Please fix disparity of leather availability compared to other base crafting mats.

I would rather that crafting materials would all increase in price rather than that the few worth thinking, "Oh, nice, I got X." come down in price.  The game feels incredibly unrewarding as it is, and making more mats meh would make that issue more pronounced.

I dont know how making base material cost high makes the game any better. Amount of materials needed to craft anything useful is already excessive. They just need to somehow balance the prices (leather is too expensive, cloth is almost vendor trash and wood/metal is pretty OK)

And theres already loads of hard to get materials in the game (some stuff to craft insignias for exotic stuff and ascended/legendary mats) , so base mats dont need to be in that category.

Crafting already is bit bonkers. Named (Devona) full set of exotic heavy berserker armor costs 1.76g and you can get crafted set of berserker for low low price of 37 gold and bunch of silver. If you want set of celestial crafted it was around 70g last time i checked. This stuff does not need to become any more expensive.

If you like wasting gold sure. Personally I would spend less than 6g instead.

If your goal is cheaper way to acquire gear multiple options already exist.

If your goal is just cheaper materials for whatever reason then carry on I guess...

What ArenaNet could do is adjust the recipe for the patches to require 5 refined leather instead of 10 and 5 refined cloth instead of 4.  Or they can do 6 refined leather and 4 refined cloth to mirror the proportions in the inscriptions.

https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Gossamer_Patch

This would immediately halve the leather cost with the cost adjusting further over time. Their approach back in 2015 was very heavy handed and resulted in an excessive over-correction.

Only celestial gear on TP is crafted and one piece costs double that, so good luck getting a set for less than 6. And this stuff is not that widely available as drops. Pretty much everything that drops is account bound and cannot be traded, so quite a bit of luck is required to get full set for cheap.

That is a great tool but like any other tool it has its limits.

Helm

https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Adventurer's_Mantle - requires a bit of crafting but if you are using t6 materials then you have the necessary crafting levels

https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Ice_Golem's_Maw_Box - most expensive but least restrictions

Chest

Why are you talking about TP prices of the final items while complaining about the cost of materials? The TP prices are around 2x the cost the materials.

For the exotic armor sets for stats that require additional items which make them very expensive, I suggest crafting the Lunatic armor instead.  It’ll cost you around 5G per piece. The only caveat is that the recipes are only available during Halloween.

This is no longer universally true. OP mentions celestial and for celestial it is a bit cheaper to directly craft the exalted/draconic/emblazoned sets even.

Lunatic still has its advantages though. It covers all except EoD stats and it is account bound instead of soulbound on equip.

It’ll depend on the set but yeah, they should check first.

OK, didnt know those boxes are available. Doesn't make crafting that basic exotic stuff any more attractive though. ITs only further proof that cost of crafting is completely messed up at the moment. You can buy same stuff for pennies that cost arm and leg to craft.

Probably because crafting recipes been the same for years and economy shifted during those years. Now TP is filled with exotic drops and crafting material requirements are still from years past when exotic gear actually  was worth something.

TP prices were just an indicator about disparity of crafted vs dropped items in my post.

I'm sure the TC is thinking about making the game better for himself.  Lowering crafting material sale values makes the game worse for me. Raising the sale values would make the game better for me.  That 's how it would make the game better.  Any change is likely to have those in favor and those opposed.

From my point of view, selling the stuff the game throws at me is the only benefit from loot.  Am I being selfish?  Maybe, but no more selfish than those who want to pay less.
