And it was then proven incorrect and even base game lore compared to jade bot that need a specific expansion.

That's because I mixed up the new bee with the SAB bee-dog, like kiroho said.  It looked a lot like it in the brief scene I saw it in.  That was my mistake.

My point still stands though, homestead shouldn't contain as a main feature something from another expansion.  (jade bot from EOD).  This is probably why they created a bee model instead of reusing the jade bot.

What about players who don's own End of Dragons? Anyway, why not do it the same like in ESO? just let the player character walk around there when doin a preview.

I think it's a great idea. I feel it would give more role to the bot instead of being just a gizmo used in Cantha. And also I feel using the bot to help me decorate the house, having more sense than transforming into a bee, that looks like a developer debug tool. At the end what matters is the use, but using our bots could provide a better presentation of the function.

For the players that haven't got EoD, I'm sure it wouldn't be difficult add a second way to obtain another bot in this expansion, like they did with the Skyscale mounts.

Why does it have to be lore friendly? I think personally the creative minds behind this feature thought of the bee because, 1. It's cute, 2. Bees are workers, they build hives, your homestead is a kinda your hive, certainly when you can place up to 30 of your alts there. You simply turn into a bee to make decorating (hopefully) easier, which has nothing to do with the lore. A bee however makes more sense in a natural habitat where jade technology isn't known. And if you really struggle with the lore friendliness of it all, decorate your homestead with a Soulbeast (ranger), and pretend that the bee is the pet you become one with. 

I totally understand that you love your jadebot and that you'd like to see it being used more, but like others have said, it's a feature from another expansion, that mostly only makes sense lore wise in Cantha as you (officially) need jade batteries to charge it, which I haven't seen elsewhere in the world either. So even though jade bots are awesome, they kinda aren't as lore friendly outside of Cantha either.

And yet, there is a Jade Bot Workbench in the Homestead (shown in the PCGamer video).  Although, I don't think the 'bee' should be a Jade Bot, I also don't think it is because of lore.

The bee idea made sense for Super Adventure Box.  I would go as far to say; Jade bot for the new expansion would make (progression wise) sense.

The reason its not a jade bot is probably cause if someone doesn't have EoD expansion it would make no sense to suddenly have a Jade bot in Janthir Wilds(Jade bot is a EoD feature)

By using the Bee idea again; people that played SAB will/might associate it with "that Bee" aka recycled idea?

I totally understand why it was done like this;

1st) Most important reason (i think): this bee model is the same for all players; meaning no need to do custom modifications per Tyria race(the player model is replaced by a generic model). 

2nd) less need to reinventing the wheel; if they used the Bee from SAB as a reference it saves alot of trouble.

Now.... have they explored all other possibilities, was this the only feasible option? that is open for debate. "Hands can be tied" indeed.

 

But i am sure, even we as consumers can come up with some more interesting alternatives. for example:

Miniaturize the player's character to the size of the Bee; give it a cosmetic backpack of fairy wings and presto:

We have a fairy like avatar of our own character that serves as the actual builder of their own Home.

And from a logical perspective: I cant see a nameless generic Bee possess the coordination/intelligence/fingers to grab stuff and create complex placement according to the wishes of a Hero who has never laid eyes upon said Bee's labor.

Or maybe its a very very special bee... that's also possible o7

The jade bot workbench will most likely be a functional decoration like the one we currently have for the guild halls. So it will most likely only be available for those who own EoD. That's my guess at least.

Actually i like the idea of the jade bot. 

If thematical it doesnt make sense, give the players a JaWi variant of a bee. 

I would love to use the little ghost skin for this!
