Why do raids get all of the new skins while PvP and WvW get nothing?

PvP and WvW just get reskinned garbage maybe once every 2 years

I don't understand why the only way to get the new skins Anet makes is by playing raids and doing PvE

If these rewards were locked behind PvP/WvW and PvErs had no chance of getting them unless they performed at the highest levels of those gamemodes, soooo many people would have a problem with it...

Anet can you add a way to acquire all of these skins in every gamemode? It's not fair to lock everything behind a single one and neglect the other 2/3s of your game

Check the dungeon reward tracks, they were added to allow PVE players to get the dungeon skins without effort, since PVP players already had access to those skins, they only required higher ranks to acquire (good for PVP players). Bad PVE players who couldn't run the dungeons went to the "competitive" modes to farm the skins. Joy!Honestly I don't think you'd want them to add more of those skins in PvP/WvW, the modes are already infested by terrible players who go there to get the rewards for free, because PVE iz too hard for them. And not only talking about Raids. Now if they found a way to actually give the rewards to those performing at the highest levels, then I'd agree with you and they should add all the prestigious rewards there too. But that's hard especially in WvW, how do you identify a WvW player that performs at the highest level?

IMO, it's because:

  • A lot more people play PvE than PvP (apparently it's 90% of people play a lot of PvE vs 40% play a lot of PvP & WvW), so it makes sense to add more rewards to what will reach more players.
  • In the opposite direction, ArenaNet really wants to push people to raid, hence the legendary armors and now the legendary ring requiring raiding.

PvP appears to be in the uncomfortable position of not being the most played game mode right, nor the game mode ArenaNet wants to push the most.

WvW has exclusive skins. You can upgrade ascended gear to legendary with skirmish tickets, that's enough. The second tier of ascended have a high rank requirement.

PvP
players didn't want to do dungeons, and the old option was no longer available after wardrobe introduction. Also, tracks gave PvP players access to tokens for legendary gifts, which was also something those players wanted.

That some PvE players decided they'd rather get those skins the PvP way was a much later development.

Basically, raids get the shinies simply because it's a content favoured by Anet. Or, at the very least, a content Anet's heavily promoting now.

In addition to said legendary gear with its own exclusive look.

Yeah because "PVP Players" go to farm on custom arena farm maps /sarcasm.Don't be delusional, pvp players play the game for pvp, not to farm tokens. The vast majority (if not everyone judging by their pvp rank) in the pvp custom arenas were/are pve players who don't want to play the pve content, or find it too hard for them. The old option for dungeon skins remained in the game for a while, requiring a high enough rank and some gold to get the dungeon skins. But then they figured nobody would pay gold and wait until they rank up enough to buy the dungeon skins, because it's much easier to farm them. They could always make the dungeon skins vendor items that require a high rank, like the old system, if it was a PVP player reward. Instead of making farmable items that those who are trash in PVE can go earn the rewards by afking in PVP.

Premium Pve skins (raid or donjon) are locks behind parties, donjon was bad but doable, but raid requirements are a pain. Most people don't have unlimited play time and can't afford to spend nights after nights in raid lobby waiting for a nice party accepting newb with low LI or no KP for the boss needed for their collection progress.Premium pvp and Wvw skins are only timegated, when you are good you have shortcuts, you are bad or not dedicated it just take a lot of time but you still have a small progress each time you play the content.
In Wvw a player is only one of the other people in blob so bad players impact is limited.PVP has its tiers system so again bad player impact is limited.Raid party "open to all" often can't carry one or 2 bad players and therefore progress is blocked for all the party.A quest Aurora like with maybe one or 2 items raid related might be ok for most players and would have limited the impact on raid and "help me for my collection" runs would have been possible like mesmers are helping for jumping puzzle or escort runs are done to unlock spirit shard but when pve content means raid only then yes people who don't want to raid but want the swapable stat armor for their rerolls for their other activities (fractales for example) are moving to pvp and wvw to have it.
