  1. Just out of curiosity, has anybody ever been able to play (at least 30FPS) if you set both character models limit and character model quality to both highest settings? It eats framerates! I understand you are talking about optimization and with a Ryzen 5600 combined with an RX580 I should be able to rock a lot more settings but what matters most to me is a constant framerate. This is where EOD and SOTO come into question, because i get massive dips in these maps almost constantly 10-20FPS. I can't say for certain (and i'm probably worng) but I think the newer maps use higher resolution for all terrain and NPC characters. Finally, when the Lunar New Year event was active last year I was getting still framerates on Tequatl! I had never seen that before, world bosses were seriously affected. Sometimes it's bad coding in updates that disrupt other codes. Once the New Year event finished I was back to my usual framerates, no problems since.
  2. I find my lower frame rates are in PoF and any expansion since then. I think the character models and shaders got higher resolutions in the newer content zones?
  3. 100% Agree. I hadn't even considered Raids as their own category in Wizard's Vault, but that is a nice idea. (have a cookie) Instanced content rather than open world related. The same with strike missions, I see them in a daily and think "oh god, fine let's get it out the way" or most of the time i just kill caravans in WvW and go back to PvE.
  4. OK, I agree with this sentiment, not 100% but I see a few points you make sure. I don't...What? I'm going to assume I just dropped into Tyria as a fresh player. Just taking a quick glance at the wiki, getting the recipe for (I'm going to use Celestial as that is your main example) is playing through the main story, no DLC needed. The hardest ingredient in Celestial gear is 2 Charged Quartz Crystals. It's pretty easy to play through the story, unlock waypoints and gather mats as you go. You learn more about the maps in the main story. Dude, I never had Twilight, my first legendary until last year and I have been playing since 2013. The legendary gear was something hardcore players were aiming for and I thought the skin was slick!. I didn't even start making Ascended gear until I got interested in Fractals. By that time I had explored Dungeons, WvW and PvP. After getting my butt kicked inPvP (i'm not the hardcore kind of player, I don't keep up with builds etc...) eventually the Fractals was something I wanted to try. I had to make the time to get those mats and I consider myself a casual player. When I made Eternity it was my prize possession and is to this day. We were all new players at one point. Also, no I think open world content is pretty easy compared to the types I mentioned above. Roam, stay away from champs and grab some materials on the way. Complete renown hearts (yes they can be pretty repetitive I will agree with that) jumping puzzles were a challenge for me but I actually really enjoy them to this day. And the main overworld content is the story mode to help with all of this. Real-life money for materials? No i don't remember that. Real life money for silly skins is dumb I will agree with you there, as for the upgrade components and utilities then yes, I don't mind paying £8 to support ANet for offering a free to play game. Leveling up was fun! Watching the XP bar fill up made me want to push through. It's a common tactic across nearly all game types (remember CoD and Halo?) And I remember far enough back where the main story chapters didn't require ten levels to level up. Wandering into Diessa Plateau from Wayfarer Foothills was a big smack in the face for my first character lol. At the time I remember that level caps were going to ruin the influx of players. My housemate couldn't get into the game after that (he was a newbie after that mechanic was introduced) If he didn't enjoy the game, well he went back to ESO. Mostly because of the lore, he is a massive Elder Scrolls fan. Sorry, but if you tell a new player the game is trash and horrible and you need to finish the game to play the game. Then yes. Of course they are getting discouraged and leave.Again, that works in any game of any genre. In that case you are the problem, instead of giving advice and helping out. I had to show a player how to get from the Fire Elemental to The Shatterer. He hadn't unlocked the Ascalon maps, so me and other player showed him the way to teleport to LA, go through the gate with the Charr, go east to the next map, go east again, run until you get this far, go north then run immediately to the east. You've got ten minutes until the main event begins. He made it! Either he was lying about not having the map or me and another player giving directions. That helps players. (I had to repost this one below because lets face it the forums interface is worse than the game itself lol) So. You're right the game, isn't as hard for me anymore but I still have areas that I don't enjoy. Let's say you don't have any mounts and lets make it even harder, you're new player doesn't have a glider. Now that would definitely dis-hearten you to play the game. Heart of Thorns vanilla? No thank you, but I had to do it. I play RuneScape very casually and that's only when I get a bit burnt out of Guild Wars. I'm not going to aim for all the new currencies, maps, raids etc, whatever they have introduced since I logged in over a year ago. Yes, I realise I'm comparing RuneScape to GW2 but I keep seeing the MMO argument that if you didn't join the first day you're going to fall behind and everything is going to be harder for you, which makes sense, even in real life. What was the last thing I wanted to address? Oh right. If you have a legendary, have completed the story, mastery levels, teleport scrolls,... Basically played the game. Well done, you get a cookie. Well I think I've spent enough time on this rant of mine so that's my two cents. Put in the graft, work hard, play the game as though it was your real lie job and the gold is in your real life bank. Don't expect life to be easy and if it is, someone is going to be jealous. Go look for more things to explore. Or retire if you are that old enough to talk about "the good old days" or " kids these days dont know..." Now excuse me while I go and play the game.
  5. I have to admit that i'm guilty of this sometimes. Especially fighting Tequatl's minions , rather than leap round the map i do get away with hanging and shooting. Yeah i have noticed it quite a fair bit myself
  6. Hi, I just clicked on the purchase Bag Slot Expansion tab in my inventory. I have a mail saying it was delivered and it appears on the Transaction History in the gem store, but I haven't got the consumable. Screenshot below. https://ibb.co/3m3xpsW Thanks in advance, Southpaw.
  7. I support this too, would be nice to be able to dip into the lore when i like in-game :)
  8. I'm up for this. Most of the rifts that i've seen require little more than just dog-piling on one enemy (usually an Elite level from what I experience)
  9. yeah but it's not as eye catching as the old one was. When you finished a daily task a chest would come up above/below your mini map and all you had to do was right click it to open the chest. Now i have to remind myself to check the progress percentage Even when it reaches a 100%. it still just glows a little bit and it can be easy to overlook, It's not a big deal but i can understand why some people would be peeved at it
  10. I have to agree. I didn't think much of it at first but it does need to have a chest icon spring up like the old system did and alert you to the completed progress, remind you to claim it.
  11. Glad to hear this isn't just me having this problem. I started to notice it a lot in PoF, lower framerates though nothing that impacted performance. SoTo has definitely dropped me down to the ~30 fps range though :( 100% agree.
  12. I love the idea of a pirate story relating to old LA. Integrating the novel Sea of Sorrows into the game would be awesome, great lore, characters and the book is my favourite out the three novels. I know it won't happen but I love the idea for sure :) However I shudder at the thought of more underwater combat. I hate water combat no matter what game i'm playing
  13. Who else remembers when Laurels were the reward for doing dailies instead of Spirit Shards? Long time ago...
  14. Oh..then in that case I use Andy whenever I want more might, the problem is it takes 3 seconds to cast and there's a 10 second cooldown rate in between duration and recharge times
  15. Highly recommend fractals to you if you just want to farm some gold. the items you get from them are a great income.
  16. Wouldn't it still be quicker to just craft the items rather than waiting 3 months (or even one month) The only true time gates on ascended mats are the Ecto Refinement items
  17. You can keybind it yourself. It's under the control tab as special actions IIRC God, please yes! 100%
  18. As someone who enjoys crafting leggies aswell as the precursors, I know i'll be buying mats and items of all levels if I don't want to grind hard to get items. Don't you dare dry up on me
  19. 1) I never go for cosmetics but the Pirate Captian's Outfit looks so good on my Charr in preview, I want it back in rotation! 2) Maybe a bookcase device where all the books you've read account wide could be stored and read at your own time. Think of the bookshelves in Skyrim for instance. I hate to think of all the lore in the books that's been written down and not been read or just skimmed through to advance a story arc. *Snargle Goldclaw's books would certainly be kept in there ;)
  20. HoT was going to ruin the game with the gliders PoF was ruining the game with mounts IBS ruined the game because it was IBS EoD was ruining the game with...(hmm what was the complaint about EoD again? ) Balance update: dd:mm:yy was what ruined the game ANet just looked at the game one day and it got ruined then too, Yeah i've heard it all before, the amount of times ANet has been accused of 'ruining the game' it's always been over exacerbated and the reality is that people adapt and the drama dies down. I do think it is important for the players who enjoy the game and expansions to voice their praise amongst the criticism and I've seen a lot of people logged in playing the new content and i've had perfectly normal/sane conversations with them with the majority of the conversations praising the maps and mastery tracks. Personally, I enjoy the story the most but i'm having a blast with the new maps aswell! (For the confused people out there, those were all arguments that were being made when each of those expansions were released. As for the balance updates and ANet looking at the game I am of course being a little over dramatic) Show some love and hit that button :p
  21. wow, I don't even remember which pet it was...
  22. " All day, and all night. And then the next day, and the next, but not the day after that. That's a holiday." Well i'm sure by now we've all heard a lot of feelings about the dailies, however I just wanted to throw my two cents out there and say I'm happy to play for a few hours a day working towards the Special and Weekly targets. It's nice to see the old weekly and monthly challenges back too. The rewards up on the Wizard's Vault aren't too bad in my opinion considering items like Mystic Clovers are only 60 AA and can be bought 20 times ( I assume after they are bought they will be recycled around? ) If I need to buy all 20 I can finish the Special tasks sooner than waiting 28 days to get 7 clovers, I like the sound of that! (Also, Vision Crystals are up for grabs? OK. Seeing items like Upgrade Extractors/ Build Storage Expansions and a Black Lion Mastery Coffer also wets my appetite!) As for the daily tab, honestly the WvW targets will probably get my butt back into multiplayer as I haven't been in the mists for years at this point (unless I needed a Gift of Battle or Memories of Battle) plus the WvW reward tracks can help me get loot from certain maps/dungeons I don't enjoy playing. PvP? Hmm, again my last long term stint in PvP was in 2016, but I should probably dip my toe in again since we've had 3 major updates/expansions since then. I could be tempted to at least spend an hour in PvP I guess. More if i enjoy it, though I am strictly casual. If i was pressed for time and I didn't have the chance to grab the dailies then, I'm not gonna lie, it doesn't look like I'm going to miss 1 Essence of Luck and 1 Gold. The 30 extra AA...meeeeh..I mean if I concentrated on the weekly tab more then I'd get much better loot (10 Laurels and 450 AA sound better to me) All in all I just wanted to share a positive voice for the new update. C ya! "How do you like them apples!?"
