And then we have whatever that thing Longbow is supposed to be.

This isn't exactly the right place to talk about warrior but having merely 2 ranged weapon skillsets out of 8 weapons skillsets is far from being a good balance. And when you consider that those 2 skillsets are far from performing well... Well... It's lacking.

On another hand ranger look almost balanced in term of ratio with 4 weapon skillsets out of 8 being ranged.

Ranger has a good ranged weapon in lb, good med ranged weapons in sb and axe. Ranger has ranged weapons pretty covered but if they wanted Ranger to have another ranged weapon be viable for damage they could easily change a druid traitline to change staff between healing and damage, of course auto attack on staff damage coefficient would have to remain lower do to its current form but it's other skills could deal decent damage and would fill the role.

Again...ranger needs off hand shield or sword. No rifle, no pistol and no ridiculous maces( which were getting lol).

That said rifle is def better idea vs pistol.

The thought of being in the jungle and suddenly you hear a faint shrieking from the treeline and then getting jumped by a Ranger with 2 maracas is horror movie material.

i dont see how rife going to help ranger

mace is a fine choise just deal with it

wanna play with rifle play engi

im tired with all this we need rifle therat

well thematically a mace is  a warrior/soldier weapon. Since rangers are adventurers they use dexterity rather than brute force.

Given that ArenaNet seems to have decided that damage druid should be using conditions, I wonder if staff should be rejigged so that the damage it does is condition based rather than power based. Make it suitable for celestial hybrid builds.

If using the precise definition of mace as an anti-armour metal-headed bludgeoning weapon, yes. There are a lot of weapons intended for unarmoured or lightly-armoured combat made from natural materials that would count as maces for game mechanical purposes - and weapons that can be fashioned in the wild seems completely on-brand for rangers to me.

Maybe a club.
