So what you're saying here is basically that introducing mounts in pof was a mistake, since nothing can match the utility they provide when compared to not having mounts pre-pof. At this point it's just being spoiled by one feature and forgetting what "expansion content" actually normally is.

Unless you have something in mind that would somehow match the introduction of mounts?

    Mounts are hard to top.

I think it would have been cool to "upgrade" the mounts and make them useable as a companion that fight beside you, kind of like the chocobo in ffxiv. Maybe it would make the game to easy though, but would be fun to level up your mounts and gear them up and even adjust their build/skills.

Pet battles would be awesome as well, finally getting some more use out of the minis.

Anyway, i'm actually pretty stoked about fishing 🙂

You can currently buy the Heroic edition @ £2.84 / account as a one-off cost that will net you 77g/month as long as you log in each day... takes less than  aminute once set up.
https://www.kinguin.net/category/101995/guild-wars-2-heroic-edition-5-amazon-prime-gaming-cd-key  You can also use thankyou10 as a 10% discount code!

1000 gems = aprox £10 and you can get 180g from the gem exchange for those.

This equates to just over 2 months daily login rewards from a single account but it's a one-off hit for your money.

I have 10 accounts.  I log in using LaunchBuddy each day (takes 5 mins to do the lot) and then I close each account and just play my main.  I'm making nearly 800g / month for around 5 minutes/day plus whatever I make during my 2-3 hours per week on my main account.

    It's definitely worth doing. 😄

Most likely the keys will be fine and just from the amazon prime giveaway. But you can't be guarenteed anything when buying from a reseller not verified.

I wouldn't promote it here. Not very classy. We should encourage to buy on either Guild Wars 2 website or verified resellers.

Fine if you don't, but keep it to yourself imo.

And yeah, the site gives you the option to purchase buyer protection as an option, translating to "If you don't and you get screwed, you're screwed."

Game journos are notoriously bad at games. They hated HoT but loved PoF, now look at today, people still do chak garent, octovine, and even dragon stand. When was the last time you did doppelganger, maw of torment or GoS meta? Game journos have worthless opinions on the long term.

Yeah I almost never do META's, I use mounts every single time I play 🙂

Not everyone likes the same thing. In my opinion PoF was a better expansions than HoT by far, I can fully understand why someone who values META events a lot would disagree though.

😂 reviews from these sites have ZERO relevance. These same "professional" reviewers were "positive" about Catalyst and other awful elite specs hhahahaah! Fanboys desperately want EoD to be good, but all signs point to the inevitable.

And haters desperately want it to be bad so they can complain, oh wait, they will do that even if it's good 😆

  5. I play MMO's (and most games with controller, have for years). Yes i'm super casual. No fractals, raids or PVP etc.

Steam controller software is brilliant when you delve into its deep features.

And Guild Wars 2 is like it was made for controller thanks to the action cam and how it automatically switch to mouse mode when opnening vendor/options menu etc, usually have to map a button yourself to switch between your own programmed "action cam" and mouse mode.

Works best with a steam controller, but mine broke and impossible to get a new one now a days sadly. Right now on a cheap controller with really bad right stick (mouse) response, but I still get by 😛

You won't lack buttons with use of activation buttons. For things that doesn't require quick reactions you can also use double press/long press etc to do commands.

OP, I believe that is a marketing phenomenon called FOMO(Fear of missing out). Basically, it's an enticement to buy before time expires so you don't "miss out". Yeah...I'm not sugar-coating it, it's sleazy. Although ANet is more benign about micro-transactions due to being only cosmetics, they will still use these sorts of marketing tactics to get people to buy and keep the game running between expansions. This sort of thing is just general game industry shenanigans.

That also works by having everything available and then have sales rotate in and out on items, like PoE does it etc.

I don't know what way will make them the most money, but it's up for debate if is the most profitable solution.

how so? ff14 literally gives job revamp for outdated classes on top of new classes/ new skills, while warrior in gw2 still garbage for 2 years now in pvp for having 2012 skills.

and new raids, new trial bosses, normal modes/savage mode, new dungeons, tons new mounts, tons new armor sets.

whens last time gw2 get a raid or dungeon or actually challenging content?..oh did i mention endwalker story can single handily destroy all gw2 expansions including features.

And 1 living world episode can single handily destroy FFXIV's open world content.

    Okay i'm exaggerating.

But different games with different strengths. Have almost 1k hours in FFXIV, but at the end of the day the game couldn't hold my attention like GW2 does.

HoT maps were a pain at release, but they were made a lot easier. Now the only truly annoying map is Tangled Depths.

However, they definitely have more replay value. PoF maps are so boring with long stretches of nothing. At least in HoT you have to watch where you going, and heck you may even die. And even after all the years, the meta bosses are still the best. People still freak out over Octovine which is never going to stop being funny.

In the end, I haven't touched a lot of the PoF maps or even finished the story. So yea, HoT maps any day of the week.

Also HoT maps don't have those crappy hearts. All things being equal that would have been better. My first thought when reaching Cursed Shore was that the hearts were over! Well, they were, until Ember Bay came back with the awful resetting hearts that plague this game to this very day.

In the end, I have 1 HoT map compleition to my name so it was pretty good in that sense. (To compare, I only have 1 Core Tyria map completion; yea I hate map completion)

Path of Fire has the best looking maps imo.

I don't like META events, so I haven't gotten that much playtime in HoT and Living world maps as many others.

But for replay value, collections and achievements offer lots of that on all maps.

But for me best replay value maps are core maps.

    I like map completion 🙂

  9. HoT was the first expansion. I had over 4k hours in the core game in just 2 years. So was very excited. The HoT trailer was by far the best one as well.

That part where they revealed the gliders really got me excited.

Mounts got me even more excited 🙂

I'm excited for EoD and want fishing.  But would be lying if I said it have me more excited than gliders or mounts. Also skiffs is pretty cool I suppose, just with a skimmer already it doesn't exactly blow me away.

I'm glad we got the skyscale, but i'm a bit surprised they didn't save it for the expansion now that I think about it. Would have probably generated a lot more hype.

But gliders/mounts is hard to top when they've already done that.

I'm just happy this game still gets expansions.

Hopefully the story and maps will be really good.

Maybe maps where there are meta events aren’t the best places for Roleplay. I mean your Roleplay can happen at any places in the game, no need to ruin meta events for other players.

I find meta events to be extremely boring.

If I feel like doing dance emote for 20 hours on a map where a meta event is going on, I'll do just that, tyvm :=)

I am free to get enjoyment out of the maps as well.

I still haven't seen any suggested benefits of world chat which aren't better served by existing systems.

If you want to be notified of events or advertise guilds there's the LFG tool. If you want people to talk to you can join a big, active guild (or more than one), one with enough people that there will always be a conversation going but not as overwhelming and impractical as everyone in your region talking all at once.

Also I'm not sure any QoL feature where it seems one of the most important and useful features is "you can turn it off and never use it at all" is going to be worth Anet's time to make.

I haven't seen any arguments that isn't just "I don't want it, so no one should have it"

It will probably take almost zero "time/effort/money" to implement.

It's basicly WvW chat tweeked a bit.

No expansion will be delayed because of it 😄
