  1. Twice today I've placed my Battle Standard directly on top of a downed ally. Not beside them, not behind them. Dead smack center of them. I use ground target on target. In both of these instances, the battle standard did not revive my ally. The player was down for roughly 2-3 seconds (i always pop quickness when dropping my battle standard, so it gets placed quickly.), but when the battle standard landed, they were not revived. I was then called out for not knowing how the elite works. Can someone please explain to me why battle standard did not revive? Other players were saying that battle standard cannot revive an ally if they have "x" stacks of poison, or if they are below a % of hp. However, I have never had this issue before. In certain cases I will also pre-cast the battle standard (if i know my ally will be downed before the animation goes off).
  2. That's hardly a realistic breakdown. The thief is moving while using the SB 5 (arrow travel time). Plus there is nowhere in the game that is truly flat. SB 5 requires LOS, which means going over hills can actually harm their travel time. SB 5 is very strong when crossing ravines or between hill tops. In that same logic, the jump from Ranger and Warrior both allow you to gap cross much more efficiently than thief. Thief teleportation is also hindered further by requiring a route to get to. Can't remember the exact wording, but something along the lines of "no path available". Don't get me wrong, I like that you broke down every ability, but it doesn't truly account for environment, and manipulating the environment to the classes benefit. Thief cannot out pursue a warrior or ranger in escaping.
  3. Won't lie, spit up my drink when i read this. I feel your pain.
  4. shortbow 5 doesn't offer that much mobility tbh.. rangers have some pretty insane mobility. Soulbeast with a bird, and it's on a pretty short CD. Pair that with warhorn for swiftness and sword for leap and you're hauling kitten across the map. I can usually outrun thieves on my warrior as well. Sword leap, gs charge can get me away pretty easily. edit: the biggest perk of sb 5 is the vertical aspect of it, and being able to quickly move to higher ground. Although there's only a few maps where that would really benefit you.
  5. I've said it before, but I think they should drastically alter the pip tally. ie.Win: 3 pipsLoss: 1 pipRank tier: +1 pip /rankTop Stat: 2 pip / stat Add additional stats, like most executes (not assists), decap/capping (not just passive points for fighting on nodes), highest boon distribution, highest power dmg, highest condi dmg.I realize players might be intimidated by this at first (with the idea that it would limit non optimal builds), but that's the difference between ranked and regular games. I think this would also encourage diversity in comps. Players would want to strive to achieve a top stat (so if there was 3 condi's on the team already, they might switch to power..)
  6. Metabattle has decent builds, but the best builds are never posted. Fear of ANETS banhammer.
  7. Any class/build with dps can melt those things man. It only takes about twice as long as it would to kill Svanir or Chief. If you get multiple people on them say 2+, they die really really fast, and those things don't even fight back. In my opinion those things need to turn on players and deal damage while they proceed to the gates. Make them apply counter pressure to the players, which will in turn make them more difficult to kill. Well I was playing Spellbreaker, the metabattle build one, the 4.5 star one. There isn't a berserker on metabattle.Ya'll need to show some videos of them melting. Because they aint melting to 4.5 star metabattle Spellbreaker. Btw it uses Berserker rune, so it IS dps build. How much damage are you pulling every match? 100k? 200k? 300k? edit: spellbreaker is used for it's boon strip and daze spam. Not damage lol
  8. Also, I actually like being able to focus on playing the field- instead of staring at a raid/squad box to left click players to heal them. Makes it much more involved. Which is why it's much easier to heal AND dps at the same time.
  9. You actually don't have to be near your allies to heal them lol.. ele can dish out great heals at range, so can FB, Druid, even renegade. All of those have pretty high burst healing capabilities. Stacking is more for the boons, since boon sharing is crucial. However, that is not specific to healing. Especially considering that most of the boons come from the dps.
  10. What tools would that be exactly? I haven't played every mmo in existence- so what other MMO's uses finishers for healing/support/dmg?
  11. However, there is a trinity in this game- regardless of what people might think. You can heal pretty insane amounts of dmg. And tank mechanics are based off toughness
  12. if you ever healed in ffxiv (or similar games) that 50 person squad (for example) would be split into about 5 parties with 1 to 3 healers each party and you'll mostly be focusing on your tank for direct heals and just throwing an aoe-regen on your dps since they shouldn't be taking any damage anyway unless it's a raidwide damage phase where you aoe-heal (but for a large radius). if it ever happened in gw2 (which is very unlikely, and i don't mind it not happening) you wouldn't have 50 or 49 players of the squad lumping into party 1, commanders would definitely recruit a minimum amount of tanks and healers and split the whole squad into parties. but yeah if it happened then i'll finally roll a healer class as i mentioned in my first reply to this thread There's something very satisfying about outhealing tempest as a shout warrior. The use of blast finishers is what makes GW2 so unique. The fact that it's up to individual players to be near the blast finishers is key.
  13. this is exactly what i'm saying.that feeling of saving someone with a targeted healing skill is missing here.or purpose giving someone might so they can use their next big attack on the boss for tons of damage. this not only feels good for the healer/ supporter but it makes the dps grateful to the healer. Targeted heals when you have a squad of 50? No thanks.
  14. On meta-battle there's a staff druid build for open world. Tags a lot, and is pretty sustainable. Might try that :)
  15. Preach. I can play my staff temp, and dish out nearly 1mil heals and still get steam rolled.
  16. Yeah I noticed, I was playing spellbreaker, thats why I couldn't dps them down.I feel like warriors do little to no damage, very sad. I play a berserker warrior and I can melt them. Pretty much every class can melt them.
  17. Which MMO have you played that had no toxicity in the PvP mode? I have played a lot of titles and cannot ever recall seeing one without toxic PvPers. Albion isn't very toxic. WoW wasn't toxic around the lich king expansion. There's a lot of MMO's that don't have toxic PvP environments, unless you're saying that PKing in itself is... toxic? GW2, however is incredibly toxic.. Mainly just from the tilting of AFK and botting..
  18. I've got an entire tab of skins alone... Some of the ascended backs take multiple steps to craft, so there's a tab entirely dedicated to that. Tab for all the random world events. Tab for all ascended accessories from WvW, and Fractals. WvW tab with all siege equipment for commanding. Tab for food and utilities. I think you get the point. I had an entire bank tab of skins and another one of ascended rings that I both collected over the years. I then realized that I already had enough transmutation charges and destroyed all my skins (all the ones, that I did not want to sell) because if I wanted to use a skin, I could just use a transmutation charge. I sometimes change skins, but over the months I still get more transmutation charges than I actually use. So I lost practically nothing when I deleted the skins. And for the ascended rings: I just keep the most needed stats (berserker, marauder, ...) and everything else I salvage. And if I need some rare stat that I do not have, I just buy one with season 3 currency. If a player is a hoarder, there will never be enough inventory/bank space. B) I think you get the point. ;) I mean, don't get me wrong, it's basically hoarding- however, I keep a lot of these for a reason. In gw1, after like 3-4 years they opened up the soulbound items and made them trade-able. Now will ANET do that? Doubtful, but like I said- I'm not requesting this change for myself. I'm not really sure why every one keeps thinking I need more space when I clearly stated that I already purchased extensions on every character and my bank.
  19. Uhm, no.. You can burst them down fairly quick.
  20. they wont be able to afford it but you can gift them one as a welcoming gift (20 slots) when they join :) also having all expansions which makes the total free bagslots to 5 is super cheap right now on 50% off sale for what you pay for (i mean you're paying for an expansion so lots of new content, elite specs, etc. aside from the free bagslots) --- compared to buying a bagslot individually in the gemstore and yeah the 24 slot bags was just an example. 5 x 20 slot bags is decent too and plenty of space I bought bags for every one of them... 13g x 80. Was not a cheap gift at all.
  21. I would actually love to see ranked matches use the mist champions more. It's insane that there aren't more maps with a focus on them considering there are 4 reward tracks for them. edit: referring to stronghold maps.
  22. Not sure if it was adjusted, but my old guild that tried out the game said it was 1 bag slot I believe.. Also, a new player isn't going to be able to afford a 24 slot bag..
