Capture the flag?

Casual pvp player here. Is there a reason a Capture the flag type game mode aka Warsong Gulch (WoW) was never implemented? Along those lines, do you believe ANet needs add a few more PVP game modes to help increase the PVP player base?

You mean the map that tries to fix new gamemode onto conquest? Its like adding tetris into FPS.

Same with courtyard before the match revamp. Good intention, but always tried to add on top of existing mechanic that resulted in angering both sides.

Capture the Flag doesn't really work well in MMORPGs. WSG is viewed positively largely because of nostalgia.

The problem with CtF in MMORPGs it that you either stick the flag carrier with special abilities while taking away their normal abilities, or you have super tanky or extremely mobile characters which can't be killed/caught. None of those options are fun. The end result is usually both teams holding the enemy flag at their base hoping that a their team can burst-kill the enemy flag carrier in a few seconds.

CTF would be great for GW2. The Spirit Watch flag mechanic is fine, the biggest issue is it is still a conquest map.

@Exedore.6320 WSG is still awesome, regardless of nostalgia and CtF works well on several WoW maps. It was also a great mechanic for GW1 PvP, even though it was a secondary mechanic there.
