  1. Just chiming in to say that on my previous comp I was running (gaming laptop, only ~3-4 years old at that point) my game looked like this when the forced dx11 switch happened. Nothing I did fixed it, and it gave me royal headaches playing the game longer than 10 minutes. The only thing that fixed it was buying a whole new desktop, which says a lot. I saw many threads pop up with people saying they were having the same issue around that time (it was earlier in the year iirc? my memory isn't great) and afaik no one found a solution to it. 🤷‍♂️
  2. Oh is it only a defiance buff? I must've misread it during the fractal (to be fair, I was desperately trying to dodge attacks and not die lmao)
  3. Was this taking into account the damage reduction buff he gains when you break his defiance bar while he's winding up for his big attack? The group of friends I was doing the fract with stopped breaking his bar once we noticed he gained it, but the trade-off is he has more adds to do the annoying eye mechanic with, so we just decided to power through the defense buff because it was the less annoying of the two options.
  4. If I'm leveling or doing a core build, I find the kits fun (grenade and mortar are my faves to use) but otherwise, I don't like being forced to use kits for rotation in elite specs (personal preference, ofc).
  5. Oh, does Firefox also hog memory? That's a bit disappointing to hear, I thought that was only a Chrome issue. 😕
  6. I'm not even going to get into the rest of the patch notes, I don't have the energy for it. The one thing I have to ask is: why the HELL do you think nerfing Deadeye range is a good idea? Not only does it completely decimates the uniqueness of a class that's supposed to be a sniper, but also LB ranger can still shoot halfway across the world? What did Deadeye ever do to you? Unrelated but still in the realm of balance: it sucks that any and all support / heal classes need to bring alac to be remotely useful to group comp. Maybe y'all should look at how much of a crutch alac has become and give all supports the ability to boon it, or buff non-alac supports so they're good even without bringing alac to the table.
  7. Oh, no, I quoted because of the "come up with most of these answer is yourself, you're going to know your character, their nuances and motivations better" part of your post to build onto it! Sorry if it seemed like I was responding to your directly, I could've quote-grabbed your post without the ping attached but it didn't even occur to me.
  8. And on the flip-side of this, if you don't want your character involved at all with this? Ignore it! Your commander doesn't have to be linked to Thorn at all -- maybe the Emissary title is something that is simply given around Halloween to play along / fit the theme/spirit of the holiday. Who knows! The world is your oyster. Taking everything about the game as literal to your character as possible is grounds for a migraine.
  9. If it's only tier 1s like Freya said, that's easy enough with one or two friends who are at least exotic-geared and know what they're doing in the fracts / with their classes. It'll take you a bit longer than with a full 5 group, but you won't have to run with a PUG in that case.
  10. Aaah, yeah, the effect does look really cool. From my experience with both (and fire in general in this game being a nightmare to dye to look good), I generally prefer the Phoenix in that regard; some of the Tigris' flame dye channels also tie in with the body color, which might make it funky, unless that's not something you're terribly worried about. Otherwise, out of the two, the Phoenix definitely has the better fire trail effect, for sure.
  11. If you're not a fan of effects while flying (the phoenix leaves a medium-heavy particle trail), then I'd go for the Tigris pack! I'm a fan of both griffon skins, but the Tigris are cute because they have custom idles (and you get 3 for the price of one, if it's the pack I'm remembering).
  12. Yes, I saw!! I was finally able to log on a minute ago after being busy all morning and I can confirm that all of the mounts that had the issue are now fixed! They show the proper default model instead of just hanging invisible in space until the skin actually loads in. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU @Double Tapfor finally getting this issue looked at!! 💙💙💙
  13. As far as I'm aware (from what I've seen others post of it), it doesn't recharge while you're offline, only while you're logged in (and potentially only when you're on a character? Not 100% certain, someone else will most likely yes/no the truth to that since I don't own it myself). edit; unless you're saying that you've been playing many hours during those weeks + yesterday + today and it still hasn't recharged -- if that's the case, I have no clue why it's not recharging, that would most definitely be a bug you should send a report in for.
  14. Snow Leopard being below the others in terms of power or notability doesn't mean much to people who (usually) respect all of the Spirits in a relative equal regard. "Snow Leopard was one of the Spirits of the Wild who aided the norn in their exodus to the south.[7] It is said that she was one of the four Spirits—along with Bear, Raven, and Wolf—who revealed themselves to the norn hero Asgeir Dragonrender over the field of battle after Jormag had devoured Owl and instructed him to lead the surviving norn south to a sanctuary while Ox, Eagle and Wolverine stayed behind to distract and battle the Ice Dragon." "Thanks to her actions, Snow Leopard became one of the four most highly regarded Spirits of the Wild and had the Snow Leopard Lodge built in her honor in Hoelbrak." She also did a lot to help the norn during Jormag's assault, it would feel weird to cast her aside afterwards. (I certainly can't say that Anet has handled how they write norn... very stellar, considering how IBS got all of its norn content shucked to the side in lieu of the Charr civil war. It definitely would've been nice to have more lore on the Spirits as a whole, considering there's really not much aside from what we have for the Big Four.)
  15. As far as I'm aware, Bear was the only *big* spirit that the Norn had before the exodus caused by Jormag -- the other three (Wolf / Snow Leopard / Raven) were elevated to higher status when the Norn re-settled in the lower Shiverpeaks.
  16. You could also look at https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/New_Kaineng_City for the interactive map (if that not the current one you're looking at, that is!) in my past experience with map completion, the interactive maps are far more intuitive to finding lost things than any static map because you can mouse over and compare POIs you have already.
  17. If you could get me screenshots of your map, I could cross-reference mine to try and help, since I have the map completed! That's the only real way I can think of helping find what one you're missing, unfortunately.
  18. Have you explored the islands outside of the city wall, over near the portal to Seitung? There's a HP over there, but it might be easy to miss the PoI (if it's not one over in Old Kaineng) that you're missing. edit; there's also the naga islands north of the Seitung portal that have a POI on them.
  19. It's always ever a 50/50 on if people attempt the Blackout whenever I'm in Kaineng. It's not the most popular meta, but it's not completely dead (usually).
  20. Oh, can skill 5 not cheese some of the Chalice jumps? That's unfortunate. 😕 I've done it a few times now, so at least I can reliably complete it, it just takes an hour lmao No, I mean the whole JP area -- it genuinely caused me more anger than Chalice did. I brought a DD after I completed the actual JP to skill 5 cheese my way up to the goggles.
  21. I loathe the idea of ever touching Chalice of Tears ever again (aptly named) but I probably will for future legendaries I want to make. If I ever need to do it again, I'm bringing a daredevil. I haven't even attempted the DM one, but that genuinely looks more like a spider-man puzzle rather than a jumping one because it requires the oakheart essence and is built around it. Otherwise? I don't particularly mind the JPs... except the Aetherblade one in Gendarran. That one I never want to see ever again.
  22. It'd be fitting if the pumpkin laughed every time you managed to lose a fish. Seems like something Thorn would definitely mock you about (though, depending on how good you are/how high your stacks are, that'd be few and far between).
  23. You can namedrop World of Warcraft, it's okay. On a more serious note, test servers/realms are hit-or-miss, depending entirely on how they're handled, and how the feedback given is considered. As much as I would love them to have things pre-tested so bugs/balancing can get ironed out before it goes into the live game, that actually requires them to take that feedback into consideration and deem it worthy to actually fix by whatever margin of people tested it vs. the overall game population. 😕
  24. Yeah -- the funny thing is, I can (usually) run through large-group content with okay FPS and very few drops in that, but actually loading into a map can either be nigh-instantaneously, or take a full minute with no real indication why (it does this on low and high pop maps equally, but especially on EoD maps). I definitely don't trust gaming laptop companies anymore after the troubles I've had (my first one died not even a week after my store-bought warranty ran out because of course it did lmao); I'm glad your wife likes hers and doesn't have any issues! Laptops are nice for me when I want to get some writing done while not at my desk, but for much else, I just can't stand 'em anymore.
