. What could they change in 2 days? Right, nothing. This would mean pushing back the balance patch for another 4 weeks or so. And by that time they're already working on the next balance patch. This patch will go live as it is, players will still be playing and then you and all the others have three months to offer valuable feedback.
