Fix the WvW defense event

Either make doing damage or destroying siege while defending an objective under siege count, or change the description to something like "Kill at least 1 player (and do at least 51% of the damage) not further than 2m from the objectives wall and afterwards idle close to the same objective until the end of some timer. Oh, and make sure it's a full moon night."

This is a frequent problem with games (and sometimes other things in general), where players are punished for the actions of a few people gaming the system.

Essentially people were farming Stonemist castle by constantly repairing the walls. Of course, any one with a life wouldn't bother with this, but then again I suppose it may have been bot friendly. Instead of doing something about the castle, they messed up a system that works fine the other maps.

There is also an issue of the objective being contested. Either the wall/gates must be attacked or the guards must be aggrod. This means you can kill someone at an objective and get nothing if they didn't aggro the guards. Meanwhile the objectives get contested if some random npc animal stares at a guard or if you throw a siege blueprint at a guard. But... to the next point.

Killing enemy siege does nothing. Why? In some cases it could be because it's too far away from the objective but rams don't count either. Considering destroying siege is a key factor in stopping most attacks, that should really be a thing.

The irony in this is that it is usually easier to get defender by taking an enemy objective with an afk enemy, and then killing the afk enemy once guards aggro on them. Or leaving downed enemies in the objective until you flip it. And yes, I've seen people do this. This is not exactly very friendly gameplay.

Personally, I would suggest extending the defense area to the entire gliding zone as the objective's territory, and allow siege to be destroyed to count. They could also make it so you have to destroy a fully built siege site if you really wanted to be that pedantic in case there was some obscure exploit.

They did all these updates and changes (Making wvw worse in every single way) because alliances was supposed to fix it, it was in prep for alliances. Just like them removing the Outnumbered pips cause they were like "but alliances". 

2 years later. WvW is still in a worse state and no alliances.

Defense needs way more flags, yeah. There are a number of things that players can do to help defend a base, but only one thing really counts. You need to kill one player among a group of players. Often times as a defender you'll be outnumbered or the enemy group will work its way out of the zone of influence if a true threat emerges. There needs to be credit for attempting to thwart enemy attacks, even if against all odds.

Also, we don't really have a good way to keep participation if we are trying to defend a base against a treb attack with shield generators and repairing. We used to be able to repair to keep our participation active. ArenaNet need to go back to the drawing board with defense event contribution.
