Daddicus.6128
How is one supposed to craft illuminated boreal weapons when etrite ingots are required, and one cannot obtain the recipe for etrite ingots until one has crafted seven of the weapons? nottsgman.8206
don't the chests in the raven puzzles drop them?
Daddicus.6128
Perhaps, but that's no way to get the collection.
Danikat.8537
The ingots drop directly from a number of places, including the ancient boreal weapon collection, which precedes the illuminated weapon collection. You can see the full list of places they're available on the Wiki page: https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Eitrite_Ingot I suspect the idea is you get enough ingots from other places to start the process and then the recipe is a way of finishing the collection more quickly if you want the full set. 3
Daddicus.6128
I've been to that page. You said the ancient boreal collection comes before the illuminated. However, the Wiki doesn't mention that at all. What do you mean? (And, is restored boreal also part of this process?)

You open the red/blue/green chests (the one you need masteries for), get ingots, craft 7 weapons, which reaches 4th tier and then you have the recipe to continue crafting the set.

IIRC the recipe came much later after the ingots were already in game. You used to be limited to getting something like 15 per day(that might have been only the open world portion). The recipe just allows people to speed it up with gold if they want to.

You have to buy an Ancient Boreal weapon skin to unlock the recipe to craft the Restored Boreal version of the same weapon, and then use that weapon to craft the Illuminated Boreal version. Of course you could do one weapon at a time, for example buy the Ancient Boreal Axe skin, craft the Restored Boreal Axe and then the Illuminated Boreal Axe without getting any of the other Ancient skins, in which case you wouldn't get the ingots from the collection, but if you know you're going to want lots of them it's probably better to do one weapon set at a time.

From the Wiki (and as a Wiki editor, you should know how to navigate the Wiki): The recipe to craft an Illuminated Boreal weapon is unlocked by buying from Humble Stone for 1 https://wiki.guildwars2.com/images/d/d1/Gold_coin.png and 150 https://wiki.guildwars2.com/images/thumb/2/23/Eternal_Ice_Shard.png/20px-Eternal_Ice_Shard.png after obtaining the corresponding Restored Boreal weapon skin. The recipe to craft a Restored Boreal weapon is unlocked by buying from Anette Eymundrdottir for 2 https://wiki.guildwars2.com/images/d/d1/Gold_coin.png and 100 https://wiki.guildwars2.com/images/thumb/2/23/Eternal_Ice_Shard.png/20px-Eternal_Ice_Shard.png after obtaining the corresponding Ancient Boreal weapon skin (can be bought for 2 https://wiki.guildwars2.com/images/d/d1/Gold_coin.png and 75 https://wiki.guildwars2.com/images/thumb/2/23/Eternal_Ice_Shard.png/20px-Eternal_Ice_Shard.png). https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Ancient_Boreal_weapon_skins Also, if you have been to the Eitrite Ingot page, you saw all the places one can obtain them (with links to each place). 1
Sobx.1758
btw, the restored boreal weapons are tradeable, so you can buy them off TP. Crafting cost: 3g76s +2 gold for the recipe (per weapon, right?) => 5g76 TP sell price: 5,77 -6,17 (buy price is like 1 gold lower, but I don't know if people are currently selling, might be worth trying if you're not in a hurry) So depending on the weapon, it might be easier to just instantly buy from tp or even try putting a buy offer to get it cheaper than the price of craft+recipe if you're not in a hurry for that collection.
Daddicus.6128
OK, I think I see now. You have to drill down through the wiki pages to figure it out. Knowing the ancient --> restored --> illuminated is the key. Thank you, folks!

I've been trying to remember how I even know that (I haven't done these collections yet) and all I can come up with is "I saw something about it somewhere sometime around the release". No idea if it was in an announcement, in game, on the forum or some combination of all of them, it's just a piece of largely useless (to me) info that got stuck in my head. If you can think of a way to make the Wiki pages clearer I'm sure that would be helpful to a lot of people.
Inculpatus cedo.9234
I think the Wiki is pretty clear, as posted above.
Crystal Paladin.3871
What is the main thing u want? Achievements or weapon collections? U can't know about weapon collections unless u look at the achievs listing for that content first... Or u read an article about that weapon collection or someone mentioned it in guild/map chat... So your next step is to search for that weapon collection in Wiki... Every weapon in the collection mentions a recipe in the very beginning of the page... Then you know what you need and where / which NPC to get it from

Ummmm.... I think the OP's main concern in this thread is the recipe for eitrite ingots... He asks the readers that the recipe itself is obtained from achie after crafting 7 weapons and how he supposed to do that to complete the illuminated boreal weapon collection if the recipe itself is locked behind that collection.... So I mentioned that the items required to craft such weapons can be acquired from various sources and to know those source, Wiki explains a step by step approach... Either it is by listing event meta which drops those items(eitrite) or by buying the mats from somewhere like black lion(though I doubt this bl bjora March bag is available now) or strike mission vendor,....
