  1. You are right on the fact that the AI is not really perfect. But imagine now when the fixes/improvements are done. You have pets vs one mech, which apparently uses same AI. That would be my point 🙂 P.S If the Mechanist wont get more mechs, I actualy havent thought about that, but it could be a waste for just one elite spec 🤔
  2. I see we both want more variation but in a different form, which I guess is the beauty of it. Thing what I like about a quantity of pets, as we see now, that it brings fruits in Untamed when we can actualy use their skills in prof. tab. If we count all skills that they have, it is alot and even when many of them would suck in practical combat, they can be always improved upon, and the spec grows. Its just an example of that devs can work on existing things and try to improve it, so there is always a potential in the proffesion. When you look at the Mechanist from the design perspective, the mech is surely highly customizable and can occupy any role, BUT the design=trait line. You have variation in that one mech, not your character as a whole. But I guess we will really see when people play for longer periods of time 😉
  3. No need to get unhappy I would think.😉 Mechanist is focused solely just on that one "pet". Well see during and after the beta, but right now it seems Mechanist will get boring soon - imagine traveling with that hunk for hours. On the other hand Untamed has much more room for the devs to improve it. If we look at the traits, it will get much easier to change them. If they wanted to make Mechanist more fun, they would literally need to redo whole spec, which most likely wont happen.
  4. I really like the way how this spec is being approached, it seems way more fun than Mechanist in long term. There are some things which I believe need to be looked into during and after the beta though. The Unleashed F5 skill seems kinda underwhelming at this stage, at least on variety/fun factor. It gives "just" 3 new pet skills and changes 4 hammer skills. If not counting offense/defense mechanic, thats just it. I believe things can be added without making the spec a powercreep as was mentioned in the preview. I would have 2 suggestions for that. Make the Unleashed pet F3 skill different based on the pet family. Each could give a different combo field. There are 9 fields and 9 central Tyria pet familes. HoT, PoF and EoD pets could get one of those. For instance the Poison in the preview could go to spiders, Dark for devourers, Smoke for cats etc. Change one or two skills from each other weapon while Unleashed is on you. For example: Greatsword: Maul - Instead of Vulnerability, it deals Weakness for soft CC Longbow: Long Range Shot - Becomes Short Range Shot, deals more damage the closer the target Short Bow: Quick Shot - Instead of Swiftness, gain Vigor. Sword: Monarch's Leap - Instead of dealing Cripple, gain Might or Stability Axe: Splitblade - Becomes a melee cleave attack that bleeds. Path of Scars - instead of Pull deal Launch. Dagger: Crippling Talon - Changes into Talon Flurry, throw more daggers at once for a mid range aoe damage that bleeds, but doesnt cripple. Torch: Throw Torch and Bonfire - Deal Poison attacks instead of burning due to primal power. Warhorn: Hunter's Call - Instead of Vulnerability, hawks attack for aoe damage. No radical changes to the skills so the Untamed wasnt OP, but I believe it would give a bit more potency for the theme while having more variations for switching Unleashed between player and a pet. Another thing that lacks is the minor trait Natural Fortitude that gives 240 Vitality. It is just written in the stars that it is a boring trait (most new elite specs have an issue with minor traits btw). I believe, in the spirit of giving Ranger more of a warrior status, it can be done in another way. Thing that comes into mind right now is the similar effect that Utility items have. I think best would be to Gain Vitality equal to % of your Toughness. It could incentivize players to try more gear with Tougness stats in lets say another equipment tab. What else do you think could be done better in a practical way? Thx for reading 😉
  5. I really like the idea of this elite spec, but isnt the mech just too big? I feel lke it may get tiresome for a longer periods of playtime to drag it around. Thing what I find fun about Ranger is that u can choose different pet depending on your preference/build/mood. The mech will need to have alot to offer to keep people engaged.
  6. I just really hope that when the pet gets enchanted it gets different skills based on the pet family. If it will be just a one set of blow(s), not to mention in the combination of charging the skill like Catalyst has, that would be a huge letdown.
  7. You have a bit of Necromancer, basicaly a Spectre, add some Firepower, which would make kinda a shadow priest...all in all you have basically a Judas Priest spec 🤘
  8. For Ranger we could get a ranged version of a Spellbreaker, with pet being kind of a bulwark (as distinction from both Catalyst and Spellbreaker ). While it would seem promising for WvW, I dont like the idea of a ranged hammer. Why hammer then at all? 🙄 We need something more "punchy" for pve roaming while exploring Cantha. Second concern I have is with the weapon skills. They need to feel different from greatsword and at the same time not bearing the main ingredient for the elite spec efectiveness (like Catalyst has with the hammer #3 skills), since we would like to try all other weapons with the spec.
  9. I would have a suggestion. 1. Remove hammers #3 skills - projectiles and replace them with some different ones, some finishers would do good for a bruiser type. 2. Add the similar effects of those #3 skills to each of the corresponding Augments, they would evoke those effects in the actual orbs in the Jade Sphere, when u trigger the Augments inside them with the corresponding element. Augmented orbs could stay for some time when u change attunements. I think it would actually feel more like a Catalyst and players would not need to be fixed on just a hammer.
  10. There are 2 things with Catalyst that I believe should be looked into: 1. Jade Sphere burns away too fast, even for a bruiser. It should be either more powerful or stay on much longer. 2. Hammer skills #3 are bound to the hammer. They seem interesting for broader combat, but its just too limiting having those on just one weapon.
  11. Hello, I enjoyed most of the things with Bladesworn, but mainly one trait is on my mind right now: Dragonscale Defense-"If you are struck while in Dragon Trigger, gain protection.". Problem I see with this trait is that it is a Minor Trait that is bound to the spec skill. You can´t choose it, so you basically always get a protection while in Dragon Trigger, so it would make more sense if the protection was part of the Dragon Trigger and the trait was something different or tweaked. For instance you could get protection by not moving. It would work for both spec skill and other things, like standing still with torment on for example.
  12. Ur right, all those adept traits are such a hassle. They want to make the spec an assassin "selfish" type, which might be fine on some level, but I cant think of a good combination with other trait lines. Maybe trying to go heavy on boons, but that sketchy so far 🤔
  13. Will-bend personal space 🙂 I would like to know how main guard players feel about the traits though. Speed, trade offs and virtues effectiveness, there doesnt seem to be much fun in it for making a build, but I know its subjective...
  14. Hi, I speculate that ranger could learn the ways of Wardens from Echovald, its very specific, but it would fit nicely. That could mean some spirit merging, when both you and your pet get a new set of skills that complement each other. In that state you could use your bare hands as a "heavy type" profession. As for the weapon, I incline more towards a focus, which could also be the icon. Focus could work with the spirit theme. I am not much of a fan of hammers or shields, so I guess thats also a wish 🙂
  15. What is going on with that reduction in power/condi dmg while merged with ferocious/deadly pet? I though that was the main point of merging with those pets, to get more dmg as part of the spec mechanic while sacrificing the controled pet. The numbers are supposed to be lower in comparison with what?
  16. Thats one of the reasons Ive been always thinking that those huge balance patches focused on competitive modes should had rather been focused on pve instead. One thing is that pve is just bigger part of the game, so it would make more sense if it was a main template for skills and then go from there and just trim pvp. My opinion is that when pvper just posts something, its hard to discern if its a feedback or a dull complain, so it must be a mess making a ballance based on that. And those who play pvp just for dailies wont apprise the big changes there anyway. Maybe if there was more of the Stronghold or some new pvp mode?Second thing is that those skill changes also affect pve, but negatively. Like that phiosophy of trade offs. Its mostly limiting in pve, since you dont need to be balanced there to fight another player. You need more variety .)
  17. No ty, I dont want to be like some of those eso players who fight against GW2, its weird and doesnt make sense ;)
  18. True, it depends what their concept will be. Still the zones could be a bit more layered for more space. PoF zones are big, but they have specific parts made for mounts, like ledges, water, gaps etc. So its in that design, not the size alone. Living world maps are all smaller, and they were made for mounts too ;)
  19. I really like how they made Draconis Mons and Siren's Landing. They are not huge zones but have a good variety and are fun for traversal. So maybe make more of those similar smaller zones next to each other, but more of them, like 7, each with its own theme. Nice would be if each would have their own HoT type big event, which would also connect nicely to the story. With lesser routes for meta though, like 2 for each map so its not messy all over. Just so it is compact and varied. :)
  20. You need to compare it with other professions. It seems to me you just want warrior to be overperforming. See you in eso...except not.
  21. I dont think the case is that they dont like the content. Everyone liked and enjoyed Dulfy guides. I remember getting my skyscale with them :) The case may be that GW team has just been overhauled. The community is going nowhere though ;)
  22. I had a love for Lineage II in the past for its world alone, I still feel nostalgic about it :3 But there was a point I coudnt continue playing through the grind. When I compared its gaming elements with those of GW2, I was amazed at the innovation. GW2 has been first (and last) mmo Ive played that really feels like a journey. Its a beautiful game :)I still need to try GW1 when I have a time .)
