  1. I had fun. I didn’t expect to enjoy it as much as I did but I had a great time and I got my warclaw. Thanks to everyone.
  2. Right- but since I was both representing book and had book selected… then I should have been representing book in wvw and grouped with book guildies. I’m happy with how it worked out, but it seems like this was still a bug.
  3. I had a great time playing tonight with guild LGBT. Thanks to them for letting me play! the confusing part is that I had selected guild BOOK. I have never previously played wvw with either guild and have only played PvE missions with BOOK. So I was theoretically placed on the wrong team, but had a great time.
  4. I don’t know how to answer these questions. i had guild book checked, but guild lgbt highlighted. Guild book had been checked for weeks. I clicked “accept”. I was on the blue team. But I noticed when I spawned an air elemental it was labelled lgbt not book. And I was playing with my lgbt guildies. is there a way for people to switch their choice or for people to be representing the same guild but be in different teams? while I was blue, I was on the same team with guild bae. Later in the same match I was attacked by someone in guild bae. Did they switch? Or is this a bug or feature in how it’s labelled? im normally on Borlis pass
  5. I haven’t asked— and it actually would be fun to play with them. I don’t know them WELL either but we do hang out during guild missions most weeks and chat some of the time. So it would be fun. But you’re probably right if they play wvw seriously they likely have a wvw guild…
  6. Great. So I could, in theory, play WvW with my PvE guild. We never have. They’re on a different server, that’s full. That’s slightly disappointing— I’ve played with people from my server (to be fair mostly a long time ago) and enjoyed the team chat there even if I don’t really know anyone. Feel at least some server loyalty. But since wvw hasn’t been my main thing, my feelings on this aren’t as strong as someone who plays often, clearly. Have fun with the restructuring everyone, and see you around as the teams are mixed up every 8 weeks, sometime.
  7. Hi— I play wvw super super super casually. The first couple of years I played I played wvw maybe once a week, very badly. After that it dropped to a couple of times a year. I still like wvw but honestly can’t, for various reasons, play it very intensely and am not looking to do so. I’d like to continue to dabble a couple of times a month to a couple of times a year. feedback I’m getting on Facebook suggests that roaming and following a tag is definitely the way to go right now. I agree. I don’t really have a wvw guild and don’t need one right now. i didn’t play the beta because I heard it was for serious wvw players but I have a question for those who did. How does a casual player like me, who doesn’t want to commit to wvw missions or regular scheduled play, participate in wvw under restructuring? Do I choose my PvE guild that doesn’t play wvw? Do I select no guild? I’m kind of confused. Will I still be able to see the tags? Or is this style of play dead? thanks
  8. To be totally honest, I buy my fashion with real money. I even buy gold this way sometimes. I bought absolutely zero from the gem store my first three years, by any means. Presumably GW2 is aware some people do this and presumably it’s lucrative for them. I do see peer pressure to stop wearing fashion I bought, and even fashion I got in drops or BL chests with keys I earned by leveling characters, because I’m not elite and am kind of a casual. I keep wearing it. I even keep buying more. Why? For one thing, it would be a shame to have invested in looking great and not use it. For another thing, I think it really adds to the look, feel, and even content of the world to have people wearing the fashions they themselves have put together using a combination of what they bought and what they earned. I really love looking at everyone’s fashion. I even wonder if some of it has driven plot developments. Keep looking awesome!
  9. Hey I just took a second look. That sheathing and unsheathing flash is brighter and more sudden than I remembered. It’s absolutely stunning, but I can see why you’d say it might cause seizures. I’m sorry. I don’t know how it will effect me or others. Or those with migraines. It’s bright (and beautiful). Ideally sheathing and unsheathing shouldn’t occur over and over again in a pattern but should only be one flash at a time. That’s not too bad for me but I’m not sure about other people.
  10. This thread is about graphics. It has a seizure warning. That’s a fact. In my opinion I’d recommend GW2 to someone with seizures over other MMORPGS and probably over rock concerts and some TV or movies as well. That was my whole point. Perhaps I phrased it badly. In a world where people do choose to have entertainment and lead an interesting life rather than sitting in isolation and doing nothing, I think GW2 is a RELATIVELY safe choice. I take no serious issue with the status quo where it has a seizure warning. But I don’t think it needs a stronger warning either. And I don’t think the graphics are by and large a danger. MKe your anti glow arguments on some other basis.
  11. sorry didn’t mean to make this post. New to forum and not sure how to use it. I was trying to add quotes to a previous post but failed twice
  12. It already has one, and that doesn’t concern me because it is not a problem for me. In the context where the original concern was brought up, I believe someone was claiming that gamma or glow worsens seizures. I do not believe so. I believe it is specifically rhythmic, strobing or flickering lights. I don’t think there’s any need to eliminate gamma, glow, or contrast on behalf of people who have seizures. Make your argument on some other basis please.
  13. I have about one seizure a week and sometimes multiple a day. GW2 rarely triggers one. Maybe 2-3 times this year and less than 10 times (5 times?) ever in my 6 years of playing. I have PNES seizures rather than epilepsy for someone trying to debug this, with many physical triggers and some less physical triggers including strobing lights, cold, sleep deprivation, exercise, as well as stress. They are not a medication reaction (nor lack of medication). I’m treated by meds that are also used for seizures, though they have dual uses for other issues I have (including for migraines, anxiety, and allergies). They obviously don’t work well anymore, though they did between 2011 and 2015. My first three months of seizures was worse than now. I’m told that unlike epilepsy, I’m safe and the seizures don’t do damage The glow is great! It doesn’t need fixing for my benefit. Strobing lights are not wonderful but I’m fine. I’ll avoid them. edited due to random theorizing
  14. Restating: TV and shows in theaters are more of a problem for me than GW2 (which is almost entirely not a problem). I watch tv and go to shows in theaters.
  15. I enjoy the chiller aspects of hanging out in the environment of the game and being immersed in the world. I think it will be fun to fish from a boat, solo or with friends, some of the time. As in the real world, most people don’t fish every day all day. i agree I play solo far more often than not.
  16. I reread this. I truly appreciate the intentions but I don’t think granularity is the issue for me. It’s just the rate at which the flashes occur. It doesn’t matter whether the graphics resolution is just a single white block filling the screen or photographic realism. It has to do with the rate at which it flickers.
  17. Reposted from the discussion on “has ANET let people with disabilities down” because I want to be sure this discussion is attached to the right post: I also just want to make it 100% clear that as far as I am concerned, it is easier to see what is going on when there is greater contrast and brightness, and at least some glow. I feel like the greater gamma trend has made it easier to follow gameplay, for me. I have also invested quite a lot in fashion wars and love the look. I would be really really really disappointed to see this eliminated from both a utilitarian and an aesthetic point of view, for me specifically, or in general. I am safe, as things stand, and it is not essential to fix the problem I mentioned. I am fine and can avoid it. thanks
  18. I am super sympathetic to those of you who have greater limitations. Let me start there. I don’t play WvW because I can’t handle the stress. Stress can trigger seizures as well for me. I also just want to make it 100% clear that as far as I am concerned, it is easier to see what is going on when there is greater contrast and brightness, and at least some glow. I feel like the greater gamma trend has made it easier to follow gameplay, for me. I have also invested quite a lot in fashion wars and love the look. 19. Hoping I didn’t just ask for a mud brown game with indistinguishable characters and actions… I actually do like visually interesting and distinct effects. I find them very helpful in addition to very beautiful. And beauty is an end in itself Edit: I know I made a post on another thread reporting a problem I was having with specific RHYTHMIC flashing (strobing)lights in Dragons stand during the beta that appeared to be bombs set off by a PC or NPC and also the Thunderhead Peaks meta which has lightning. I’ve been trying to explain on that thread that gamma and glow are not problems for me and neither is contrast and I don’t need lower graphics settings and in fact lower graphics settings haven’t even helped in other video games where I had the same problem. GW2 is generally very safe for me and I may just be able to avoid the issue. It’s come up a few times in six years of play. This is the ONLY context where I’ve had a significant problem in GW2 and I CAN avoid it.
  20. My graphics seem to now be set to a low setting and I’m not sure how to fix it. I’m really grateful for the efforts of ANET but I don’t need the resolution or gamma turned down. Bright lights are not a problem for me and neither is glow. I like them. It’s repeated flashes of light in a rhythmic manner that are a problem. When I tried turning down the graphics settings on FF14 and TESO and they had this problem it didn’t make any difference. Fortunately the problem isn’t widespread in GW2.
  21. End of Dragons is magical and perfect (and people need to shut up about yelling at ANET seriously they’re human beings and put a lot into this)
  22. To clarify, none of the listed problems have in general been an issue for me prior to this beta. In particular I love ley line anomalies and seek them out. I do not have epilepsy. I have psychogenic non epileptic seizures, which are treated by a neurologist and seizure meds with some success, and have physical triggers. i assume you can’t speak for all people with epilepsy. But the patterns that bother me may not even be the exact same patterns that bother the typical person with epilepsy. The time scale of my seizures is different (last an hour, 1 min convulsions at end). I have some memories. Possibly the timescale or nature of the flashes that bother me is also different.
  23. Tried both fighting as a dagger warhorn tempest and as a catalyst again. It’s going much better. Maybe they fixed it or maybe the suggestions helped me improve. Thanks so much!
