Balance: Stacking more than one Specter in Squads can punish your groups DPS.

In-case everyone isn't aware, the only venom that stacks from thief is Basilisk venom.  If you bring more than one Specter to a squad composition, you can unintentionally punish the overall squad DPS if the Specter's aren't intentionally staggering their damage venoms.  If two thieves activate for example spider venom at the same time, you don't get 12 stacks of spider venom - there's just 6, so someone's venoms are being overwritten.   This doesn't seem intentional, and is frustrating because venoms are a large portion of Specter's burst.

IIRC it is actually intentional. It's still bad and should be changed.

The original reasoning was to prevent groups from starting an encounter by breaking defiance bar (through basi) and part of a pattern one or two balance teams ago of preventing groups from starting an encounter with high damage. The newest balance team has since nerfed the damage on venoms though and condition thief builds have become more popular.

You can just change one of the venom and replace it with the condi pit , just ask the fellow specter which venom he keeps and go for the other , but thats true it's weird it doesnt stack up , firebrand has the same kind of mechanic with ashes of the just and it does stack up , don't see why not venoms

Pvp. Also fun fact, basi venom can stack but no more then 2 stacks. It used to have two stacks on each cast, but was changed. I guess anet didn't bother to decrease or increase the stack amount. I'm convinced even with a skill split, anets spaghetti code won't let them stack venoms and they gave up a long time ago
