People who got 6, got 3 unlimited tools and 6 glyphs.
So 3 glyphs for their tools, and 3 for their homestead. 

People who bought it early have to either buy more glyphs only, or they have to remove from the tool, put in the box, gather in homestead, pull out of the box. 
And repeart 2 more times. 

So people who bought early have to spend a lot more effort every day. And others who didn't get to save time? That's my issue.

The problem is that people buying deluxe after the game is out gets 6 glyph select boxes and the people that pre-orderer the deluxe/ultimate only gets 3 glyphs in total.
It's totally unacceptable, you're basically getting punished for having faith in there product and ordering it in advance.

I was more getting at the point that not everyone reads every part of the forum everyday. Most players never look at all for most games.

Not everyone uses twitter, x, facebook,  etc..  If you want to tell people about something in a game,  use the games built in message system.  At least that's my opinion anyway.

you got exactly what anet said you would get. In fact, they added the glyphs after so if ordered early, you are already getting 3 more than you thought you were getting. thats why the turn in exists, and if you ordered later on, you are getting exactly what you thought you were paying for.

 

also, if you look at the wording of the post Anet posted about the turn in, its functioning exactly as they said it would

technically thats exactly how its functioning. It might not be what they intended, but it is what they posted would happen. they said two things would happen with the august 20th update:

1. people who buy the deluxe update from then on will get 3 glyph containers and the tools.

2. ALL players who have the tools can turn them in for 3 glyph containers. (note anet dont say players who owned they before 20th).

They never said these were mutually exclusive, or promised that people who bought the deluxe upgrade before the 20th would get 3 glyph containers  as per point 1 above.

is it intended? dont know. but the wording of the post is 100% in accordance with what happened.

Usually, it would be just a happy accident and people would get to keep a little extra. If it was something like Twitch drops or an in-game event. 

But people paid for this.  This isn't a happy accident for those who got lucky with a bug. It's a source of frustration and regret that leaves a bad aftertaste for those who paid earlier.  This isn't just like the experiment with the capuchin monkey doing the same but getting cucumber instead of grapes. They didn't do the same, they arguably did *more* by paying cash, and paying early. While those getting the deluxe later may have paid with coin rather than cash, and those buying it now may only be doing it because they are getting extra, "playing it safe".

I'm not sure how to interpret this. 

Has anyone actually tried to see what happens, as to me it sounds like everyone gets the tools, people that ordered before 20th can exchange to get tools + 3 boxes, and anyone after gets the tools + 3 boxes without an exchange needed.

Where are these supposed extra three boxes coming from? Can you actually exchange the tools on an account that got them after the 20th to get another set with 3 additional boxes?

If so, it may just be an asinine PR tactic.  Angering current playerbase is less offensive than angering new playerbase, is my guess.  Not really a bait and switch either because everyone still gets the tools--they just retain more new players by giving them an extra set of glyphs.

Like I said it's asinine, but not sure they have to do anything about it, sadly.

Well it does also set a bad precedent that will encourage fewer pre orders for the next expansion.

now it rests to see what they will do to those that exploited this bug to get double items, if they will take the way of forcefully removing items (which i doubt), giving pre-order folks 3 bonus glyphs (which i doubt) or just pretending nothing happened (which is what is prob gonna happen)

anyway, if the latter is chosen, it would be lame but people could still fight on it, idk

Given the lack of comments from staff and the fact that even a reddit thread on this was deleted and shut down within hours; they're taking the "pretend nothing happened" route.

Glad they fixed it.

Ultimately, those that pre ordered (Inc me) got either what they expected (if they pre ordered late) or got more than they expected if the pre ordered early before the black lion glyphs were announced (me).

I get that it is frustrating that some others who didn’t pre order and purchased in the last week got more glyphs out of this bug, but it’s fixed now and we still got what we wanted and a good deal IMO.

It is a choice to get upset about a small number of other players getting a bonus which doesn’t actually negatively affect us.

You can choose not to get upset about it and be happy about what you got instead.

That is a reasonable way to approach it when some people get something others got before. Like how they re-released the /sipcoffee emote.  It may have been exclusive for a while, but it's more fair if everyone has a chance at it. Complaining about more people getting to enjoy something would not make sense. Someone else getting the emote doesn't make one's emote any less emote-ish, everyone gets to have fun with it.

This is not the case. It isn't people complaining about others getting something, it's people complaining about themselves getting less after doing more. Not everyone is getting the same. 

Things should be fair.
