  1. Hello,Not an expert but I'be level up mine less than a month. And made this build the time I get reaper/scourge (I even keep it a long time testing condi reap/scourge).It was very easy to solo everything. Pet tank almost everything, take condition at your place and put it back on ennemy. You've almost always Protection, 20+Might, 15+ Vulnerability and lot of heal from parasitic contagion. I find fun to do damage with the fear too ; you got 3 of them, 3 of shroud, spectral circle for a very long one (don't work one break bar, dunno if it' s abug or not cuz other fear work..) and the last from the staff 5.Also feared target take 33% more dmg. "Blood is power" is a very strong bleed who work well with the build but I don't like self condi, even if I can remove them. And I wanna stick with the fear trait, personal choice, change if u want. I maximise bleed uptime since most of you damage come from this (we're at 100% more uptime). That what I used, probably not the optimal build, but it allow me to faceroll most HoT & PoF champ (even some bounty).and for HP, If I died sometime it's mostly because I didn't pay enough attention. That said, be warned, easy build like this are fun at the start, but atm I feel really bored cuz I feel carried by the build and in other side I'm so used to be tank that I've trouble playing other class. Power necro is fun to, I play it these day, even in core it's strong, but not as strong as condi imo. Have a nice day. Almost forgot, the build : gw2skills.net/editor/?PSwAsiZlFwmYVsO2IOeLvnSA-zxIU8o7fQYzFqqQpqvB-e
  2. Thank you, I'll look at this.I've never consider Ele since it seem always use to DPS. I've also look at druid since it seem the more common support. Was about to ask if an hybrid playing is zealot staff/lb (or lb/axe-horn since CA already give a healing option) can be good enough for low fractal and open ?Tbh I'm a bit loss, gw2 has a very unique focus on class/role so it's a bit disturbing. For Necro that actually the one I play the most, changing build everyday.Maybe a condi scourge can fill the gap between both role, idk. I'm not really asking for a solution here tbh, more for advice so I can make my choice easier.
  3. Hello, I'll need a bit of help to choose a fun class to play.I don't plan to do Raid. 1st, I've played since 1 month since I get this account and have try : Necro - Reap - Scourge => Minion army was funny (15 pet wtf xD), but that not what I look for.Warrior - Spellbreaker => don't like itMesmer - Mirage => BoringGuardian - Dragonhunter => BoringNow, about me, I'm an ex- hard Raider and come here to chill. That said I struggle to find a fun class who fit me due to the lack of rôle. I love support/heal my team but, I don't want to struggle when solo and don't want to carry multiple gear.Do a class like this exist ? Also, last thing, I'm more into "magic-style" but somehow, here most build end-up with sword, axe, bow... Very few scepter/staff so I never feel like this even on necro :/ ) So here I'm, asking to this beautiful community if they can give me some advice.I don't care if meta or not, if gear are expensive or class hard to play.I'm not afraid to learn and farm as needed. Have a nice day !
  4. Is it really just visual ? Or the animation removal gonna make the chain a bit faster ?
  5. As a retired HL ESO player, I agree and disagree. But : It got a very cool graphique design choice, very immersive Are you kidding me? ESO's graphics are amatuerish at best. Character models and animations aren't anywhere close to Guild Wars 2's. Some environmental graphics look "okay", but overall feels very static and bland. I realize a lot of people play ESO but that game is the very definition of "blah".I agree for animation (mount, skill, char) but the world overall is very pretty, far more than gw2.
  6. I use dagger for my Reaper with axe in 2sd bar.I hate how sluggish GS feel, I just can't play with this weapon..Necro really need another or a buff to his second main hand power weapon to made it a viable choice.
  7. ^This. That What I do, like OP I like the "mage style" from the core shroud. But I like the fancy aoe we get with reaper shroud, so I just play time to time core or reaper and I'm fine.Core have less burst, but the sustain dmg and safety from the ranged 1 is very enjoyable sometime.Core is also better to farm in open, ranged who 2 shoot most mob are pretty convenient. But, tbh, I still hope for a 3rd spe where we get back a ranged shroud option (plz no bow)
  8. As a retired HL ESO player, I agree and disagree. ESO have a true potential, but : Performance are horrible and get worse each patch Most content, especially Open world and dungeon are boringly easy and feel dead (no even, no hidden loc, no world event, etc..)The way you discover the lore feel very unnaturalThe fact that everything is so easy to get made the game boring fast for those like me who don't really care about housing. The last years of playing I was just spamming raid for for HM and some achievement.Gameplay feel way less dynamic (probably similar to gw2 in raid but in open world it's boring) But : It got a very cool graphique design choice, very immersiveIncredibly deep lore, really love itHousing (if you like it) is incredible, I've see some insane houseYou can be a Werewolf or Vampire in + of your class (with some advantage and drawback) if you like it I think a mix of ESO and GW2 would be incredible ^^But, for now, I find GW2 pretty fun with lot of thing to do.And since for the moment I'm more into solo stuff or event farm, it is fun and way less boring than spamming the same 3-4 raid each day ~ After all : matter of taste ! ESO's combat was bloody awful. Everyone runs around stopped over. I truly despise that game. Whereas, GW2's combat is vibrant. I have never had an issue with combat graphics in this game. I agree. I played ESO for a little bit and thought I was actually going to stick with it because the game seemed really fun and interesting. However, it quickly became apparent that their combat system is pretty weak compared to GW2. Floaty movement, poor hit detection/wonky combat animations, heavy reliance on charged attacks and cast/cancel animations, and insane lag in competitive play make ESO a game that looks quite excellent on the surface, but is actually straight garbage once you start digging into it! Even worse is BnS! What a combat system that game has! That's one of the most important aspects of game play to me and BnS sure delivers! It feels more like a fighting game than an MMO and I sense there was a lot of depth there. The problem with BnS is that the rest of the game just seems like trash. You have a very generic storyline that as far as I can tell every character you create has to play through with pretty much no variation. I might have been able to stomach that, too, if you didn't end up dealing with issues like zoning into a PvP match to find the match has already started without you while you were lagging in...just not worth my time for such a low quality game. The extremely Asian art style didn't help matters for me!If we speak only about combat system, my vote go with no doubt to the good old Dragon Nest.Every other aspect of the game was trash. But the game combat was a jewel with all these combo and fluidity, what a waste of potential :/
  9. Not true at all. I soloed most of the champions in Bjora Marches (the 10 min event ones) on my berserker reaper and didn't even have to switch to my survival minion build (still zerker) that I use for soloing hard bosses like Trillia. I don't see how you can make the ten minute timer if you are using sustain gear (and staff...??) to solo them. I also kill that champ krait in Sparkfly Fen alone daily because it's the fastest way to complete blood in the water. The only difference from the meta build is I use shout utilities and the trait that makes shouts heal. Probably still a "massive" dps loss for purists but it works well enough. I don't have test these one yet, not even in full group, so can't tell you ^^And like I said at the end of my post, it's also a matter of taste (I use assassin gear, so not sustain one)Staff is mostly for meta event, I only use axe/war, I don't stay w/o shroud long enough to care about second weapon bar.

Totally agree buddy.
  11. Has someone who love core Necro, yes, reaper feel very squishy for some hard solo (champ/legendary).That also a problem I encounter with all the open-world section of Mettabattle.I end up to stop with this site and check more on youtube video of people actually doing it instead of just speaking about it. Now that my understanding are better, yes, reaper is weak in lot of solo situation if you play with "meta" build/gear.1st : Berzerker is bad for open world if you solo hard boss a lot (doesn't matter if you just run meta/bus). Marauder (only in ascended, you lose to much in exo) and Assassin work way better for me. One give you more life and lose almost nothing compared to Zerk. The second give you what you are lacking playing alone : Critical.Add accuracy + Strengtg Sigil & Strength rune and you're at perma 12-15 might (scholar are not good enough to solo thing as no healer/buffer cover your back)2st : Always use a sustain tree. The popular build run full glass canon with Spite / Soul / Reap.I trade dmg for sustain and currently use 2 version depend the mood.DM / Soul / Reap (minion) or BM / Soul / Reap (well) : I enjoy the last the most, in condi heavy minion are my go to (also the easiest for break-bar).I've also some very strong core build. In DM, unholy sanctuary make you incredibly durable and in BM just pick all trait that steal life and the last for well if you play with them.In Soul reaping unlike most, I don't pick the +33% crit but use the one who give me ton of LF while not in shroud. That allow me to be in shroud alot.As I play in Assassin gear, I'm at 73% crit. Add the reaper trait that boost it for each vuln stack (reaper + axe auto-atk) and you'r easily between 80 and 100%. I know I lose DPS by not using spite, but their is to many thing that just can be cheese with glass canon build in open/dg solo.I also don't play with GS but use Axe+war+staff. My only goal is to camp Shroud. And I hate how slow and sluggish are GS animation : Personal choice here, play it if you it like instead of staff. Also, from what I've look and read, Reaper and Necro seem to have take ton of nerf/change since it release so that maybe why people thing glass canon Reaper is enough to solo. Note : I don't say Metabattle build are all bad, and I speak mostly :1 - For me2 - For soloing hard meta/boss/leg/dg3 - It's probably also a matter of taste Here is on of the build I use, can change depend situation :My Reaper solo build (BM-Well version) I don't claim at all that is "the" build, it's just what work for me most of the time.Be like me, listen to experienced player, look video of people doing the hard content you'r looking for in solo. And test, test a lot to find what work for you, doesn't matter if you die a lot, try again and again.Build & gear are only the 1st step, after that for many hard one you'll also to learn all boss pattern and when to avoid/sustain. From what I've test, Staff-Staff Mesmer and Core/Spellbreaker Warrior are the most easiest to solo. But I prefer play Reaper, he's my favorite and do very well too. GL, be patient and have fun, hope this will help you a bit ! EDIT : =>Don't use this in group content (outside meta event ofc) ! <=

  13. Eu player here, playing in France.I experienced few lag during an auric farm train.Dunno if wwe was to much on the map or if it was general. My co was fine. Not that a problem but can worries a bit.
  14. As a new player I had way more fun exploring HoT than PoF maps. Both are good, but PoF is to flat most of the time and like someone point it out : waypoint are severely lacking.Oh, and HoT didn't have these annoying Hearth ><
  15. The only thing I don't understand in DM tree is : why carapace give use Toughness while Necro mechanic shroud is about Vitality pool :/I don't have problem with this line otherwise.DM - besides the minion buffs - is about damage mitigation (protection, toughness, less incoming condi damage via multipliers and cleanses). Vitality does not mitigate damage. It does it in "some" way when you are in core- and reaper-shroud, which lowers your incoming damage, but it is not a mitigation in the first place. If they continue their agenda to remove toughness from traits (so that the player not accidently becomes the mob tank in pve) then we can expect a replacement of the toughness on carapace with a multiplier - sth. like every carapace lowers your incoming direct damage by 0.5%, up to 15% at 30 carapace.Yeah make sens, would be a good change to ^^
  16. I just noticed recently that lof of talking npc in the background or item, statue, memorial, book here and there was most of the time very interesting when you seek about the lore.No I always ear what npc said and even make a Lion Arch tour with the npc who guide tourist xD It was weird at 1st, and a bit frustrating cuz it make gater information about lore harder. But finally I find that more natural than a wall of text in a book and made the game more alive.
  17. As a new player myself who love doing challenging solo stuff like champ and legendary, or even dungeon. The best advice I can tell you and make me way better is to not be afraid to retreat before you become to low HP.Their is many situation or you'll have to be patient and kite (can be frustrating if you're a melee player) and wait for opportunity/recover to re-engage. Keep always at least 1 condi-cleanse skill in your bar as it's, for me, the most dangerous thing in the game when solo. Their are lot of build for diverse content on metabattle, but be careful, from what I've experienced, these build are not made at all for solo hard thing. If you plan to play solo a lot, I'll suggest to look at Youtube player that actually do and show it. Ignore build who speak about solo hard thing but don't prove it, they often don't work. Try different class, I was finding Guardian and Warrior very cool, but one day made an Necro out of curiosity and it was a blast, can't imagine to play something else now.So don't be shy/afraid by leveling different class to 80 (and try at least 1 spe, fast to do with exploration bus) before investing to much in a char. For craft, I don't have look at it myself so I can't help. But it's not necessary, I'm in full exo since I hit lv80 and never had trouble doing content like this. You can have it from TP or from drop/even/HoT seller.Ascended are mainly for raid or harder fractal from what I understand. Will probably make one later but for now I'm fine. Don't be afraid to ask in game when you need helps/advice and to favorite the wiki and many site made by player. The community is very friendly in general and incredibly productive, never seen that much guide, old player making bus to help new in HoT map and so, very cool community. And last, the advice I give to new player in every game I played : Test ANYTHING you want. That very important, don't be afraid to failed miserably, just test thing before judge.Their is lot of "cool" build that are in fact bad once you are familiar with how the class work and in an other hand, lot of underrated build who are very fun and totally work. It's just a game, nothing will happen if you made mistake ^^ TL;DR : just have fun and test all you want :)
  18. The only thing I don't understand in DM tree is : why carapace give use Toughness while Necro mechanic shroud is about Vitality pool :/I don't have problem with this line otherwise.
  19. I fell in love with Necro, the core one.I know it's not even close to be pve meta, but damn I really love the shroud like this and really can't go reaper or scourge.I always wanna play something who feel mage, and I really appreciate the Dark Magic & Lich theme we got with him.I also really love the Blood Fiends, this little ball of mist. A friend sent me the mini-one so I've two of them now <3I'm not a big fan of other minion look, but I've play a period of time with Nova, Rise and all minion, damn, it's so fun to run in a mass fight and end-up with 15 minion around xDI've always ton of idea about how to play it and it's very fun to build this class to me.It's very tanky, never encounter something I can't solo (except when I play like idiot :>) I'm ranged and hit like a truck.I've build so I'm 80%+ of the time under shroud that allow me to be always full life with the Unholy Sanctuary and use few minion mostly for cleanse and CC. I've also play Hizen Mesmer double-staff who was hella fun but still don't like mesmer animation/gameplay.I've try Spellbreaker and Dragonhunter, and was disappointed, their core version were more fun to me. Edit : Trying to find a picture on my phone dunno if I've put them on cloud..Got one from char screen. As you can see, I love simple thing ; and since I'm still a bit new, I don't have ton of outfit. Any tips to gather a decent collection for free ? I've try to buy with karma the gear look I don't have in all region I explore but still have only few :< @Buran.3796 Your Guardian look very cool :)
