  1. Just the fact there is this much confusion and theories on the credit indicates how much we need an answer from ANet... thx to all who contributed to the discussion 🙂.
  2. While the first scenario does explain some of the confusion, it's hard for me to imagine for some of the defenses (I mean, we were defending garri for about 20 minutes, constantly running back while trying to repair to cut off their own supply of attackers, so we know we died and killed often); if that does explain the situation, then it's so close to random that I simply will go PPT. The second scenario actually happened twice and neither defense granted credit (we flipped 2 keeps and killed the 20+ zerg that was there and still received no credit).
  3. That's what I thought as well, but all of the keeps that I listed had at least a destroyed outer wall and I killed at least 3 enemies in each instance, which is where my confusion stems from... if the idea is that the player I killed must have killed multiple NPCs or manned a siege weapon, that is simply ridiculous... you could have a 50 player zerg with only 5-8 players with those requirements... Thank you for your input; hopefully we can see some more information/insight from others!
  4. I didn't see anything posted within the last year, so I figured I would ask again; can we have a definitive answer as to what is required to receive credit for a defense participation for a tower or keep? Today I successfully defended my home garrison 4 times, SMC 3 times, and Hills 3 times, with at least 3 kills for each timed event (and on two occasions more than 15), and received a single credit for Keep Keeper... I don't know how to proceed to attempt to finish the WvW weekly defense challenges. Should we just assume it is a random system, or that it is bugged and we should ignore it (and consider ourselves lucky if we get the credit)? We can then simply let rival teams take our targets and focus on PPT to finish our weeklies instead of the large battles I thought ANet was encouraging... it truly feels like a waste of time on Sunday night to defend a keep when I could be finishing other weeklies... Please provide as much clarification as you can... I am truly at a loss. Thx!
  5. Just wanted to post about our awesome SMC defense; a few guildies with about 10 other random players defended SMC against a zerg of 25+ through sheer determination (and probably a bit of help from the lord 😄 ). Tons of fun; completed my weekly keep defense in 20 minutes, with a successful eviction of our enemies from OUR castle!
  6. It seems like almost every change that has been made for WvW in the last 2 years has been to promote playing in large zergs/blobs and minimized or flat out denied rewards for smaller group or individual play; is this ANet's intent? I honestly think it's an understandable decision if the player data supports it, but we've been told multiple times that all playstyles are valid and vital to the WvW content... from increasing large target rewards to the most recent removal of event participation for repairing (outside of repairing a wall and disabling siege, what can a small group do to hold a keep until support arrives???), to nerfing range and duelist builds, it seems ANet wants to promote blob-group play only (heaven help you if you play during off-hours when no commanders are running). I'd like to know if this is intentional and, if so, can ANet just tell us this, so can play these styles expecting little other than helping our team and, if we want rewards, create builds for zerg content only? We already know scouting for a team is close to reward-less, so should havoc groups and roamers expect the same? Thx for the time and consideration.
  7. RoH has been awesome; been running with the guild for the past few weeks and every time I log in has been a blast. I've been playing GW2 since launch and RoH has reinvigorated my game... I was just logging in to work on long-term goals, handle dailies, but since joining I'm looking forward to it each day. It's even had me joining raids in addition to my WvW and PvE game, and may bring me over to PvP as well... the community is that friendly and supportive.
  8. I appreciate providing the data to us ANet and look forward to the greater dispersal of Mystic Coins to the general player base. Thx!
  9. For this and other reasons I don't play the beta specs, though I do appreciate all that do to give the needed feedback to ANet. I don't have enough play time for stuff that happens to not count 😁.
  10. Strange topic... the original post seemed to indicate a decision was already made if upgrades didn't occur, then the discourse went crazy regarding value, pricing, lack of content, expense dictating value... if your system can't play the game, don't even consider pre-ordering... just wait to see if your system can play the game sometime in the future and, if it can, evaluate then...
  11. This wouldn't personally annoy me, but I understand that some RPers or players into the fashion elements may not want to see their heads haloed by 5 pink/purple blades all the time... It would also open up an interesting sniping style in WvW & PvP (you'd have to always assume that a virtuoso out of combat had a fresh max stack of blades to throw at you, instead of visually confirming).
  12. It's amazing to me how much here is stated as fact when being opinions: "The elites suck"... have you conducted a survey to determine this is an opinion held by everyone? I know quite a few players who enjoy most if not all of the beta specs and are excited for the elites. "Fishing sucks"... yet, for some reason, you can search this very forum and find many posts asking for fishing to be brought to GW2 "The maps are trash"... I personally thought some of the elements were great, some were not... similar to how I felt about the other two expansions (and the core game at launch) All I'm saying is have your opinion, feel free to express your opinion and discuss it, but please remember it's your opinion. If you think the game will be as terrible as many here are claiming, then I will sadly not see you in-game... I hope something else can bring you the joy you had hoped GW2 would. Me, I am excited for most of the elements I've seen so far and believe I will enjoy them immensely; if you feel the same way, I look forward to seeing you in Cantha! 👍
  13. We also need to remember if the story, including the prologue, all happens in the expansion, than new players in the future don't have to buy the IBS living world episodes... there have been some statements where people are concerned about new players not completing the Return To LW achievements won't know the details given out by Taimi and Gorrik, but think how confused a player who had never going through LWS 2 or 3 would have been starting in HoT and PoF? Having the entire story contained within EoD removes that problem for future players... They could solve that by bundling the previous LW season with the expansion in the future, but I digress... 😁
  14. I agree that you could increase the XP required for masteries to please some, but I think the overwhelming majority would prefer to keep it as it is (as mentioned by Malice). This comes down to a problem I've seen a lot from players who spend more than a couple hours playing each day. They want more content, more things to do, ways to spend more time, just more stuff; for that, I have the following suggestions for those players (including the OP): 1.) Stop using the wiki. This will result in a lot more time exploring and attempting to accomplish something. 2.) Stop using new tools for efficiency... when you are in Core Tyria, don't use your mount or gliding. When in PvP, don't use any bugs that result in being able to pull off that meta-chain. Don't use the legendary armory (if you have legendaries) and don't swap ascended gear. 3.) Go Hard Mode. Whenever you die (including down state), start over from the furthest WP from your goal. 4.) Go solo. Solo a raid boss... it will take a while... 5.) Try to do every event every where. I've never done this nor heard of anyone even attempting it, but if you want something to take some time... What I'm saying is, do something to challenge yourself. I don't think we can blame ANet for providing a plethora of content that we burn through because we have developed external tools to assist us (did ANet include all the collections assuming everyone would use a map to find them???) nor can we blame them for not using the internal tools they did give us to provide a good time for ourselves. The game is for everyone; have fun with it. Finally, the spirit shards can be used outside of those crafting legendaries/ascended items, if for nothing else than gaining gold through the Mystic Forge. I do agree we get them a bit too often and would like to see a retool of the XP rewards to include other items/currencies, but they are a resource if you wish to use them. Find what you play the game for, then enjoy playing the game. Have fun!
  15. I agree, but I think I look at it from a different point of view... while I expect some connection with GW1 (which I did play from Nightfall's release forward) and inspiration from the lore, I have no expectation that any of the art design, layout of the world or mechanics will be the same as GW1 at all... the games are so different that I don't think of GW2 as a sequel (despite the "2"), I view it as a separate entity that has some elements of GW1. I can understand the expectations though.
  16. This pretty much summarizes my thoughts exactly... strange to me that some people find the color of the jade so offensive that they have stated they are "disappointed with the expansion" and "I won't be buying". Of course, you fully have that right, but I personally don't think any color has offended me to the point where I quit doing something I thought was fun... Welcome to the internet; hyperbole is the standard... 😁
  17. Just want to state the level of communication here (both in the news item and on the forum) is wonderful; thank you for responding to questions in the forum. It's great to see this level of attention paid to the WvW playmode and the WvW players. While I loved getting outnumbered pips, they always felt a bit strange as an incentive ("we need help on this map because we are outnumbered, but if you show up to help we lose the bonus, so come help but not too many of you..."). I'm personally not that sad to see them go, particularly if they become a rarity (with a better balance of players across maps). My hope would be the true incentive for going to a sparsely-populated map is to help secure the map anyway... 😀
  18. This really doesn't work when the hacker is below the map, killing off others in WvW... if the server that had the guilty party was aware, they didn't seem to mind (I can't imagine they didn't see random players just falling over). There is no way to see the hacker, so no way to report them other than a general bug report...
  19. Same here; new update (which mentions the correction in the update notes) has fixed the issue... karma-purchased volatile magic sickles are working again. Thank you ANet!
  20. Still haven't seen any progress with this; I've had two other players notify me of experiencing the same issue (I stressed they should submit a bug report to validate frequency... not sure if they did)
  21. Experiencing the same problem; I did submit a bug report via GW2Also confirmed this is only for the consumables (my infinite VM harvesting sickles still give Volatile Magic) Update: ANet has replied to my website bug report. They have stated they are unaware of the problem and are requesting all players experiencing this issue to submit a bug report in-game to connect the user data. You can also submit a bug report through the forum, but in-game will contain more pertinent information (as it links to the instance, your account, etc...).
  22. Just checking if anyone has any information regarding the GW wiki... seems to be spinning to load indefinitely...
  23. First, love the episode, especially the tone and meta!Questions:1.) This episode was rather short; should we expect this length going forward?2.) Though the frost looks great, it makes the action difficult to see; was this considered with the mechanic and intentional?3.) Is Karma expected to be the new currency (replacing currency like Unbound and Volatile Magic)?4.) Males in the keep are turned by Jormag, female characters in story tempted... the dragons have genders?5.) Will Strike Missions continue to advance towards Raid-level content or will they remain entry-level? Thx for the opportunity and the fun episode!
  24. Keep in mind the end of Season 4 was, at one time, the end of the story content as per an interview with developers (sorry I can't remember who). In the interview, the developer stated they were not sure that they would have a Season 5, so they wanted to wrap up the story in a satisfying way. Whether you think they succeeded or not, they certainly wrote the season as a final chapter. Finally (my guess would have been shortly after the layoffs), they determined they would DEFINITELY have a Season 5 (I think it was never set in stone before that), so it's now time to determine the path. Given that perspective, you can easily understand why the last episode ended the way it did.As for the OP, I would echo another suggestion to possibly play a different game until the content you want comes out. ANet doesn't seem to stick to a schedule regardless of impacting factors and have flat-out stated they won't rush content, so be prepared to wait or return later if you're not interested in the festivals/special events.
