Reward track optimization?

Recommended Posts

Aside from eating every booster and WXP buff available, what else is there to maximize reward track gain/speed?

I'm not in an active WvW guild and finding a zerg to run with can be tricky so I end up with a lot of non-productive time running cross country trying (and usually failing) to catch up with whatever pugmander I can see.

Is EBG better for WXP, is borderlands better, or is it completely dependent on randomly-fluctuating population?

I've got a few tracks I want to power through, but cross country jogging just isn't getting it done. What's the most reliable approach?

Reward tracks relies on participation levels, so keep that up as much as possible. To optimize this, yes running in a zerg helps to build it quickly, but once you get to tier 6 you just need to maintain it, and easiest things to do so is kill a player or capture an objective for the 10mins boost. If you're roaming on borderlands, camps are the places to go hunting for this, and defending your homebl is probably the better option, as there's usually other roamers out capturing your camps, for the same reasons.

Look at places that have been captured in the northern areas of your homebl, a lot of times enemy roamers are able to capture the three north camps without even a fight, these are most likely the places that would reflip to yours when RI is up. Look at the RI, if something is on a long RI then go kill a guard there and then move on to the next place to recap, this is tagging for credit later on. You have to read the map on what's going and what's going to happen.

Or you could just get to t6 and then just cap a camp every 10 mins like some of the lazy people do, you don't lose participation when you log off so this is easy to maintain between sessions.

Just some minor corrections/clarifications:

1. Th WvW reward track is the one which you select, and which fills ever 20,000 reward track points. (https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/WvW_Reward_Track)

2. What you might be referring to is the "skirmish" reward track, which is affected by pips. (https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Skirmish_reward_track)

The former will be more interesting for players who wish for a specific reward track reward (for example Gift of Battle). The later is for players who wish to increase their pips per minute.

The bonuses available to boost either are on the wiki. As far as getting the most skirmish WxP ranks per hour, here are some pointer:

1. Use as many WxP buffs as possible (all listed here: https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/World_Experience). Don't forget the amulet, guild booster and having permanent a celebration buff going is a given (consider using WvW dedicated characters if you want to save on booster)

2. Buy the weekly 5 WvW ranks at the "new" merchant. This is a trade of skirmish tickets for WvW ranks.

3. Buy Box of WvW Supplies as often as you can and open them (https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Box_of_WvW_Supplies)

4. The most WxP is from activity and player numbers. EBG might have more activity more often, but a border might have a karma train or fights going.

On point 4 don;t maximize WxP gain, maximize your fun. You are NOT going to grind 10k WvW ranks while hating what you are doing. If you enjoy playing though, those ranks will accrue faster than you think.

Even if your guild isn't active in WvW check to see if they unlocked:

https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Guild_Enhancement:_World_Reward_Tracks

https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Guild_Enhancement:_World_Experience

Plus on your amulet can go with:

https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/WxP_Enrichment

Once you reach T6 you are set. Just make sure you don't let your participation tick down by not logging out when you are done in your gaming session since it carries over from the last time you in were in the game mode. Clear your bags outside of WvW, not inside. As far as which map, depends on your play style. The three ways fights if fighting is occur in SMC is probably the fastest.

If your small scale and are active in kills and takes then hunt outnumbered for good gains: https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Outnumbered.

You might want to check into foods that also give boosts example: https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Plate_of_Sesame-Crusted_Coq_Au_Vin

And if you have any of these still before they were removed: https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Potion_of_WvW_Rewards

If you really want to optimize it, try to enter WvW just before a tick starts (and do a quick map change so you get rewards the first tick), and leave WvW after you get rewards for a tick.  If there are 4 minutes left on the tick, sure, leave at that point, but if there is only 30 seconds, it is probably worth it to hang out to get that reward before leaving.  Even if you don't want to time your entry into WvW based on ticks, swapping maps to get the first reward is probably still worth it - otherwise, you could be spending up to 5 minutes and not getting any rewards for that time.

If you really want to optimize things, enter WvW before a tick starts, swap maps so it you rewards that first tick, get the reward, then exit WvW.  Repeat as needed - you can get an hour+ of rewards with 10 minutes of participation, because you are only in WvW for 30 seconds or so for each reward.  This does still require you to be at your computer and doing something else (automating this would be against ToS), but can be a fairly easy way to get through the reward tracks.
