As someone who has recently crossed back over from ESO (played that since release) i can tell you that in my experience GW2 feels way more alive than any game i currently play, mainly due to the open world aspect that this game does better than anyone else. In ESO i could wander zones and bump into a handful of people or a group doing rotations in Blackreach, but here its much more vibrant and as the above poster has said i am catching up on LW content (just finished Skyscale) and there are still folks doing Meta's in these older zones.I was/am a Grand Overlord / Former Emperor in Cyrodill PvP which is being destroyed by their 'Performance' balancing and having now sampled GW2 WvW no way am i going back. From what i can see this game is nowhere near dead, far from it, its a breath of fresh air after the disaster that is now ESO. Be Safe

I don't have much experience of Condi builds but i mained an Engi since release and recently returned to the game.I used to run riffle and turrets as most did but for a change i did the scrapper spec. Core is good and still holds a lot of decent skills and whilst i fully back anyone wanting to play how they want i cant recommend Scrapper enough.You can still play core (i hated the hammer to start with) and use riffle/pistol etc but Scrapper is like CoreV2, it gives you so much more on top, more survivability (barriers), some decent speed buffs and a 'get out of jail free card' with sneak gyro. I hate Holo - its not my style but for someone who loved Core, scrapper is just the icing on the cake. Again not trying yo change your mind but you can still have the core 'feel' with extra's. Seriously cannot believe what im reading here, OP how much have you learned in all those hours of PvP?im a returning player crossing back from ESO PvP to WVW in here as a Ranger.With less than 100 hours or so in GW2 wvw even i have no problems with Reapers (Scourges on the other hand!).LB/GS, Lightening reflexes, muddy terrain and use the Jacaranda because if owt needs a nerf its that bloody plant. Honestly if shroud is an issue keep at distance and wait until its over - then toast um. Even better just swap to a Druid, root root root, they never get close. Be Safe

So ive been back here now for a couple of months and i am really enjoying the game (even the Skyscale grind!), its a breath of fresh air after ESO plummeted off a cliff.Im still mainly a solo open world quester/explorer who does like to get involved in map meta's for a laugh so nothing i ask is remotely requested for PvP or Fractals. Ok enough waffling, im running pretty much full soldiers so coupled with sneak gyro i can pretty much go anywhere safely.i am experimenting now as so much has changed in the years ive been away and my questions are about HGH, POP and Anticorrosion plating. I have read that POP works as a self buff (ie it works on the caster) but does ACP work the same way?So does ACP cleanse conditions on ME when i cast protection on ME?Currently im using both Inventions and Alchemy as there are traits in both lines that give me QOL rather than Meta.Lastly for Overland, purely selfish Solo would you use HGH over POP? i do mainly run with Medic Gyro as it helps with escort quests and i like Reconstruction field but is giving up HGH too much of a hit on elixirs? Any advice is greatly appreciated.Thanks in Advance.

I have found that pretty much anything is viable in open world farming.Im a hammer scrapper and always have rocket turret slotted for the stun, aoe and its a cracking 'oh shit' there's something chasing me distraction jobbie.Best thing about Engineers and especially scrapper is the amount of different things you can slot to ease the boredom of farming, flamer, elixir gun, different turrets, sure not Meta but who cares when your just roaming doing quests and stuff? Ah didn't see it. First time being on the forums. Y it probably does. But it also feels bad when I just learned my rotation, did 20k DPS on a boss but when I asked if someone could tell me my DPS I was basically told to stop being an ***hole and download arcdps. At this point I guess I'll have to download Gw2 onto my laptop which is not something I wanted :/ Alternatively, you could just ignore them, it's what I'd do. I'm a staunch believer that 3rd party software doesn't belong in an MMO, and so I don't use it. I don't raise a fuss, since the dev's said it's ok, but I won't be using it, no matter how many expletives they throw my way.This One has wisdom Be Safe

AYe POF is laggy as hell, no problems with any other zones, even HOT with a full meta burning on prime time, its something to do with the Hamsters im sure of it. Be Safe

DPS Meters are a cancer in any game.They promote bad game play where all folks do is mash buttons in an attempt to top a crappy list.In my many years of leading raids in numerous games i have found that those that strive to outdo their group to look good in numbers are the worst of all players.We should always reward those that take the time to watch the mechanics, be first to res a team mate, CC when needed at the expense of damage, DPS meters promote the opposite. I banned any form of these awful add-ons from any guild i have ever run, it made us far more successful. Be Safe

I get what your saying and its great we all come up with different ways to do the same thing, i couldnt get on with the FT, guess its just me, i just found in open world PVE trying to catch up (LW3/HOT/POF) that scrapper with hammer on multipul targets - Thunderclap/Electro whirl + Spare capacitor/Shredder Gyro just wrecks everything around me. Hi mate, returning player here so may be able to put a set of fresh eyes on it.I started as a engineer when the game started but switched to Ranger and stuck with that until the Druid elite spec came out which i loved.I left to play ESO full time half way through HOT (hated it) and although i find POF equally frustrating my Druid ate the content with ease.Now to the real stuff - having played Cyrodiil in ESO i wanted to try WvW here and also build a tanky Scrapper.OMG its so much fun - you can look up on Metawhatever but the thing is that Engies have so much different stuff it really is down to what your comfortable with.For WVW im running Alchy and Explosives mainly using Hammer and Mortar Kit (swap out for sneak gyro when needed).I mainly roam taking easy 'Cows with saddlebags' and soloable points using Bulwark, Elixir U and Rocket turret.This works for 'me' and its 50/50 when i go 1v1 - i die a lot but its seriously fun. Someone above said not to bother with the spec until you have unlocked it all - great advice because scrapper doesn't shine until you have the whole bag of tricks.I thought HOT and POF were easy on my druid - with a scrapper its stupidly easy - barrier, lots of healing, burst damage with hammer, want to skip mobs? Sneak Gyro seems like it never ends in pve! Stick with it, its not the best class in WVW (well not for a newbie like me) but this is the most fun class ive played in over 30 years of gaming. Be Safe

Thanks for the comment :) Scrapper is also in a decent place as well. Out of the 2 ranger specs (so far), I find DPS druid to be the hardest to be successful on. Condi Druid and its "melt ya down while ya cant move while being a bit tanky" is a bit too good imo. Hopefully this gets toned down a tad. I assume that for a condi version you would switch to shortbow? Yeah i love my scrapper, he was my first character when the game launched but i switched to Ranger as it was more fun.I am using my druid now to catch up on the storyline (kitting the scrapper for wvw roam).ive always played druids in EQ/EQ2/WOW etc so would love to get back into it. I have recently returned and am playing catch up on both storyline and my new found love of WVW (i played wvw - Cyrodiil in ESO since it started).I couldnt get on with Holosmith but love the scrapper and only need to make a few adjustments between pvp/pve. For solo questing and roaming in WVW scrapper just has everything fun! bombs, mortars, a decent invis (in pve anyway) and it suits my playstyle which is more about fun these days than getting too hung up when i get owned :)In WVW i would recommend getting the warclaw (mount) as soon as you can, it doesn't feel like a super speedy way to travel but certainly helps.I used to love guarding keeps in ESO and in GW2 you actually get rewarded for doing it! Ok so i finally finished the Departing.But i did nothing fancy.No extra port numbers no dancing naked round the camp fire, the only thing i did different was to bring a friend, my sister in fact who's been playing this game from the start.But just in case heres how i rolled: Fought Balthazar as normal, got killed, woke up.Listened to all the dialog, got my equipment.Fought clones in the cave and went to see the Judge.Listened to all the dialog.Then speed followed the white bird ignoring all the banter and climbed up the tree thing to see Balthazar again (all the time my sister following as a wispy thing).Returned to the judge, listened to the dialog.Killed Eater of souls with Sister actively helping just in case this helped.Once dead i backed away from the prison, there's some trees just back from the scene i ran around which usually stopped me from disconnecting at this point.As soon as you are able to head up to the gate, run, don't wait for the dialog to end, enter the portal out. This is where i have been crashing recently, this time it didn't and the only change was having someone with me. In case anything else matters i did this at 10:30 GMT, PC (decent not GCHQ spec) and Virgin cable internet.The character is a Soulbeast and i skipped in and out of pet meld as i needed (previously ive tried with pet out all the way or with no pet).Kaspersky security running as normal so firewalls etc don't seem to make any difference. Whilst you folks are discussing my old favorite class as a returning player i am trying to make a Druid build for WVW roaming.Could any really knowledgeable soul clear up an issue i have found conflicting information on please? Does the passive trait of 'Signet of Renewal' increase astral force? Be safe

Completed this yesterday, took 12 attempts, not sure if i did anything different but on the last attempt i did not clear all the mobs just let the scene unfold as normal BUT i stayed with Tonn all the time (switched to range attacks with riffle only - im a scrapper), stuck to him like glue and only moved once each set of mobs were dead. This is the main reason i started the poll, as a returning player i couldn't believe that folks weren't screaming the roof down.I have never come across a game where progress blocking bugs have gone unaddressed for so long and the excuse of 'we could not replicate this' is not really good enough.Its sad that its obviously a fault deep within the game as so many people get the issue on different parts of the story.Having now made my scrapper my new main i have started from the beginning again doing the personal story and LV2 with numerous disconnects including many mentioned on these forums (Tower Down took 12 trys!!). So as a returning player i have been staggered at the amount of disconnects in both Living World and the main story line.This is stuff that prevents progress which is even more frustrating when mounts are locked behind content.Soooo i am just trying to get an idea how rife this is as from discussions in game it seems to be 'The Norm'.Do we need to shout louder (im good at that) or is it just a select few of us who need to forget the game and go back to where we came from?I must stress that i never get disconnects during normal play which i have found to be really smooth (except POF zones but lets not go there!) Be Safe The only solution in this thread that I have not tested thoroughly is the - clientport 443 command line argument suggested on the last page, mainly because I have not been doing the storyline atm. The poster seems knowledable though so it's worth a shot. I would think that Anet would take notice and implement a permanent solution if any of these seem likely to be the fix, but I think they're no longer paying attention. Also if it is an isp or internet routing issue they would not be able to reproduce it easily. Thanks for the reply,I spent all last night and this morning trying the different methods folks have posted here with a further 7 disconnects, ive submitted another ticket but that's all im willing to waste my time on. If i don't get a response then my return here will be short, no chance am i continuing with a broken story line (also stuck with disconnects in LW) when the developers don't care.
