How long would it take to get 2 white mantle weapon skins?

As in title. I've never raided before and generally don't plan to as I have bad social anxiety and the general impression I have of high end players is toxicity and zero forgiveness.

Per the wiki, shards are capped at 300 per week, each weapon from the vendor is 600. I doubt I could do all of the raid content required to cap out per week, but even then for 2 weapons that's 4 weeks minimum. I don't much like the idea of dreading my gameplay interactions for 4 weeks straight.

Sure, the boss of salvation pass has a chance to drop a chest with one of the weapons, but I imagine that's incredibly rare.

How painful would this really be?

It's as painful as you make it. You can calculate the "time" but "pain" is relative. But you assume correctly, it will take you a while to learn how to raid to clear enough raids to buy the exclusive item with magnetite (not a drop). Learning raids (not being carried for clears) will take time, far more than 4 weeks.

My advice, either push through your anxiety and decide to engage with the content and enjoy it, or just give up now. Not worth "suffering" for a skin. Or, I guess you could pay for raid clears, but I can't actually recommended that.

Good luck.

It's probably going to be painful if you just want the weapon reward.

My question I want you to consider for yourself: Do you want to get into raiding? And by getting into raiding, I mean, play it regularly for the gameplay and not just for the reward.

If yes, well, there is a small guide in my signature below how I got into raiding with raiding anxiety. You will need to take the time to pick a role you want to play in the group and configure your build/gear accordingly, watch Mukluk's guides as many times as you need to get a bit familiar with the encounter you want to play.

In my experience, the best raid wings to start with are wings 1, 3 or 4. Wing 2 is a bit tricky because the devs put the hardest boss first, and with random groups the slothosor is still the boss that we very regularly wipe one, at least a few times.

As you start you further will need a few things:

  1. A beginner friendly raiding guild world be perfect. If you are on EUR servers and want an invite to "Unskilled and Afraid [BAD]" let me know. This guild has beginner friendly runs every week in which you don't need to be afraid to fail a mechanic. We still expect you to have prepared a bit and if you sign up to an event to actually be there in time.
  2. Emboldened is your friend. Especially if wings 1 to 4 is emboldened. It allows you to have less to worry about DPS so you can focus on doing the mechanics right.
  3. The LFG training tab is your friend. Take a true training run, not a semi-training which actually is no training at all. In training runs focus lies on learning and less on making the kill.

If you can combine the three above it would be even better. (An emboldened training run or an emboldened guild run)

Also, if you are new to instanced group content in general, I would advise to get familiar with normal mode strike missions before starting with raids.

Even with all of this, you will run into toxic players sooner or later. Just as in real-life, some people are just unforgiving by nature and can't stand losing. Accept that you will encounter this and if it is bad, move on to a different group.

Thank you, this is informative. I wasn't even aware there was an 'emboldened' effect. I may eventually be ready, and I will take your advice to heart if so.

Pretty sure you can have it drop from Escort (Wing 3 first raid) which isn't really a real raid.

If you do it every week eventually you will get the coffers and also minis that can convert to magnetite.

If your only goal is the weapon skins I would look into other options.

Depends which weapons the OP wants, as escort currently can only drop focus, scepter and hammer.

(I wrote currently, because the loot from escort is bugged since more then two years.)
