  1. It is so broken yet a holosmith will trash an SB every time? Arc divider, anyone? It really isn't broken when compared to the other roaming builds. There's never a limit on 1 broken build at a time. Just because holo smith needs serious nerfing too doesn't excuse soulbeast.
  2. Agree with this, however I still voted yes because firstly I can dream. But secondly (and predominantly) to communicate to the devs that many players are very unhappy with the way mounts are currently implemented in WvW. By seeing such a large portion of the players base disliking mounts so much that they would prefer them completely removed might hopefully lead them to compromise. Thus hopefully they will alter mounts so that they become more about out of combat movement rather than a combat dodger/barrier that can be used to completely avoid and/or gain an advantaged in fights.
  3. Its open world pvp, I don't want mobs that can greatly impact a fight to be a factor. The mobs in alpine and EB are perfect because they stand as a way to stop solo players/smallgroups instantly capping objectives, but are weak enough as to not affect player vs player fighting. The lord in the lava keep for instance has a ridiculous amount of AOE crowd control which greatly impacts fights in the lords room. If I want to pve, I'd go and play pve. This is open world pvp not a dungeon. This was the reason everyone hated it in the first place, too much annoying pve. No god please no. I was onboard for new maps before the abomination that was the old desert BL came out. Please not again. Please.
  4. Been said before my myself and others. Mounts should be an out of combat transportation tool, and should give absolutely no advantage in a fight, whether doing damage, or avoiding said fight. Dismounting an enemy should be extremely easy. We shouldn't have to run a broken soulbeast sic em build to do it.
  5. The problem was, and remains to be that the desert BL has too much focus on pve. The mobs are more plentiful and too powerful. Some of the keep lords are just worse than awful to fight in. So remove all the random op pve mobs all over the place, lessen the amount of guards and how strong they are, and please please make the keep/tower lords the same as we have in alpine. Spent the other day fighting in the lords room of the Lava keep at the desert bl, and it was just terrible with the amount of CC that mob does. But apart from overkill pve, I actually enjoy playing in the desert bl, but until the pve is tonned down to the level of the alpine, I vote to remove it.
  6. I love when people say this. The person who is winning an out numbered fight, needs to "learn" to work around a crutch for the less skilled and greater numbered group. The logic on here sometimes is astounding. I also like how every one is focusing on him being a thief class, when this problem has nothing to do with thief and affects all classes, as anyone can run into an out numbered fight. All I see are people who probably go down often in team fights because they are in the wrong position or not aware enough to mitigate an attack and not go down in the first place. Skill perception is relative. what if I'm using the random pug as bait? too complex? or am i just more skilled? If you are having to bait someone when you out number them, that doesn't make you more skilled. It means the other player has better tactics and you are having to use those numbers to your advantage. Downstate favors the larger team, that's why it's not a problem in sPvP, as teams are a forced set number. And if you run into a group that has the same number as you, or a 1vs1 in WvW, in that moment, nothing is broken about DS and it favors no one. However even fights in numbers are very rare in WvW, and DS gives the team who already has the numbers advantage yet another advantage of DS. This is why on no DS events, skilled play is rewarded, and winning 3, 4, 5vs1's are possible. It's rather highly skilled, it's baiting out the teef that just pogos or stealths away. perhaps your skill is in your fingers. my mind is just too complex for you to comprehend. therefore, i win and you will quit the game and QQ into the next. Also, why shouldn't the side with more numbers be favored? that is generally the case. the only difference is y'all believe you're some hero like Logan Thackeray . perhaps my skill is i have social skills to have friends to bring overwhelming firepower and 5v1 you. your skill might be in your fingers but not much else. Baiting doesn't make you more skilled than the out numbered person you are baiting. I don't have to bait to win fights vs a thief, I can deal with them just fine 1vs1 and outnumbered. Baiting also is not highly skilled, because it's a pug as you stated, you don't really care about them and not giving a second thought about rezzing them. If this was sPvP and an even numbered fight, then you would have a point, but when you outnumber someone that is not the case. The larger team does already have the advantage, you have the greater numbers, however, the way DS works is that it favors the larger team, a mechanic that favors the larger team, rather than skill is not good and reinforces balling up and skill spam. As for QQing, you seem to be doing that here, while I am talking about balance. And when I lose a 6vs1 and they siege me, I don't get mad, or QQ, I absolutely LOVE it. As frustrating someone so much they have to bring 5 other people to kill me just brings a smile to my face. You also seem quite defensive going for the personal jabs, as how many friends I do or don't have has what to do with balance exactly? I honestly can't tell if you are just trolling or if you are serious with this post. I am highly serious with my posts. the amount of friends you have is relative to social skills and put yourself in a situation to fight a 5v3 vs being a 1v3. see how skills are relative? keyboard skills are just one type. Ooooooooook....... hold my hand butter cup, for 50g you can join my squad of 50 and stomp the 1 roamer in pangloss to your heart's content. we'll make you a living story hero. They had us in the first half, im not gonna lie
  7. Yea pretty much bought the expac for the mounts. WvW was unplayable without them. I avoid pve like the plague, so WvW is the only reason I play this game, and having grinded for my mount over a few days, I can honestly still say, that despite paying for the expac and grinding for my mount, I would gladly pay the same price over to see mounts removed.
  8. The title of this thread would be improved if you removed the stomp part.
  9. Was going to make a post on this thread but it feels like everything's been said. I am curious how the majority of the player base feels though. I'm definetely in the "Warclaws are terrible" camp because as has already been discussed thoroughly in this thread, they discourage pvp in an open pvp game mode. But what would people think about tweaking war claws so they're only viable as out of combat transportation. Remove the movement speed bonus's when in areas controlled by your server and make the war claw a static speed (35-40% maybe?) Additionally give war claws around 2k of health, so people can't just use them as shield and to avoid fighting. Furthermore remove the stun effect when getting dismounted, due to how easy it would be to dismount an enemy. Give them only a single dodge when traited. Finally, give the mounts an AOE skill that dismounts you, and other enemy players within a certain range (To be determined) This way people could still use their mounts to get from Point A to Point B, but they would not discourage fights. TLDR make mounts essentially upgraded swiftness that look awesome (making customization and fashion still desirable) but does not affect the frequency of fights.
  10. I'm pretty sure no reasonable person look at soul beasts being able to perform 17k auto attacks when combined with sic em and attack of opportunity and thinks its balanced. I mean seriously. I made some posts about this a while ago and it sounded like the player base was 50/50 about this. But this thread has restored my hope in these forums a little bit. So SoulBeast + Sic em, is broken, with only a small minority (who probably run it) of people trying to delude the rest of us. Also might add, that it would be a dream come true if mounts were only useful for out of combat movement. Have mounts have a 2k health pool, with a single dodge when traited. This way people would actually have to fight in WvW again, and not use mounts as a shield, but as transportation. The majority of players are not complaining about this build because we love being invincible on mounts. We're complaining because its broken.
  11. Balance unfortunately has never been this games strong point. Take my advice and just play the game like its build wars 2. Because 90% of the time, the build you pick will determine the outcome. Why play a deadeye assassin when you can run a Sic em Souldbeast longbow ranger. Why pick core engi sustain over a scrapper or holosmith. Why run a support druid when a support firebrand makes your squad unkillable in an even fight (assuming the opposing force doesn't also run the same thing). I've come back to the game after a 2 year break hoping there would be a semblance of balance and thus more build variety. But 90% of the people you run into will be running a build found on meta battle. Support/dueling/sustain, doesn't matter what category. If you or your team aren't running these builds, you will lose to players who are, unless they are extremely inept and you outplay them to a ridiculous degree. The sooner you accept this the better. It sucks I know, but the reason this game never became an esports is because class balance against other classes in any pvp environment has never ever been a focus for the devs. So yea, don't run a staff ele, its terrible, and there are classes that do the same thing so much better. But you'll be waiting a lot longer than 2 years for balance to be taken seriously Im afraid.
  12. Mounts are great, I love not having to fight in a pvp game mode. Last night there was a player back capping the blood lust, but whenever I approached them they just rode away, which was excellent, i was worried I might have to fight them. But thanks to mounts fights are a much more rare occurrence and we can now all focus on what we love about wvw. The karma train. I sure hope anet don't add dismount skills, or maybe lower the mounts health and immunity to cc. Wouldn't it suck if mounts were only good for out of combat movement speed, and not used as a tool to avoid having to fight anyone ever. If that happened players might actually end up having to defend themselves or hold their ground or some other ludicrous form of pvp game play. But none of us would want that, who wants to fight when you can just ride to the next pve objective and fight the pve mobs like in pve. When a player turns up just ride away to the next camp or tower.Mounts are a great addition to wvw, all us wvw players who avoid pve like the plague sure do love that we don't fight players anymore.
  13. Probably would have just chained endure pain for days like spell breakers can and then great sworded away. Popped stability for safety. No I'm not advocating for its removal, just some tweaking. Maybe enemies go into downstate with less health. Maybe enemies rez speed is slower. Maybe stomp speed is faster. Or perhaps enemies cant be revived for 1-2 seconds? Idk something small, I'm happy to compromise and I'm not advocating to remove it, cause I know that's not gonna happen.
  14. Yes or no? Answer truthfully now. Because I think we all know the answer to that. You're posting an example that is incredibly biased toward this specific combat situation with your specific class of choice and your specific build of choice. It's quite possible that a single knockback or interrupt on the resser could have given you the stomp. Maybe you should have used poison. Maybe you should have been a staff stomper and simply pounded them both to submission. Who knows what could have happened with any other player on any other build. Absolutely I would have stomped him 1v1. Any player can get a stomp 1v1. Any build can stomp 1v1. I feel like a broken record player. Downstate favours the team with the numbers. 1v1 means that being outnumbered is not a problem, therefore downstate would not be problem. The problem occurs when you are outnumbered. Now that I have answered truthfully, Its your turn:Do you think that the speed in which a single non traited player can rez someone by simply pressing F is balanced? Do you believe that the health you start with in downstate is balanced? Perhaps I should post a video as a warrior next time? As nobody who is pro downstate seems to want to address just how rewarding it is to simply press F, or how quickly pressing F revives the player.
  15. No, its seems I should have edited the video to only show the stomp, I keep telling you that the fight and my death are irrelevant. If downstate was fixed and I got that stomp, and then died to the others in the camp, I would be 100% satisfied with that result. The fact that an enemy can be late to begin reviving after doing nothing and then simply pressing F is unbalanced. They make no intelligent decision, no smart play, no thought to predict my movements. All they do is exactly what an NPC would do. Walk to the player and press F and taking their time while doing so. You say they had no idea i was stomping? Then they should be punished for their lack of situational awareness. Any competent player that see's a downed ally knowing a stealth class is nearby would assume they may be stomping. That is a conclusion even an average player could comprehend. The enemy being at 68% hp after iv already begun stomping them, then being revived to 100% before I've completed a stomp that I have already begun is unbalanced in my opinion. Doesn't matter If i was a warrior, or if it was a 2v1 in an open field. The focus of my gripe is the speed at which pressing F can revive a player, and how the counter play of that which is stomping the player is so SO much slower by comparison. So if you believe that players reviving should SIGNIFICANTLY outpace stomping in every situation then just say so, and we can agree to disagree on that point. Or perhaps you think that outnumbered players shouldn't really be allowed to win in a team based game, then we can disagree on that. But talking about how I played in that clip is irrelevant. Its downstate I'm trying to discuss here.
  16. You seemed to have missed my point completely. The fact that I died doesn't matter. The fact that I should have left which is true in hindsight doesn't matter. The fact that I play with 300 ping and can't react as quickly does not matter. The responce to burst damage from a stealth class is not to "bring friends", not sure if you've played dead eye after the nerfs but bring friends Is completely unnecessary. There's a reason thief is put below ranger, warrior, engi and mesmer in the current meta. But as I'm trying to tell you all of this doesn't matter. The point is the stomp and the rez speed. It is broken that no matter how the fight is played out, what cool downs you use to down your foe, when you go for a stomp on the enemy, the counter play is for the allies (or in this case single ally) of the downed foe to press F. Thats it. Hell, they don't even need to be quick about it, as you can see when I slowed the vid down i was already 30% of the way through the stomp when the enemy started rezing. But are they punished for being slow to rez? No, of course not. Which to me is dumb. There should be more to counter play than just pressing F. You should cleave the body with CC first, maybe drop some passive AOE heals, just SOMETHING. Anything besides simply pressing F. If you go down you should be punished, by the laws of the game you have lost, and if your allies use counter play, then you should have a chance to get back up. But said counter play needs to exist. Smart support plays should be rewarded. Pressing F is not a smart support play. Pressing F should not counter play all the effort and cool downs that were used to down the enemy to begin with. Pressing F is not counter play. I just want to reiterate that this example is purely how easy it is to rez, and not how good/bad I am at the game. This can be applied to so many situations. Many of them larger team fights. I'm not looking for extreme fixes here, I just think that if you're fighting with numbers on your side and you go down, then you're team should be on the back foot. They should have to play intelligently in order to get you back into the fight. But in the games current state they don't. They just press F.
  17. Well when I say competitive I should clarify that I'm mostly talking about balance, which is an essential part of any game casual or not.EDIT: I changed the title to unbalanced for better clarification.
  18. Seen a few posts about this, thought I'd add my voice to the mix. Currently my biggest gripe with this game since coming back is how easy it is to revive players who have been downed. Seems very anti competitive that finishing off a downed enemy when outnumbered is often more difficult than outplaying them into downstate to begin with. I've uploaded this video to emphasis how much downstate plays to the advantage of the team reviving over the team stomping. Personally I think if you go down, then it should be difficult for your allies to get you back into the fight, it should require coordination and healing skills, not just pressing F. Afterall you've already gone down right? Why should the game reward you for this by allowing you to get back into the fight so very easily? Seems to be very little consequences for going down as long as your allies have an index finger. For instance: In this video I manage to down an enemy scourge while fighting outnumbered. I burn through my cool downs to take him down, I burn one of my essential stun breakers/suriviability tools; shadow step, in order to close the gap ASAP and confirm the kill. I begin stomping and get about 30% through the animation before somebody begins to revive. Enemy is around 68% when they actually start reviving. Despite all this, the SINGLE enemy that was late to the rez is STILL able to revive the player. How is this fair or balanced in any way? Here I am fighting well outnumbered, burned thorough many cool downs to down the enemy, burn through another simply to close the gap for the stomp, begin stomping well before the rez begins and yet im thwarted by an enemy player who presses F. That's it. That is all they do. They press F and they win. I'm not advocating to remove downstate or anything else that's too extreme, but come on anet throw us few who fight outnumbered a bone... please? Don't even get me started on how impossible it is to double down someone who's running with a support player. I am curious how the majority of the player base see's this though, am I alone in thinking that going into downstate should be punished a tad more?
  19. No ranger main, sorry, but I love killing those high-dps rangers^^Ok 2.5k armor is at least a Little bit above the base. Giving you 18% damage reduction, but it is not that remarkably high. And yes together with the Mount he got through 24k HP in 2 seconds. But he still got you knocked for those 2s otherwise the outcome could have been different. In GW2 you can either choose to Play "fast" (low armor and HP) or Play "slow" (3k+ armor, 22k+ hp), and your enemy can do the same, so if 2 fast Players meet, the fight is over even faster. If you think it is broken then go for 3k armor, 25k HP and add some protection and the -10% damage Food. You will easily survive such an attack then. And yes that burst has a 1500 range, but usually you don't fight a longbow ranger on open field, that is where his territory is. A full bersi holo, full bersi revenant, full bersi thief etc, they can all go through 24k in 2 seconds when prepared for bursting. Complaining should not be about a single skill, but rather on the range of the overall Maximum offensive vs Maximum defensive possibilties in the game. I assume that is what you wanted to say with "no build" should be able to burst for so much. I know everyone has his own opinion on burst builds, I think they should exist and have their place in order to make the game more exciting. Thats fair enough each to their own. I am a thief main and i think the 1 shot dead eye build that got nerfed into the ground was justified(although less so seeing as this build didn't). I don't think any build should deal even close to the damage seen in the video, and personally see the acceptance of builds like that as adding to the extreme power creep. Currently I need to build malice to burst, and I can't come close to that sort of dps, and unlike rapid fire my burst can be evaded with a single well time dodge, even a double dodge will not completely dodge rapid fire. But It seems to be just disagreement on what builds should exist. Like I said, I don't think anything should ever be able to do that much damage that quickly ever, on any class or any build. EDIT: Upon reflection I would accept a high burst build that is basically 100% dead once it misses its burst. But certainly not one that has 1,500 range. Used to be a kill shot engi that was used by some back in the day (although even it cant match the burst of that ranger) that required the engi to be on top of the enemy to land the burst.
  20. Nice burst but nothing I would call OP, sorry: 1) being on Mount involves the risk of a knockdown due to dismount, as a thief you should have dismounted as soon as you saw him on your Screen, go invisible and hit him to death. I have to admit I don't know by heart if a stunbreak can be applied after dismount-knockdown. If yes -> stunbreak, doubledodge, go stealth, Counter.2) you have like.... 14k HP? and I don't want to ask how much armor, but maybe the 1000 base-toughness and nothing else? And what buffood did you use? One glass-cannon can kill another glass-cannon in 2 seconds, that is fine IMO in the same way as one Bunker cannot kill another bunker. A full dps revenant or thief could have probably killed you in a similar amount of time. Iv got 2.5k Armour. No build under any circumstances should be able to burst for so much damage so quickly without any buildup or setup.2 seconds and he was able to go though 24k health with an average Armour of 2.5k. That is broken plain and simple. Not to mention that burst has a 1,500 range. Only a ranger main would claim this isn't broken. Im also not counting the 19k wordy impact on my downed body. EDIT: Might add without great risk also, as that build has no risk given how much survivability soulbeast gives you
  21. Im just gonna leave this here:
  22. Another request for the Pirate corsair skins to be brought back. Also waiting for Zafirah's rifle skin to return, instant buy the moment those items appear.
  23. 10 seconds may be a tad extreme (although I won't deny if I had my way there would never be any downstate) Seems the general consensus with most WvW players is that downstate always benefits the players with the numbers. Something needs to be done. Perhaps 10 seconds is too extreme but surely people don't actually believe that downstate as it exists now is a fair and competitive addition to WvW. It clearly gives an extreme advantage to the group with numbers on their side. I don't care if you disable rez for 1 second or 10. Perhaps have enemies that are downed start downstate with less health? But something needs to change. The fact that 1 player rezzing a downed player is faster than the stomp animation is an extremely flawed concept.
