Banner of Tactics needs to be summoned UPON breaking stun

I know that seems like such a niche quality of life complaint to bark about, but I’ve played this game way to long and see what’s coming with this change. Warrior desperately needs stability in competitive game modes and this change could actually fix that. Only problem is I know how this sort of stuff works and I am fully expecting anet to give us the break stun and then we have to cast the banner afterwards.
This is a mistake.

I’m too cynical in my time of playing this game to expect such a quality of life change. We need banner of tactics to be summoned UPON breaking the stun. If not breaking a stun then it can be summoned regularly.

The reason for me whining about this is because of the nature of cc chaining in world v world and PVP. Typically with cc the opponent wants to continue cc chaining until you’re dead. And when you’re getting CCed by groups this is even more true. If we have to cast a banner for 3/4 a second after breaking a stun then we’re way too vulnerable and this ability won’t be as useful as it should be.

Please make this simple quality of life change so that we don’t have to deal with this insanely cumbersome result. It sounds petty and small but this is the same reason why stomp isn’t as useful as it should be. Having an animation locked ability after breaking a stun is super cumbersome unless were invulnerable or have some sort of utility.

And on that note make stomp have evade frames in the animation so we’re not super vulnerable to attacks, similar in nature to Bulls charge.

Physical. Throw bolas to immobilize your foe.

  Damage: 66 (0.25)?

  Immobilize (4s): Unable to move.

  Maximum Count: 2

  Count Recharge: 20 seconds

  Combo Finisher: Physical Projectile

  Range: 1,200

Uh.

Lan. The juicy 7% extra dmg from peak performance dude.  SEVEN %! For 6 seconds!

With a 37,5% Uptime!

Other classes are crying to get it nerfed!

I'm not joking i was looking at the skill thinking that it might have had a weird interaction with Leg Specialist? But it doesn't, it's not a cripple, it's a direct immobilize. There's the Opportunist synergy but it's in Arms. And you need to take Strength to get Peak Performance.

Sooo...it's a Arms Strength build? Yikes.

No, it can be used to perma immobilize one target, but it is a projectile and is easy as hell to dodge.

I mean, sure, but then to make use of the opportunist trait you need arms, and to make use of the peak performance trait, you need strength. What do you play this with, then? Maybe a wonky Sword/Sword core-build that spams movement impairing conditions? Sounds fun but i don't know how it would work. Also, you pick bolas, what else do you pick? You need SIO, you probably need Bull Rush too, so your utilities are locked. Maybe a Hammer-Sword/Mace build with bodyblow/quickness and merciless hammer/stalwart strength? The build lacks stability, and your utilities aren't that open.

My building game isn't good, enlighten me Lan-sensei

You wouldn't use Opportunist with it, you'd use Wounding Precision to maximize duration or use Leg Specialist and a cripple to increase immobilize options. Rifle would be the best weapon for such a build, and that should clue you in immediately on how not effective it would be, but it would be a backline support type build for WvW smallscale.

I've done such builds in the past with Cele stats, they work well in locking down a high value target and loading them up with vulnerability for your team to spike down, but Throw Bolas has no place anywhere on anyone's skill bar ever. It is a garbage skill that actively makes a build worse by taking it. It is a trap utility made by General Akbar himself.

The only way it would work is if it flipped over into a 900 range pull, or threw three bolases at the target and nearby targets, at +50% of the current projectile speed, essentially turning it into an immob version of Spectral Grasp.

Something with the banners that anet never took into account is that when you take them you lose an absurd amount of healing for giving a blessing that possibly disappears because of all those nicros hanging around, in other words, you throw away an ability when taking them, the blessing that you give persistently is pretty useless in most banners and its effects when falling are weak enough to compensate for it being the crutch for the support warrior... well, before could you use the crutch to hit them.
