  1. Freak'n covid has their offices shut down and has them working from home, As an avid critic of A-net at times I feel this is not a good time. Lets wait and see what happens, their rigs in their house might not be nearly as strong as their work rigs AND they might have kids and family at home who will make it harder to focus on their work . When it comes to class changes id rather them take their time than bork and entire class into unplayable shenanigans. this is a new team, not their fault a pandemic happened RIGHT after they took over and made their promises. Yeah, sure, that is entirely understandable. Yet other companies are able to at least communicate with their communities and we haven't seen very much of that in regards to the PvP balance update and what will happen with that due to the current circumstances. Is it delayed? Is it even being worked on? What have they figured out so far based on data and feedback? Communicating about it is the very least they can do and they haven't even done that.I agree The pandemic excuse is valid to a point, a grace period seems appropriate, and I’m sure any reasonable person would understand if a delay was needed..but a lack of communication is what really blows my mind. It really really sucks knowing the game you happen to love is run like this one is. Consider the following: The people in charge have decided we’re not who the game is designed for, and any form of communication with us is a waste of time and money (which contradicts the whole pvp revamp thing) OR it’s gross incompetence. Take your pick, both suck.
  2. This comment did not age well at all unfortunately. Oh? I'm still doing fine playing core only. And I've ran into several players who are doing very well, too. “The gap between various builds is closing” is turning out to be very incorrect. You rarely see more than the usual 5-6 builds in pvp, and anyone who isnt using one is food. At this time that's a gross exaggeration. I probably would have agreed with you before the patch though. Back then a core Engineer was indeed "food". Now it isn't anymore. At the moment it's entirely possible to do well on it. Anyway, I feel like this is a fruitless discussion. So I wish you good luck and many fun games. ?How strange to dismiss someones evidence with “it isn’t anymore” and then say the discussion is fruitless... Take care.

  5. This guy has been on a Rampage trying to justify the kinds of damage ranger can do. This is like, the 7th post? Here’s the thing dude, More patches will come, and if certain things about ranger get nerfed or not, it won’t be because of these embarrassing string of posts.
  6. This is unfortunately the reason the game is in such a bad state. People who think ttk is 10 seconds because they don’t know how to resustain. People who think damage needs to be SO LOW that you ALWAYS have your heal up after taking any type of combo. Thats such a poor state of mind. They are asking for the game to get easier so they don’t need to get better. 30 second ttk’s would mean anyone with any actual competence will never die, and bad players will last several more heal rotations, is that what they want? Cause that’s what they are asking.
  7. Thanks for the laugh. I’m sorry you think dropping a circle on another zerg takes skill. I don't. You jumping to conclusions is what is amusing. I hate to break it to you, but in the grand scheme of things neither largescale nor smallscale in WvW are anything but a joke as far as skilled gaming goes.Wait, is your argument that some fps or rts or whatever requires more skill ? Do you understand how context works? Or what a strawman argument is? Or are you implying PvP requires more skill? Why cause things like trailblazers exist? Or food? Honestly I can’t tell what your point is.
  8. Thanks for the laugh. I’m sorry you think dropping a circle on another zerg takes skill. That’s amusing
  9. Perhaps those "zerg monkeys" want to actually run back to their zerg and survive an encounter with some spawn-camping, ganking chimps on their way there? Small scale pvp is about skill, not placing circles in a clusterfuck. Losing to roamers on a zerg build isnt even an excuse when you can run a diff build while you get back to your zerg using templates. If your argument is based on roamers ganking you cause you died in your zerg, that’s an l2p issue.
  10. Warrior Eviscerate can hit for those numbers. Can other professions in GW2 do that damage by pressing multiple keys? Or is OP only the damage that can be done with a single ability? Seems the comment below you just completely destroyed the evis argument. The biggest number I managed to pull off post patch on my scrapper(full might, stab swiftness superspeed and quickness) in berserker ammy and eagle runes has been about 9.5k, with electro whirl...meaning it did about 4.7k a hit.
  11. So many obvious zerg monkeys in this thread. News flash: not all fights in wvw take place in zergs, and the game should NOT be balanced around surviving zerg v zerg encounters. If you’re dying in blob fights, the other zerg is better, or your positioning is bad. Nerfing and buffing classes isn’t going to help you there. How can these minor changes even bother zerg monekys? If you’re in a competent blob you should have full might, swiftness, prot ect. How can you realistically think the nerfs will have any massive zerg v zerg gameplay effect? They wont, but they will create more options for small scale.(second news flash: outside of primetime and bandwagon servers, Its ONLY small scale.)
  12. Imagine Maul on a 15 second cooldown. What exactly would we kill people with? Maul is literally the only skill on ranger greatsword that does non-insignificant damage and it only hits that hard on marksmanship and/or glass soulbeast builds. And what would we do against people that aren't AFK and actually dodge things? Nerfing the cooldown to 15 seconds would just completely gut non-meme glass ranger builds and delete the weapon from play entirely. Thats a cute argument. Are there any melee power classes that can hit for 15k with ONE skill anymore? I don’t think so. How do they kill things?
  13. Condi only requires two stat investments to see results, which leaves them open to taking defensive stats. Power needs 3 stat investments, and there are no power/prec/fero/vit ammys in the game currently. Power also has to land, can be healed, and Is greatly mitigated by things like prot, which is much more common than resistance. The only difference between condi and power is that condi will start to hurt one server tick later than power, doesn’t really seem like a valid argument if you think abt it that way Ummm....Marauder amulet exists and has existed for many years...and it's only one of the most played power amulets of all time....Yeah I meant to say viable. Marauders and Demos were fine pre patch, but I haven’t seen anyone using them successfully since.
  14. On the contrary sPvP feels far less balanced than WvW smallscale does. Most fights in sPvP feel predetermined, most fights in WvW don't. But WvW overall has a higher power level We got trailblazer/dire/minstrel, fully powered marauder (and other 4 stats), durability runes, cleansing sigils (with 3 condis) etc. In addition to this we can put together our stats in much more optimal ways and we have far far greater build variety. In spvp everyone is forced to run terrible stat combinations, runes that do almost nothing and sigils that somehow do less. These gamemodes should not share everything. Haven't tested Condi Herald yet, and haven't run into too many. Condi Renegade does some good numbers, but is easy to mitigate with timed CC and can do more damage to the Rev themselves then the enemy, even more so when their condis are passed back to them. Key here is people using blanket statement on classes is not good thing. Interesting, at least personally I encounter full transfer heralds extremely frequently and have seen just a couple of renegades overall. True nature Demon is really the only part of the class that feels very over the top to me. Agree, sPvP balance should definitively stay away from WvW. Nodes in pvp have nothing to do with small scale fights.
  15. Condi only requires two stat investments to see results, which leaves them open to taking defensive stats. Power needs 3 stat investments, and there are no viable* power/prec/fero/vit ammys in the game currently imo, and the Power also has to land, can be healed, and Is greatly mitigated by things like prot, which is much more common than resistance. The only difference between condi and power is that condi will start to hurt one server tick later than power, doesn’t really seem like a valid argument if you think abt it that way
  16. They already said those things before the patch came out. They said they know there will be issues they won't have forseen but are looking to tackle them at a faster rate, i.e not a 3-4 month wait but 4-6weeks. People seem to think them saying they will do things faster means next day delivery when the time periods have clearly been laid out. Some people also say it's easy to spot the problems and "the forum is full of so many good ideas" or "just do X" but when you really look at the ideas a lot of them are knee jerk, terrible or aimed at not toning something down but out right removing it from viability. Edit: it's also been 7 days. Not everything would have been found. If changes were made next day some subset of the people clamouring for fast changes would complain that Anet didn't need some yet to be found build that was to anyone who is the poster. People seem to want some empty statements they already have the answers too but If Anet kept saying the same thing it's likely the same people would call them out for doing so. Stop trying to defend something that is factually bad practice. Changes don’t need to be made every second, stop using that as a point of contention, but there is absolutely no reason for anet to pass up this as an opportunity to reengage with the community. As someone else said, this isn’t 2005. You have no grounds for excusing bad practice, and there is no reason to try to defend something that OBVIOUSLY needs a facelift. Community engagement, either here or on reddit, builds structure. I’m sure many people think these forums are a cesspool of hatred and bad opinions, but that has more to do with creating a place where people think they might be heard, and then ignoring them for 5 years. (zero community engagement = zero community structure) Imagine how people would react IF we started getting actual responses in threads? Probably incredibly well. Wouldn't that put people at ease? Wouldn't that confirm these changes actually matter and things WILL improve? Especially after YEARS of this place being like shouting into the void, Is that such a crazy thing to hope for?
  17. Flat out incorrect. Holo and scrapper have both had time in the light over the past 2 years, now they’re a joke. Power classes aren’t in a good place.
  18. How is it acceptable for this patch to throw all competitive game modes into a condi bunker fiesta and anyone with a straight face can say “give them some more time” Go into the pvp arena. Every single player is a condi bunker. It is VERY clear there were massive oversights to an entire playstyle, its made pvp a joke. If they had actually intended to fix the pvp balance, taking extended periods of time to right their wrongs is unacceptable, and refusing to communicate with your community ABOUT the needed changes is ALSO unacceptable. You don’t get so say “we want feedback” and not respond to it. Anet created this dialogue, do they have the courage to actually engage? Probably not.
  19. Right? Am I crazy for thinking since this patch, and the implication that they wanted to revamp the competitive scene, our time had come and Anet would descend from the heavens upon us, finally wipe the tears from our eyes, and tell us it would be okay? But for real I was hoping we might finally have a discourse going on, still haven’t lost faith.
  20. Agreed! This is not how you balance a game at all. Want a good example? They didn’t even touch reflected damage. I hit myself with a 6k engi rifle auto reflect. That is blatant oversight.
  21. Bex is an incredible example of communication. Shes not exempt from harassment or bad comments, but she understands how the community operates and preservers. If I recall, Anet did the total opposite when faced with adversity.
  22. I agree, defending corporations is a fruitless endeavor. They're happy to staunch any tears your words might cause with the wads of cash players toss at their feet. This isn't about them. This is about the little guys, the devs, the playtesters, the people who come in and work their daily 9 to 5 to put food on the table. These guys, frankly, recieve a lot of flack. Some of it is deserved, but in cases like these where they've already established that this was an expected result that will be addressed, it's worth pointing that out. And I have no quarrels with any single developer, but Anet themselves. How crazy am I to think this is a great opportunity for the company to give their community engagement a well needed facelift? Am I supposed to have compassion for the person whos job that is? Cause anyone who’s ever worked retail will tell you thats not how it works.
  23. Now you aren’t even reading my posts. Running report = confirmation of feedback? Intentions of providing better customer service = fix everything? Hmmmmm. I think what I said made too much sense for you to argue, that you made up something in your head to respond to me with. Here I’ll simplify it for you : I have every right to ask for better communication, and Anet is in a very good position to give their communication a facelift. If they don’t, then that’s on their own incompetence. I’m genuinely blown away at how low a bar this thread set for Anet. It’s almost as if some of these posters don’t understand how lack of communication is a form of incompetence, and disrespect to the consumer. Reverse woke out here.
  24. I said blindly trust, and then referenced the past. Heres the thing, Anet has a horrid patch track record, and almost zero direct communication with their playerbase. How audacious do you think I’m being, if Cal and Ben BOTH said they wanted feedback? The last few years, ANYTHING pvp related posted on the forums was effectively like shouting into the void, you should know this. How do I know thats not still the case? And if you need evidence, look at my post history. Electro whirl reflect hasn’t worked in the pvp lobby for over two years, multiple people have posted about it (including me) with literally zero response, or acknowledgment. How can I feel like anything has changed if they have put in zero effort to make me think otherwise? I promise you, many people feel the same way as I do. But no, we have all these monkeys coming out of the woodworks defending Anet like they pay them! Guys, businesses are for profit, consumers fuel businesses, so don’t you think it’s reasonable to ask for better communication? Thats because it is reasonable, what is unreasonable is asking for feedback without communicating that the feedback is being heard.
