Are there any plans to add new weapons? Would be nice to see some new skills and weapons around instead of waiting to see :

Guardian next weapon : riffle! ( Please don't )

In my opinion makes more sense to add new weapons to the game giving new specialisations, instead of giving all the existing ones to all the classes. I say this because some of them seem to be forced to happen instead of giving a reason for it to fit a new specialisation . ( Guardian with a riffle / gun is only an example that I gave for this because it does not fit the class lore at all ) !

:)

Battle axe ( two handed axe )

Short spears ( land : melee / ranged / magic)

Spears ( land : melee / magic )

Tridents ( land - melee / ranged / magic )

Wands ( magic / ranged )

Magic orbs ( magic ranged / close )

Poleaxe ( melee )

Polearm ( melee )

Crossbow ( ranged )

Fist weapons ( melee / magic )

Book spells ( magic / ranged )

This game is getting to closed into the the weapon type. Can we have more variety ?

What I post above is just an idea, many reasons can be lore wise to say what should be magic or melee so... Give your reason :) I just want to have more builds with new weapons!

Would be really nice to see new arsenal on this game, and I believe this weapons are all lore friendly :)

Spears, polearms, battle axes and crossbows are the weapon types that make the most sense, at least to me. We already have two handed greatswords and hammers, so it would be nice to have a two handed axe. Ground combat with spears or polearms is something that players have been speculating of being implemented ever since ArenaNet made that Lunar New Year loading screen. I see no point in adding in wands because scepters already exist and as for crossbows, I think this would be a great weapon idea for the engineer.

I have yet to get an actual answer.

Well, maybe players have a point in asking this. It is certain that this will take plenty time and some resources. But pretty much sure it would be a good investment!

Is kinda a reminder :P

Short spear = javalinNo :D short spear and javelins are completely different things, javelins do not have a blade on the head, a javelin is a worked "pole" with a pointed end .

Google it ! :) Is what ppl use on olimpics to throwing at distance :)

Ah, yes... "because I want it". Standard response. Still doesn't answer the question, though.

Let's assume they do add these weapons and, as many people point out, they're functionally identical to existing weapons. What have they added? How has gameplay expanded? This isn't a looter-shooter; they can't just adjust the timing slightly and say it's a different gun. This isn't a fighting game, where they can tweak one or two moves (or just swap the color palate) and say it's a new character. This is an MMO, and more importantly, this is Guild Wars 2. Styles matter, choices matter, weapon selection matters.

But then, "just add them as skins" isn't good enough either, is it?

I kinda agree. But land Spear however is something that this game imo is lacking. There isnt any weapon that Works like one, melee staff is totally different. Spears are ingame already anyways. I could see atleast few classes use one. IMO 2h Spear would suit atleast ranger, Guardian and necromancer. For ranger elite specs that could be 2 handed melee condition weapon with venom utility skills. For guardian.. well Paragon, nothing more to say. And for necromancer, this can sound weird and stupid, but perhaps finally a high SINGLE target pdps weapon with precise attacks to critical parts of human body. Anyways lets not talk about my elite spec ideas but Spear instead. Melee staff is nice but it lacks some things that are unique for Spears, you cant cut or stab with one for example.

1° : This thing : " because I want it " I don t see it in any place of my arguments. If that is what you interpretated then is your ability to comprehend and it's a personal problem of yours. Don't put words from other mouths.

2° : land spears and tridents could be land used, even crossbows could be added and many others weapons we could imagin, a few number to share to different classes and for new build templates :) .

Besides, they are lore friendly I believe and would be nice to have some new weapons instead of reading one day :

  • guardian new weapon - riffle!

All I want to say is , in my opinion, adding new weapons would be better then to cycle the existing ones , because some would probably sound wierd on specific classes right?

Besides, I believe it would not arm anything by adding them to the game, knowing that spears and tridents are already on game.Animations for specific races and all would certainly take their time, I'm pretty sure of that . But it would be rewarding in the end.Balancing new weapons skills is has hard as balancing the existing ones to the game.

:) Is my opinion anyway, many agreed other's don't all coins have 2 sides, I just argue as I fit just to defend in what I believe and perspectives.

You still seem to be missing Trise's point: Besides looking different and having different animations, how is a 2-handed axe different than hammer or greatsword? What role does it play? If power, how is it different than what we already have? Otherwise, just do like the scythe and add a skin.

You think that rifle sounds weird for a guardian, but who saw longbow coming? Give Anet some freedom to work out a new elite. How 'bout rifle-wielding-Lawman?
