  1. I think, GW2 was more preferential towards PVE from the beginning. They wanted to tell a story. That is what got me interested in it to start with. PVE and WVW have always been flawed in the game. It is the PVE content that has always been superior to any other games around. But I hear you. WIth PVE updates being few and far between, regular players will get frustrated. Personally, I am happy to return after such a long break. Whether I will be happy is something that only time can tell. I wouldnt be that sure. I remember times when their fb page was full of esport (pvp) announcements. They made interviews with pro players. They was organizing world championships. And week by week they promoted esl tournaments. It was PvP focused game for sure. Otherwise they wouldnt start to work with esl at all. Which pure pve game does smt like that? Lol. None. And meantime yeah - it was always about pve too. Which focused mainly on the story.
  2. It all depends on you. And your expectations. First of all you have to ask yourself what exactly Guild Wars 2 is. And deal with it. Like it or don't and then play it or move somewhere else because there's no point in supporthing games which you don't approve. It makes whole industry worse. A lot of people makes mistake that they play the game but they focus mainly on things like: "What Guild Wars 2 could be?" And they ignore the fact what Guild Wars 2 actually is. And what's GW2? The only MMORPG which let you to play PvP similar to MOBA games. I mean. You can login, play some matches and logoff. Just like that. You don't have to grind etc, etc. All what matters is yours personal skill. But what's important to admit. Guild Wars 2 is not popular and good as some top MOBA games. So it's good for people which want to play something like MOBA but in MMO. PvP is far away from perfet here. It still needs a lot of work. And ArenaNet made a lot of mistakes. But after all it's really hard to find another MMORPG which offers this kind of PvP. WvW (Mass-PvP) which don't give you simple goal or something like that. You have to find goal on your own there otherwise playing it will be pointless for you. You can run with zergs, roam with friends or search for duels there. It's all on you. Story which appears usually once per 2/3/4 months. So you can treat it as single player RPG. And pve which is very casual here. If you want to search for real challenges in pve here, then you have to find them on your own (and you won't get rewards for it - just ur own satsfaction). You can do everything with pugs. So you can have fun while playing solo but with people around you. Or group up with people and socialize + play pve meantime. Without stress. Game don't force you to group up. In pve there's activities like: dungeons, fractals, strike missions, raids and a lot of open world stuff. Social or Role Play aspect. So all what's fully created by community. Don't expect anything more. If you will like smt from things listed above then GW2 will be fine for you.
  3. People spend real money on Guild Wars 2 so they want to ensure themselves that they didn't wasted their money. They may see that something wrong is happening but they won't tell it loudly. And they will attack others who does it.
  4. Its nothing new that some company works only on one game which is MMORPG. And don't release anything else. Because they don't have to. This kind of companies are formed only because of these MMORPG's. Otherwise they wouldn't be formed. In MMORPG genre its something usual. Publisher finds company which focus on some game and all they have to do is working on this game.
  5. To change it they would have to become publisher. And invest their own money (not gave them from NCSoft) to other projects. And then release them on their own. Then yeah. They would have ArenaNet GW2 team which is driven by NCSoft. And ArenaNet for other projects, which is independent.
  6. Imagine being so salty when it's just 7+ years old game. We have to wait until it hit 15 at least. 7+ years means nothing. Its still in beta.
  7. Oh, the mode that has been dying since the game's release and currently is probably a lot more dead than raids/fractals? Sounds like a good idea. I have yet to see good and attractive MMO PvP, so I'll stick to shooters if I want to do PvP. With regard to the topic, I don't expect to see any informative dev response. Unless Tuesday brings something very unexpected, I'll probably just reduce my GW2 activity by a lot - there's no new fun content and the old one is becoming, well, old. What? Yes. I know what is the current state of PvP. Pro scene died around early 2017. But its still more alive than PvE. Because of AT's for example. How can PvP be more dead than fractal and raids since as we all know (since saga announcement) that this kind of content won't be releasing anymore.Gw2 was always about casual PvE. Since 2012. With a small exception from 2015 to ~2017. When they really tried to push raids so hard. But after w4 and w5 it was almost clear that they'll be slowly moving back to casual PvE in this game. And it just happened. As you can see GW2 PvE is focusing on story + strike missions atm. Even if ArenaNet will focus on hardcore PvE content in the future again (what I doubt). Then I bet they will do it just for a while. Not for a long time. The only chance for real endgame and challenges in this game are PvP oriented game modes.

  9. There's no group queue in ranked since season 4. And as we can see it slowly gets worse with every season.AT's are fine but its not enough. So how about some test season with group queue allowed? And we would see if it worked or not.PvP is already in a pretty bad place. So it won't destroy anything tbh. And who knows, maybe it will be better then?
  10. Yeah. Its old, well-known truth. When pvp is good then it don't force devs to work on it 24/7.Because you fight against real people there. And every opponent is different. This mode drives itself. While pve is never done. You can't keep pve endgame alive around old content.Doing old pve content over and over again is too boring. Pve is mainly about new content. Which must appear pretty fast to keep people interested. And GW2 pvp is missing one simple thing: group queue in ranked games...AT's are fine but imo its not enough.
  11. Eve has had a pretty bad reputation from leadership to game play to community (and a cash shop and many consider it moving to pay2win). FF14 had ungodly critical reviews at release and the user base went mad, so bad that they "suspend subscription fees, indefinitely postponed the PlayStation 3 version, and replaced the development team leadership" FF14 also still has a cash shop. WoW, for end game gear big time, is super grindy and pretty much all RNG, this was supposed to be fixed, it also has a good sized cash shop still, and things like mounts are $25-30 a pop. It no matter if FF14 was well or bad rated at start tbh. Don't forget their publisher is Square... They know very well what to do. And how to succeed. And Final Fantasy isn't some random title for them. It's the apple of their eye.Squaresoft/enix is synonymous of quality for more than 30 years now. Most of their games are pieces of art. It was only a matter of time before they fix their game. Also you can tell bad or good things about WoW. And after all it no matter. Grindy or not grindy. Who cares? It's WoW who's still top1 for about 15 years now. Not GW2.
  12. This is one of the big reasons why I don't like subscription games. I feel like I have to play it because I've already paid for it, and then I don't enjoy it as much because I feel like I'm forcing myself to play it even when I might otherwise choose to play anyway. Most people needs to be motivated (or as you call it: "forced") to play more. Otherwise they won't. And this is good for mmorpg game to be played more often by its players. Than less. This kind of games have to be addictive. Otherwise they're usually dying. Most people also like this feeling of having acces to something inaccessible for others. It makes them feel better. Unique. Even if it comes to ingame goals. Most people prefer to be "forced" to play some content. Pushed to do it. Rather than look for some goals on their own.
