  1. Maybe you guys should like... read the very first post?
  2. It's going to be 500 at minimum, it's not something they can change since it will affect the entire game and there will be an outcry about lower limits for pve, hell there have been requests to increase limits to 1000 over the years. If you tried to limit alliances to like 250 they'll just make one guild and go over the limit anyways, so it's pointless to discuss that part of it. Besides the only real difference maker for any sized guild or alliance is the number of commanders they have and at whatever times.
  3. What for? Alliance is just a group of guilds, they all have their own guild halls and claims still. Current:Server 1. Picked at character creation, can transfer there.Example population consist of:Solo Guild 1, Guild 2, Guild 3, Guild 4, Guild 5, Guild 6, etcSolo players. Change:World 1. Balances population according to alliance/guild/playing stats, can transfer there, remade every 8 weeks.Example population consist of:Alliance of Guild 1, Guild 2, Guild 3.Alliance of Guild 1, Guild 2.Solo Guild 1, Guild 2, etc.Solo players. Every, single, thing, about wvw remains the same, guilds are still separate, you can rep whomever, you can claim whatever with a guild. Guilds can change alliances, you can change who will be your main wvw guild which only determines who you get placed with at world creation. The only addition they may consider is an alliance chat channel. If multiple guilds feel the need to use one "alliance" guild hall and claiming to show their unity, then make a new guild with those members.
  4. They told you it would take some time, longer than any other projects they did, why you all in here complaining 3 months into it?
  5. Someone needs to provide a link because I never seen them mentioning removing any of the maps, nor could they reduce them because there needs to be 3 borderland maps to keep it fair for all 3 sides. The world restructuring is rebalancing the population every 8 weeks, nothing else about wvw is changing.
  6. I see the dev who did the original WvW achievements is still around. :expressionless:
  7. Generally I don't like underwater content.Part of that comes down to the combat, I think maybe if they just removed melee weapons for underwater(move the spear to land weapons) and just kept to ranged weapons it may be better.Movement is also a problem, slowing down character speed always feels like a negative, we have cripple chill immobilize, swimming feels like you have cripple on all the time. Sure it may be more realistic, but it's a game does it have to be?It also messes with a lot of utility skills especially ground targeting skills, some have been tweaked over the years like engineer grenades and necromancer wells, but all would have to be fixed and made usable underwater. Releasing an expansion with mostly underwater content would be a mistake.
  8. They already said they are looking at 500-1000, which they will have to look at closely to see what is appropriate to cap it at so that there isn't another BG or two stacked servers that come from this. We all know you want a super stack server with pugs and guilds, but that isn't healthy for wvw, either go with the changes or not up to you, but there's a way to keep the community together for the most part, BG might not be able to keep everyone because they're twice as big as everyone else, but that's kinda the point of the change. Lastly many players already have a place to call home, and in fact put it above their servers, it's the guilds.
  9. I don't consider those as "test" features, they were new designs on a new map just like desert shrines were. When this is done on new pve maps is it called testing? Keep in mind eotm was designed for much shorter and faster gameplay than regular maps because you weren't suppose to be in there for very long, there was no point to designing them as such. Sure some things were improved and maybe they would be considered for the regular maps in the future but it wasn't a testing ground otherwise the other stuff would have been done in there too, as they were all suggested before eotm became barren due to exp and pip changes.
  10. Honest question, what exactly was tested in there? because everything that was being tested was done in wvw instead like mobile cannons, repair hammers, ppk, no white swords, etc.
  11. Some would just look at that as leeching kills from guilds, since people don't want to join the guilds, probably don't want to join ts, but still want to run with that group anyways. Now for the other part, you know the joining of guilds into an alliance is basically for world creation? So here's how this can play out. Current server communities will probably create a community guild (I would expect this to happen for BG at the very least) so that those random pug players that you see every day, that you talk to every day, can join together when worlds are created. You can make alliances with other BG guilds(which is up to them) to make sure all those players stick together. When the worlds are created your entire alliance will be placed in the same world, then here's what you can do then, drop repping the community guild the entire time thereafter because choosing a wvw guild to rep is only needed at the point of world creation, nothing more. There is a place for everyone, the question is how much effort they want to put into finding that place. Blackgate population has broken wvw, it's great some of you had a great time taking advantage of that and winning over servers, call it skilled play, call it successful community building, call it whatever. Overall it wasn't good for wvw when one server is so out of place compared to the rest. Players want balanced fights, they want balanced populations, they want balanced coverage so that one week you don't feel like fighting 60 man blobs every night to the next week of facing a server that's dead in that same timezone. Your community can stick together, the option is still there, the question is do you all really want to stay together? It's really not going to take much to do so.
  12. lol he told them to go left multiple times and then stacks right.
  13. Eotm was never a test bed, it was a place to play while waiting on 4 map queues.
  14. If pugs don't want to join guilds on their current server, and just randomly joining pug zergs going on, then what does it matter what world they play on? If they are indeed skilled then I'm sure there are guilds that would take them regardless of the other hurdles listed, guilds are always looking for skilled players willing to be part of a team. The question is that "skilled pug" really looking to be part of a community whether that be a fight guild(one that wants skill and expects to follow their gear/spec rules) or a community guild(one that recruits almost everyone and you can play however you want), or are they just looking to jump on for two hours and join the loot train zerg? If it's for the loot train well then the only important thing that will change is the commander, and that already partly happens when relinks are done every 2 months.
  15. Proper Positioning and awareness, whether that be setting up a fight in open areas or chokes, fighting under siege, waiting for a gate to be rammed down, fighting a lord but enemy on the way, always try to keep your group/zerg/squad in a prepared position so you can react to whatever happens, players try to follow the tag so be mindful of where you're standing or rather where you want them to stand. Use what you have, you shouldn't expect to have a full blown front line every fight, learn to use what's available, if you have mostly range classes then try and whittle the enemy down with side pushes, use chokes. Seen plenty of good commanders be able to use a zerg that another commander failed hard with previously, and I've seen commanders fail and just blame their pugs and not take responsibility for their mistakes and learn from it because of their ego, don't be that kitten we have enough of those around.
  16. Sit in SMC and repair walls, it's the participation meta these days, and players are ok with it.If walls are fully repaired then sit on a treb and hit a tower, you can use a penny to hold down your number 1, ez pz.Oh and get a good book out to read or a movie or two to watch in the meantime.
  17. And then it resets in 8 weeks so they can try and do whatever to jig the system, they're just wasting gems for nothing.
  18. A full alliance will not be a biggest part of the population. There will be caps on alliance populations so that you can't just stack every good guild into one alliance.Alliances will also be randomly placed into the worlds just like solo guilds and players so they're not just stacking all the good full alliances into one world. They will be monitoring different statistics/metrics of players to make up the balance of the world, mostly what times you play, your commander time etc. Look at the world creation example image again. Most likely what will happen is they will take the alliances that are full (3 guilds in that image) and placed them first then move to placing alliances with 2 guilds, then they will fill out the rest of the spots with guilds with no alliances and then players with no guilds or alliances. They won't just fill up one world first and then move to fill the next one, that is the point of balancing out the populations. Creating worlds this way gives them a LOT of pieces and options to create a balance population and coverage, unlike links which they do now have enough pieces (servers) to fully make that balanced.
  19. Alliances are only used for the purpose of sorting groups of players to the wvw worlds at their creation every 8 weeks, megaservers are used for everything else. Those who choose a guild in your alliance as their wvw guild will be sorted into the same world as the rest of the alliance, there is no reason to have alliances in any other part of the game, you can all already join each other in the same zones at any time. If you're wanting alliances just for another chat channel might be better off asking for a chat channel across guilds instead. They haven't said if alliances will have a separate channel yet.
  20. But they also ran tanky as hell with boons out the ying yang in t1, like to the point it looks like boon sharing full time again. Game needs more boon strips and not really corruptions, and spread around a bit, not everything should be on necro.
  21. Man this change can't come soon enough, all the servers really need to die and give birth to new worlds, even if they're only 8 weeks at a time. The tier matchups are absolute messes, tier 1 has one server dominating whenever they feel like it on all 4 maps, the other server is afraid to take on that server and just ktrains the weak desert borderland all week while trying not stepping on their big brother toes. Tier 2 is a mismatch of tier 2 and 3 servers every single week, tier 3 is really the same as tier 4 just a matter of who decided to ppt train more that week. Heavy siege usage up and down the tiers now, walk up to t3 keep and you'll just 3-5 trebs and acs firing on as soon as you get there, zergs hiding in t3 structures for points don't want to give up kdr, broken one shot builds in roaming, combat still loaded with red circles and super tanks, I honestly don't know how people are getting any joy in this game mode anymore.
  22. Not sure why this thread is not stickied, it has a lot of important information that should be displayed until alliance format is ready to deploy.
  23. I'm hoping for at least titles, something a little personal to remember the server you were on like Beastgate or Magswag, although titles don't show in wvw so it's kinda pointless. Finishers would be cool too, perhaps one like the guild flag finisher showing the abbreviated name or icon of that server, like BG SoS MAG YB JQ etc. Or unique Backpieces like the guild one or banners like the ones that came out with pof with abbreviated server names or icons on them.
  24. There will be world names, just not the names we currently have. The concept is no different than changing world links every 8 weeks, you get new team mates then, some guilds move around, new people to meet and play with, while still playing with old team mates in alliances or guilds. It's still entire worlds vs another world, it's still probably going to be the 1u1d system not the glicko one, and they'll probably start giving out rewards for actually winning since populations and coverage should be more even and they can start to treat the 8 weeks as a season. The other part you are talking about is the the social aspect of it, you don't know every player on your server, sorry you just don't, if a random player asks for help and whether or not you give them help based on their name is up to you. Some of you need to get over your long term hatred, seriously, just because you think someone might be on an enemy server in 8 weeks you won't help them now while they're on your server? That's pretty ridiculous. Oh look Lebron is going to be a free agent and probably going to the lakers, guess his team mates won't bother giving him anymore passes in the meantime. Server loyalty became less important years ago when the defense of home borderlands broke down, HoT upgrades and desert borderland making wvw just as much of a desert broke that, a lot of cooperation between players and guilds and commanders came down to that, people had pride in defending their side. Guilds and players also broke out of the illusion of points meaning something, of wins for a server meant something when all it came down to was coverage netting you wins, not skill, not when your efforts meant nothing because some people overnight racked up the score and you couldn't recover. People are always more loyal to their guild and friends over their server these days. Server loyalty is a dead concept, server play styles however is still a thing like BG being the ultimate ppt server still heavily using scouts and defending as much as possible to win these days, YB still being one of the heavy seige using servers, Mag still being a heavy fight server, these styles will die with the new system. People still hate playing against certain servers because of their play styles, not because of people on them, hell I don't even hear server names as much in call outs, it's always the color, blue zerg attacking garri, because of the stupid nameplate changes we're all just colored dots to some people, so who cares if someone turns out to be your enemy in 8 weeks anyways.
  25. It's still world vs world vs world, since all they're doing to repopulating worlds every 8 weeks with alliances/guilds/players.Everything else is the same just without link worlds.
