  1. My lord, the victims in this thread who are attacked when they don't want to PvP. I'm one of those people that's too nice for my own good, I give others the benefit of the doubt when I shouldn't. And you know what happens when I let someone pass me untouched, or when I don't add to a fight against a player who's having a 1v1/is outnumbered? I see them 3 minutes later with friends and they gank me. My own stupidity for expecting anything different so I'm not playing the "why me" card. But this is why you get attacked when you obviously don't want to fight. Because you can't tell me you won't turn around and try to attack someone as soon as you outnumber them.
  2. Engi and Ele still make good use of combo fields for themselves. But on a large scale for support yeah, it certainly isn't like the old days.
  3. I haven't read everything here but based on what I have, I'd like to say this: No matter what happens there will always be complaints. When a change is made, those that are satisfied will be silent and those that are not will make noise. Try to find positive threads on the state of WvW because I assure you they are a rarity. Too many people want WvW to be as competitive as PvP when it was never intended to be. It is the middle ground between PvE and PvP where you can do one or the other or both in the same area. There are never going to be fights that are perfectly balanced when as many as 80 players can be involved. There are too many variables to consider when there are 9 professions with each having 2 elite specs and how ever many stat, food, rune and sigil combinations there are. Just like there will never be leaderboards for the most successful guilds because it's too difficult to measure how that success is earned. It is true that balance is poor but this has always been an issue. People need to take the good with the bad and remember that having fun is at the core of it. The harder you try to see WvW as something it's not the harder it'll be to enjoy yourself. Personally I love poking at zergs by myself or with a couple friends and I have a great deal of fun no matter how often I die (which is usually a lot). When I'm with a zerg, I know that it's important to work with my teammates and to be aware of my surroundings, this intensity is another aspect of the enjoyment WvW brings me. Maybe it's a case of ignorance is bliss but, there haven't been many times in the history of WvW that I have been so unsatisfied with balance that I couldn't enjoy myself. I'm simply too enthralled in the chaos and laughs I'm having and I wish more could experience that.
  4. Completely agree. If you are that outnumbered, you should lose objectives. The fact that 10 people, with siege properly placed can defend a structure against 30+ people is just ridiculous. I know it sucks, but what do you expect the other servers to do, not attack you because they have a lot of people in WVW and you don't? This kind of statement to me reeks of self entitlement. Why should a group of 30+ deserve to take over a tower being defended by 10 people and well placed siege? 10 people with well placed siege being able to defend an objective against those odds should be applauded. That's also what siege is designed for, to defend against greater odds. A larger group doesn't "deserve" to win every objective just because they are larger. A smaller group should be able to defend themselves against a larger group. That's like saying that the small nerd in school deserves to be beaten up and have his lunch money taken by the bigger bully. Really irks me when I see people say that the large blobs running around WvW deserve to have everything captured by them. No, no they don't. They can try to take it and if it can be successfully defended then kudos to those that defended it, and it doesn't matter how they defended it. Siege is not to stop the enemy, it's to stall it. If a group is committed to taking an objective they can make multiple assaults until the objective is drained of supplies so repairs can't be made. Any unreachable siege from outside will then have to be destroyed from the openings or after the group pushes inside. Siege should never be able to completely stop a larger force. If it could, many people would never leave their walls. When I build siege in SMC for example, I don't build it with the intent to indefinitely hold off a map Q, I build it to kill rams/shield generators and to put pressure on gates so it takes them longer to get in which in turn gives our server more time to rally numbers for defense. People who think siege is supposed to stop the enemy rather than slow it are the ones that build 20 arrow carts in 10 square feet and hope if everyone uses them they'll be able to kill everything. Back when you could Burn stack a zerg to death with a condition damage build and Mortar shots was the only time I've ever seen siege wipe a full zerg. Ever since that was changed (and rightfully so) I haven't seen it happen again.
  5. It's best not to be upset over things you can't change, trolls will be trolls and losing your temper won't stop them. I'm not suggesting you're the type to do this, but the tone of the OP sounds to me like it boils your blood more than you should let it. Making suggestions here is unlikely to fix it but there's no reason not to try. So in that respect I understand your goal. Treat tactivators like I tell scouts to treat objectives; "don't get attached if you have a hard time letting go. Everything falls eventually." Same goes for tacts. Don't rely on them to save the day. Also this In all my time in WvW, I could only count on both hands the number of times I've seen a dedicated troll going out of their way spending hours building siege. And I've been on almost every server NA and about half on EU. Most trolls pull tacts every now and again or throw a couple blueprints on supply depots and that's the end of it. It's incredibly rare that someone(s) actually spends a significant amount of time and effort trying to damage the server.
  6. Gankers aren't inherently bad, they just play worse because they're more confident and less conservative with their skills because they know they have the numbers advantage. It's also not impossible for someone to be better in a group than they are solo. Some players don't know how to manage themselves alone but are good at spotting openings, weak targets, watching allies and opponents cooldowns, etc. which make them strong supports or +1's. It's true that ganking too often will make it more difficult to improve as a solo player but that doesn't mean you can't improve as a group player. And that aside, what does it matter? How many people do you think are roaming or ganking because they want to be the next God of PvP? As far as I'm concerned, most people do it because they have fun doing it and it's as simple as that. Too many people would rather make excuses for why they lost rather than accepting it and trying to understand it. Yes, being outnumbered is a perfectly valid reason for losing, but how did you get outnumbered? If for example you nose dive in to a 1v5, then it's hardly the fault of those who killed you. Just remember that WvW is a team environment. If you prefer to be solo you should know and accept that at times you're going to be dealing with more players than you can handle. Prepare an escape plan, know that a 1v1 may turn in to a 1vX and look inwards to understand your failures rather than outwards blaming others for what you perceive as shortcomings.
  7. That's the thing with community defined rules. They can vary from person to person. I consider this roaming as long as you're doing it alone or with >5 friends. It only becomes havoc when you're deliberately trying to snipe undefended objectives. Trying to take defended objectives, or soloing them, is still roaming to me in the sense that you're trying to pull fights and being a nuisance. I used to do this almost exclusively pre-HoT when I would roam on my trapper Ranger. Soloing towers/camps, destroying siege in towers/keeps and hanging around enemy spawns/keeps was how I roamed. I'm not sure what else that could be called because I've never heard of solo havoc and PPT roaming is pretty much another phrase for it. Also, @"MUDse.7623" might just do the same thing I used to do. It's not about the score, it's about being such a colossal pest that pugs will dedicate a small army to your presence when you become infamous enough. All someone needs to do is say "that ( guild tag/rank/profession here ) is at X tower again" and 10+ people will show up because they hate you. After I stopped trying to solo towers, I became a sniper with Engi Magnet in zergs. I would pull everyone I could manage and would snipe commanders if I had permission from my own. I know lots of people hated it but that's the point. It makes them dedicate players to my presence and it becomes fun for them when they kill me. I don't care if they siege bury me, I have fun being annoying and I know when they finally murder me they're suddenly having fun too. This is a little different than roaming but, to me, a successful roamer is an annoying one. And that can be through various means such as stealing towers/camps, perma-contesting keeps, harassing spawns and forcing multiple players to waste a ton of time chasing you around.
  8. I can't speak for those who do this, and I'm not necessarily putting myself in the "skilled" category but, I often avoid people I respect. When I enjoy fighting someone who was clearly talented, I may avoid them later when I see them fighting other players. Not because I'm "afraid" of them, but because I respect their skill and understand what roaming is like. I don't want to ruin their 1v1/1vX and will instead wait until the fight is finished or move along. It's a way to show that I understand they're good, or better than me, and that if I'm going to fight them I wish to fight them at their strongest. A little like Goku from Dragon Ball! Another reason I may avoid someone is because I know they're the type to be in a group/squad and have friends that will often support them if they're beginning to lose. In this case, I wouldn't say most of these players are skilled but, some of them honestly are. They're just playing to their advantage which really isn't anything to be frowned upon. If I had a guild I'd probably do it too. I don't know the reasons the streamers you speak of may avoid other skilled players, you could be right you could be wrong. The issue a lot of people have is projecting and assuming and applying their standards to others like it's common knowledge. We're all guilty of doing this sometimes. For example, maybe someone /waves at you a few times and it's perceived as trolling because you lost a fight against them earlier. Or like a lot of people say, "they just want to win to boost their ego." Sometimes it's true, sometimes it's perspective. Unless you're speaking to them directly or watching them on a stream, you can only make so many conclusions from their character's body language.
  9. So I have this problem where I hate 98% of heavy armors and also have a habit of frequently changing my styles. With any of the heavy professions, I can't really do that and end up landing on one singular look that I like that I get frustrated with because I can't change it to anything else I'm happy with. Since Revenant is the newest addition to my line up, I've been trying out different races to find which one has the most variety in styles I can play with. As of now, I've tried every race but not quite every gender. I currently have a female Asura and a female Human with male Norn being my favorite thus far. I'll have to share my Asura another time since my Human (which I just made today) is using my Asura's gear. But, I'd like to share my Human right now since I really like how she looks.   10. You won't be hitting this high anymore. Maximum should be at ~44-45kBut only with enemy having 25vulnerability, chill.And you having 25 might. In wvw I never saw it hit more than 12-14k, because you have to gear for some defensive stats. Which will lead to less power or ferocity. The 21k Gravedigger and 26k Executioner's Scythe were both taken less than 4 months ago. The 50k Gravedigger on a WvW NPC lord was taken about the same time. You can still get that high but you need to be full glass and the stars have to align. Meaning you need to be getting a lot of damage buffs from random pugs. Which we all know doesn't often happen since most people just auto attack until it's dead. I usually get around 30 - 35k max on NPC lords after their breakbar is down and that's with a full YOLO build designed for nothing but damage. But every now and again I'll cross in to 40k or higher which is usually when I'm getting some kind of buffs from others.
  11. Thank you very much! I've always gone for a "high class vampire" style with my Necro instead of dark and brooding. In the story I have written for her, it suits the theme. I have always wanted rank specific titles or badges but many people dislike this idea. Though I absolutely understand their reasons, it's still something I dream about. Rank doesn't mean much of anything, especially with how many grinded theirs out in EOTM. I'm guilty of this as well, though I never dedicated myself to doing it like certain players who made it their goal to grind to max. Still, it does show a degree of dedication and I agree with that. Most players who are Platinum or higher have been around for a very long time and have been active in their communities for years. Though of course, some exceptions apply such as those who strictly roam or simply don't have the time to play for hours on end.   12. And a wonderful 5 years it has been.My oldest and most played character (Carmen Stacy) just had her 5th birthday yesterday (December 3rd). Being only 2 months younger than my account, I wanted to celebrate with a thread dedicated entirely to my first favorite profession and the one I truly am at heart - a Necromancer. I remember the days when I would run dungeons and get insta-kicked from every group just for being a Necro.When I would command in EOTM and occasionally lead my zergs to their deaths by juking them with Spectral Walk.Or when Epidemic had infinite range. Necromancer was the first class I truly invested myself in, and with this character, I learned everything I know about the game today. To me, it has the most sentimental value of all my characters and the one I believe the most people from the past would recognize me as. Despite what Necromancer has gone through over the years, it is easily tied with Engineer as my favorite profession, and I'll stick with it to the end.   15. All my characters besides my Revenant are Human. Initially, it was an Asura but, I was never happy with her style. I dislike most heavy armors as is, but trying to make a decent looking Asura was very hard for me. Eventually, I decided to go with Norn and, also decided to make a male which I don't usually do. I'm very, very happy with how he turned out. He is goddamn sexy. Constantly catching myself ogling this hunk of man. Somber Wolf is his name EDIT: PS. How do I link photos directly to my comment?   16. These are my character stats: https://imgur.com/a/FrucnVb I've tried every profession but have a bad habit of deleting characters I don't use. If you add up all the hours of my current characters, I'm missing about 3 - 4k from my total account play time. That's from alts that I've messed around with for a few days and gotten rid of. Just like IRL, I have a tendency to get rid of things I don't use. I'm a bit of a minimalist and dislike clutter. I'm also a completionist and like my characters to be "decked out" with all the goods I could ever need. Doing some of those things, like world completion, maxed inventory slots, all weapons legendary, all armor ascended/legendary, corresponding PvP title (eg. Champion Phantom/Hunter/Legionnaire/Genius, the ones I have), etc. takes a long time and a lot of effort. I do it both because it makes me comfortable and happy with my character(s) and because it helps to prevent me from deleting them if they start to collect dust. My Warrior for example doesn't get played very often, but I have everything "completed" on her so I refuse to get rid of her. Besides the reasons I've listed, I also: Just plain don't like Elementalist or Mesmer. I like Thief but hate myself every time I play it because I'm awful with it. And I find Guardian boring, but don't mind it. EDIT: Also, my Revenant is pretty new, as you can see in the stats there. Right now, I'm considering it a temporary character. Although I'm very much enjoying it, I don't think I like it enough to commit to the character completion. So that may end up another one of my deleted alts.
  17. Since I don't feel that I can say anything that will be constructive enough to matter, I'm just going to state some thoughts and opinions instead. I dislike fighting Deadeyes for similar reasons to what many others feel. The counterplay is heavily lacking and I dislike suddenly being one shot when I am typically very aware of my surroundings, yet still manage to be blind sided. However, I don't mind that they exist as they currently do. I understand the risks I take when I travel alone and I understand that balance is no longer as forgiving as it was pre-expansions. Mind you, balance has never been incredibly good in GW2 to begin with, even "back in the day." It was just less cluttered with less counters to counters, but still as full of cheese and faceroll as it is now.But I digress, WvW is a team sport. There are classes that benefit each other in large scale zergs and there are classes that work together on the fringe of those zergs. If more players formed pick squads with Rangers, Thieves, Mesmers, Engineers, etc. we could see a whole new dynamic to what WvW has to offer. Unfortunately, because zerging is much easier than picking and clouding, we don't often see much of the latter. This leaves Deadeyes, Soulbeasts and other specs that have potential to be great partners, instead floating around by themselves causing trouble for the little ones who've been separated from their herd. It is understandable that so many people dislike fighting Deadeyes due to the feeling of being "cheap shotted" that they frequently instill. But the witch hunt to see them nerfed, and often times Thief as a whole by way of misunderstanding or blanket statements, has to stop. It is not the only spec nor profession that can replace skill with mechanics. It is just the most apparent due to it's design. Some people don't mind it while others see it as an attack on their personal enjoyment of the game. For those who feel it is greatly impeding their fun, I highly suggest giving it an honest try to better understand how it works. If you do so and all your beliefs are confirmed, fine, but I guarantee you'll learn a few things along the way that can help you to fight against it. Anyway, I've gone off track again... My point is that it isn't the only spec to have severe balancing issues. Times change and this is how GW2 is now. If people would prefer to wallow in loathing and nostalgia then they should at least have the courtesy to consider the feelings of others. I have my own bad habits of being opinionated or short tempered so I'm not excluding myself from that last statement.Just have fun and keep trying. Everyone dies, loses and makes mistakes. GW2 still has one of the best combat systems on the market and letting small things ruin it for you because "balance" is just plain silly. If you can't beat something with skill alone, I guarantee you can outsmart it. So use your head or put it in someone's cross hairs.

Name all of them. while I'm not an expert on necro stuff, one majorr thing I can list from ontopp of my head (applies to core necro and reaper) - death shroudwhich is another hp bar ontop of already highest hp pool in the game. scourge replaces that for barrier which is another defensive mechanic. I'd let someone more knowledgeable to list rest of them tho.(but basing on my experience necros in wvw does not seem to have issues surviving when visible, as opposed to thiefs - I once tried no-stealth evade stacked roaming build and guess what - it didn't work)Necro's major design flaw is that it has no scaling defenses. Blocks, evades and Invulnerability can negate an infinite amount of incoming attacks. Health cannot. Although Necromancer objectively has the highest HP if you include Shroud, it means very little when you're dealing with multiple opponents. And at this point in GW2's life, it means very little in general since most things can shred through 50k HP in a couple seconds if you let them. That said, Shroud is most effective when it's used like a shield. Entering it to sponge attacks that aren't worth dodging or attacks that you cannot dodge (because you're CC'd, immobilized, out of endurance, etc.) while remaining offensive with the skills Shroud offers is the appropriate way to use Shroud, rather than just using it to sponge everything. The same can no longer be said of Reaper however since it's Shroud deteriorates more rapidly than a core Necromancer's or a Scourge's Barriers. Besides Shroud and Barrier, Necro has a couple ports like Wurm, Spectral Walk and Sand Swell which are all good defensive skills. Unfortunately, 2 of the 3 require a pre-cast and the third is very easy to interrupt with a short range. Area denial is Necro's strongest defense. You do not want to go toe to toe with a power Reaper and you do not want to face tank a Scourges Shades. Unfortunately, core Necro is severely lacking in this department. Overall, Necro does have defenses beyond HP, but they are all relatively easy to counter. This is why Necro suffers so much when it's solo and why it has such a high skill ceiling despite being a user friendly class. You don't see nearly as many good Necro's as you do other classes because very few people have the patience to push it to it's maximum potential.   19. It has been random spikes for me since before the WvW event started. Maybe a week or so. Every now and then my ping will spike to 500 - 1k for just a couple seconds then it'll go back to normal. Only happens in WvW and doesn't seem to have anything to do with how many players I'm around. Fortunately it doesn't happen all that often but it's enough to piss me off, especially when it happens just as I begin a fight and I either die or lose 90% of my health while I can't do anything. I've obviously considered that this may be an issue on my end since I seem to be experiencing something a little different than some other people are but, I'm also apparently not the only one. So I'm assuming it has something to do with one of the recent patches. This kind of stuff happens sometimes though and seems to usually go away after a little while with nothing said from ANet and everyone forgets about it. So hopefully it gets fixed soon.
  20. This one is beautiful!These are my favorite kinds of looks, where all the colors are flattering to each other and especially when it looks "realistic." Although I often use super bright colors for my Engineer in specific, I tend to aim for something much less flashy on my other characters. A good pallet can really bring an outfit to life and you've done a wonderful job!
  21. Well, out of boredom, I thought I'd go through all my styles and style variations so I could share. Many of these are the same style with key areas recolored. When I make an outfit for a character I like to have certain spots that are easy to recolor to give it a new look without actually changing anything. It saves me Transmutation Charges and still gives it a new taste. But it's also easier said than done, some styles don't accept new color schemes as well as others. All the colors are so flattering to each other it's just pleasant to look at.

Personally, I'm a sucker for big numbers. Others just like to cheese and wall hug. Regardless of your reasoning, it is suboptimal for solo roaming. Even if you're using the double Stone Signet with Marksmanship (which is a waste btw) you're just too glassy to commit to outnumbered fights, which are most of what you find when solo. Yes you can absolutely pull off outnumbered fights as full glass but the issue is that it requires a lot of hard kiting and resetting to gain the upperhand. This could be said with any class but the difference here is that the longer you draw out the fight the greater chance you have of dying. Glass Ranger/Soulbeast excels at killing it's targets quickly. A more durable build is the opposite in that it excels at wearing it's opponents down which is much safer choice. I find the biggest issue I have being full glass is that unless my opponent(s) have next to no range or mobility, either I'll die or be forced in to full defensive mode if I make even one mistake. Of course I can eventually recover if given the time and with proper kiting, but the point is that I can't afford to trade hits and especially in outnumbered fights, you're going to be forced to do that sometimes.
  23. fake. you could just unequib your armor to get those numbers. show video or its fake. No its legit I did it to him.Ranger has enough damage modifiers to do this pretty easily. It's just a gimmick build like the 1 shot Maul build. You blow multiple cooldowns to get numbers like that which means if you know it's coming, you know they've just made themselves extremely vulnerable. It also means they probably only have 1 or 2 defensive skills since they're investing everything in to 1 shot. If you think a 12k Long Range Shot is nuts, check this one out. That said, I was full zerk/Scholar Reaper at the time and I was already heading in to a 2 v 1 fight I was prepared to lose. I hid behind a wall waiting for the 2 Rangers to get close enough to me and I pulled them with Grasping Darkness. At which point I was caught off guard by the sudden downed state when I was only hit once.
