  1. First, I do not think this would even be possible due to the differences in the armor(s) themselves, so this is sort of a moot point atm. Second, as I too sorta dislike the statement "simply, yes", and this poll requires both sections to be filled out, I will not cast my vote in either case. However, it is an interesting idea, if not viable at all. Having the ability to use all the armor as Skins only does sound fairly cool to me, as having more "costume" options is always a good thing, BUT if it also included the armor's stats as well, then hell no lol. Tis an interesting idea, but the bottom line is that it is not really doable atm. so kudo's on the thought if anything OP. 🙂
  2. That is a good suggestion @Biziut.3594. I myself am FAR from being even a "good" player in WvW imo (the mileage may vary though lol), but even I have done that. @Towndrunk.9562, just choose a WvW zone where the side you are on is really owning the place, go to that zone and "farm" camps and such for a while. After some time, and with a little patience, you will find that you'll get all the pieces. Just a friendly suggestion though. 🙂
  3. While that may have been true in the past, this is a new day so to speak. 🙂 What I mean is, with their newfound focus on the game itself, and their new purposed schedule, that attitude might have changed a bit. And accordingly, just because SotO is now "finished" based on their decisions in the past, doesn't mean that has not, or will not change. After all, the weapons we use in our classes have been set since like, forever, but look... all of a sudden they are making added adjustments to it now (e.g: Giving us new'ish weapons to use). So while it is nowhere near guaranteed that this will happen (as I said, we'll have to wait and see if they are true to their stated plans, generally speaking), they still might add stuff to the Wizard's Vault when it is all said and done. 🙂 Whether we like the "possible" additions or not is another is another debate of course too, but I for one am willing to see what will happen when it is all said and done. Time will tell. Until then however, I am willing to give them the benefit of the doubt for now, for all I (we) can do is just wait and see and hope for the best. After all, they have never shown what their future plans are specifically, so until proven differently, I'll just be patent and see what happens. So as my Father used to say, hope for the best, but plan for the worst. 😉
  4. I hear ya OP, and emphasize with your view on the dailies. It can get quite repetitive, and certainly not generally fun compared to how the dailies used to be (at least for some). However, consider this.... The Wizard's Vault was introduced with the new expansion, and relatively speaking, that makes it still very, very new. As such, I expect that more (e.g: different) content will be added to it eventually, if not "soon". Especially seeing the powers that be have a newfound focus on the game now, as noted by their proposed new game schedule. So if that is true (we will have to see if it is or not), then I have at least some faith that even the Wizard's Vault's daily content will be added to eventually. Heck, maybe even with some of the dailies that used to be with the old system. 🙂 So while you have some good points, I would just suggest having patience and see what happens in, say, a year's time. If nothing is added to it to make it more varied, then yeah, something should be done about it "fast". If not... 🙂 But then again, that's only my two cents here... 😉
  5. A couple spring to mind actually... * One that involves a number of deaths a character has when solo. 🙂 Ya know, to give something to very bad players and super new players as well to cheer about lol. Though, this might be better as an achievement. 🙂 * One that is given for doing a total map completion for a zone without using any mounts or gliding at all (especially for really had zones). 🙂
  6. Personally I'd rather them temporarily (that being the operative word here) disable this feature to fix a very bad bug due to it, than just never do anything about it and so cause it to be (mostly) unplayable, period. With many games, especially one this old, Dev's would just let it stay as is as they have other priorities in mind, so imo I for one am thankful that the Dev's care enough about the game (and us) to fix things that are broken... even if it cause a minor, and temporary inconvenience. So good job Dev's; keep up the good work. 🙂
  7. Hey, welcome to a fantastic game with a great community! 🙂 As always, there are many great suggestions given here, though I might add to also watch some YouTube vids on Gw2 occasionally whenever you either feel like it or have some spare time. They are quite helpful, and totally enjoyable, and those I might suggest (though not limited to) are those made by MukLuk, Caffeinated Dad, and others. Though do try and avoid those vids which show the storyline of the game (generally speaking), unless of course you like spoilers. 🙂 And of course, never be afraid to asking anything, as this community is quite friendly and helpful to new players with questions. And also always remember to pay it forward and simply enjoy the game. 🙂
  8. Well, that's at least good news @Marss.1460, about how you filled your Steam Wallet. Sadly, Arnet and Steam really don't like each other, so these type of things can happen (how regularly I do not know). And again unfortunately, due to their continual disagreement with each other, more than likely when (and if) you write a support ticket to Arnet, they will tell you to just contact Steam... again. From experience, and from what I have heard from others, both companies don't like to deal with any issue regarding the other at all, so they pass the buck as it were, which seems to be the case here sadly. 😞 Please try though, and let us know what happens.
  9. I to use my Steam Wallet to buy gems from the game, and so far I have had no issue (as of roughly 2-3 weeks ago). As @Chaba.5410 said, you do need the Steam Overlay turned on for any funds from your Steam Wallet to be removed for Gems, however when I did have an issue (long ago), it involved buying a Gem card. It seems that Arnet will not accept Gem cards used in conjunction with Steam, as Steam & Arnet do not see eye to eye on things in that regard.. So, if the OP got funds from a Gem Card and used them to fill his/her Steam Wallet, Arnet will not honor it I am afraid.
  10. Actually, I just remembered something... There was that incident when I overheard a small child beg Warmaster Yosif (who is guarding a door in the Vigil Keep, located in the North East corner of Gendarran Fields) to help out the Vigil by sweeping floors and such. And when he basically said no, the kid said he would give up most(?) of his rations so he could help out. In response, Yosif was so impressed that he told the kid that maybe he could help out by cleaning some weapons. 🙂 So as you can see, in this war torn violent land of Kryta, kids of all ages very much know how dangerous the world is, and are into weapons big time. And that doesn't even take into account kids who are Norn or Char, which have been known to say that they want to grow up to be the fiercest warriors in the world. The bottom line here is that in this game, kids love weapons (generally speaking) and want to fight against such things as the Dragons who are threatening the world's very existence, and those they love and admire. So in this world, gift wrapped toy swords are perfectly understandable, if not desired by the orphans (again, generally so). Besides, when was the last time anyone heard or saw any in game kid ask for a Smartphone, Toy Train, Game Console, Doll, or PC... 😉
  11. I see, and personally I can emphasize with you with RL things going on. So I have a joke for you too... 🙂 "Let go of the mouse, and step away from the keyboard slowly..." 😛 Cause it is just a game after all. Ohhh, and then go watch some Loony Toons... Oh, wait... 😉
  12. Just waiting for this to happen... 😉 SS-Rank...
  13. Wow... Sorry to the OP, but this has to be a joke right? Right??? I mean, really...
  14. While your concerns are a bit valid OP, I do have a question... What Dungeons are you specifically referring to? I myself have soloed two such Dungeon's in Story Mode a few times with more than one than one character, and I am nowhere near a top player at all. Besides that though, some of the above suggestions are a great way to go, especially involving joining a Guild. As was also said, Gw2 has a great community overall, and if you ask for help doing a Dungeon "slow and easy", I am sure some will be more than happy to help you out; especially a good Guild you'd join (one that is new player friendly). Like I have said a few times, good communication goes a long way in solving many a issue. Will you always get what you want? Nope, not at all. But like the old song say's, sometimes you'll get what you need. 🙂
  15. Again, to clarify more simply if this hasn't been referred enough here already in regards to one's own gameplay, knowledge is power. Power to improve your gameplay, power to stay the same, power to just be informed, power to instead make a peanut butter sandwich, etc. ArcDps does not automatically make you a better player (or play the game for you), nor does it alter any in-game files. It just gives you more info on your game play, and yes others too when you team up, allowing you to make choices. The freedom to choose whether you wish to improve your game play, or not. "You still have to do the work to improve, if that is what you wish. So using ArcDps is cool in my book. In regards to using it to scope out how other players are doing when teaming, and perhaps kicking them for not meeting the teams and/or "your" standards, well that is totally another topic, not to mention a personal choice as well. But banning ArcDps for just giving players more info is a non starter really (for me at least), because that imho is a silly argument. Cause like I said, knowledge is power... to improve, or not... it's your choice. However, after reading some of the replies here, I'm also thinking we need a bit of related humor to at least lighten things up here, not to mention put this into perspective (we can be a silly species that gets hung up on things after all 😁). Enjoy... At this point, damage meter would be nice... If DPS meter bad then why hot?
  16. Ya know OP, this all comes down to communication and respect I feel. While I myself mostly play PvE for fun (though I did just get my Warclaw! Whoot! 😁), I am also a very big team player who will back the team I am on as best I can. And if I am playing a character who I know wouldn't bring the best to the team, then I will happily switch to something more suited to the team dynamics if possible. This is why communication is so important. Imo, I feel it's always best to tell any prospective team if you are "new" to what the team will be doing, building a character you'd like to play, or just plain new to the game itself. Because quite frankly, ArcDps or not, when on a team it is always your responsibility to not mess up the team with whatever goal they want to achieve, even if it's totally unintentional. Fun is fun, and that is really the name of the game here. But, when on any team, it's also about supporting the team as best you can. And that means respect and communication (on both sides I might add). I know I am not the best player there is (far from it lol), nor can I build or even play the best builds around. But despite wanting to have fun with a awesome team, if I am only doing 2k damage, while most others are doing FAR more than me, I will not be upset at all if I am asked to leave (though being blindly kicked without any explanation will hurt, and is so not respectful). So have fun, build the best most fun builds you can make, use ArcDps (it IS a good tool after all), ask to be on many teams if that's your thing, and communicate & support the team as best you can as well. Play how you want to play (respectfully though), but always try to remember that others will do the same. And if "my" square peg of a character doesn't quite fit into a round peg of a team, that's also ok too. Because it is just a game and there are always other teams to play with when it is all said and done. 😉
  17. lol... 🙂 Boy I hope not! I certainly don't want to get in trouble for using my Griffin to get somewhere, only to slam into a tree by pilot error... 😉 P.S: Stupid Tree... 😛
  18. No argument intended or inferred. 🙂 Just good old fashion discussion and debate, and of course clarification on what is/what was meant is all. Still don't quite understand "questionable use of mechanics", as that is a matter of conjecture whether true or not (so long as it isn't against the ToS of course, then shame on that person lol). Didn't take into account the AFK part that @Dayra.7405 mentioned, which is also a good point I might add. Personally, I like exploring and opening up the map as much as the next person, but just being AFK and letting someone else do it for me just seems boring as hell to me. One or two Waypoints is one thing, but doing it a ton of times just seems like... why play the game at all, ya know? 😉
  19. You make a very valid point there, but I do not exactly understand your logic. Please define the term "exploiting mechanic's". In the history of gaming, players have always discovered ways' to use established in game mechanics to do things that the Dev's never even thought of. Combo's being a great example of this. Dev's don't know everything after all, and while they may have "intended" such mechanic to be used in a certain way, it is a Dev with very little game experience to believe such things don't, or shouldn't happen. Creativity by the players is a great thing after all, and that should be applauded, not frowned down upon. Is hacking not cool, and should be prevented as much as possible? Of course. But in my experience at least, there is really no such thing as a exploitable mechanic IF said mechanic was put into a game by the Dev's themselves. It just comes down to how a player wants to play a game, and use a established mechanic is all. That's one of the things that make Gw2 so great right? Play how you want to play. So long as it is not against the ToS, and is not a "hack", then it's just personal preference on the player in how they want to play the game. So while you make some good points, the exploiting mechanic comment still confuses me. After all, people who play Mesmer's are able to TP people to Waypoints, Masteries, and such, which I would assume not all Dev's thought would happen, nor even "intended" it to be used as such. Is that a exploiting mechanic? Nope. That's just creative use of an established mechanic is all... 🙂
  20. Some very good points said here all around in my view, though I "think" having Arnet using a program to detect speed hacking, and the Turtle being flagged as such by "accident", is more the case. Turtle's have been used like this for quite a while now with no issue at all (same with chairs which are mounts, as has been said as well), so perhaps this is a new'ish program Arnet is now using these days. I myself hope so, because if this isn't the case, it's a big shift in what they consider breaking the rules of the ToS. Communication is key here, as always, and so I will be very interested in hearing a reply from them here in the coming week (as yeah, they more than likely don't work "much" on the weekends). However, if they don't respond to this thread/concerns, openlly & with transparency, that too will be a reply of sorts as well... and not a good one. For like in RL, whenever there is a lack of communication, everything can go to crap very quickly. 🤔
  21. Thank you everyone for your replies and comments... 🙂 Having tested a few builds and doing more research, I have actually come up with a fairly good one (for PvE at least) that not only reduces my pets to just Flesh Golem, but also makes strict use of the Signet's as well (the l abilities that function while in shroud... other than the pets of course). With this build, I am able to stay in Shroud form for as long as I want so long as there are enemies to feed off of. In fact, last night during a solo Lab run, I was able to stay in Shroud form for nearly 10 minutes straight, and even stand toe to toe against Steve for several minutes without being killed (though of course I couldn't kill him at all lol). So here is the build I am currently testing out... http://gw2skills.net/editor/?PSxAYtjlRwuYYMN2IO6SerWA-zxIU1omvQAkjIBqoGUcAA-e Now as I still do not have any access to any of the Elite Specializations as of yet (though I am 4 pts away from being able to activate one... which one should I try out first btw?), and I only use Staff & Scepter/Dagger (as I can't stand Warhorn... sorry), and am only using Celestial gear, I am sort of limited in what I can create atm. However, as I am still interested in doing Dungeons, Strikes, and Raids (I have no real interest in PvP yet, and Fractals are way beyond me atm too), I am trying to figure out some builds to use in them with the parameters I have listed above. So what do you all think of this "new" build I put together? In OW it seems to be good, especially against many enemies, but what about Dungeons? Strikes? Raids? Do any of you think "this" build has a better chance in doing them at all? I am still open to suggestions, and thank you very much for the ones you have given already (as well as the builds therein), so I am interested in hearing what you have to say. Thanks again, and as always, Without the Wax... Peace...
  22. You can (and should) do it!!!😁 Peace...
  23. Greetings all... 🙂 I am writing because I was wondering what you all might think about my Base Necromancer build atm, and specifically how you think it would do & hold up in various formats. Here is the current build for Nina Shadowshade, my very fun base Necromancer... Gear (All Exotic) * Celestial Wraith Masque of the Necromancer * Celestial Acolyte Mantle of the Necromancer * Celestial Coat Mantle of the Necromancer * Celestial Acolyte Gloves of the Necromancer * Celestial Acolyte Pants of the Necromancer * Celestial Acolyte Boots of the Necromancer Trinkets (All Exotic) * Celestial Backpack Strap of the Sky * Charged Quartz Orichalcum Earring of the Sky * Charged Quartz Orichalcum Earring of the Sky * Charged Quartz Orichalcum Amulet of the Sky * Charged Quartz Orichalcum Ring of the Sky * Charged Quartz Orichalcum Ring of the Sky Weapons * Primary (Exotic) * Celestial Pearl Quarterstaff (With the Final Rest Skin atm) * Secondary (Both Exotic) * Celestial Green Wood Scepter of Force * Celestial Bronze Dagger of Force Build * Death Magic (1/1/1) * Flesh of the Master * Necromantic Corruption * Death Nova * Blood Magic (3/3/1) * Lesser Signet of Vampirism * Vampiric Presence * Blood Bank * Soul Reaping (3/2/1) * Speed of Shadows * Vital Persistence * Eternal Life Pets (5 of them) * Blood Fiend * Shadow Fiend * Bone Minions * Bone Fiend * Flesh Golem So, what do you all think of this build? And more specifically, do you think it would be good in WvW, Raids, Strikes, and finally Dungeons? She has done extremely well vs PvE world bosses and content (Svanir Shamon Chief, The Fire Elemental, and Shadow Behemoth... which she would take hardly any damage against them... without buffs or heals for the most part too), but as I am thinking about running her threw some of the other content types as well (specifically WvW, Strikes, and Dungeons atm) I was wondering if you think she would be at the very least "passable" in them? Also, as I have yet to unlock any of her Elite Specializations (I am working on it though), do you see any room for improvements as well? Thank you in advance, and I look forward to hearing what you have to say about this... Peace...
  24. Thank you for the reply @Danikat.8537, and thank you for the link as well (that is most useful). Currently I only have 18 Laurel's, and from what I understand they are relatively hard to get en mass, and as far as Map Currencies goes, well I do not exactly have much experience with those as well. I have also not done any of the Living World stuff, so again I have little experience with them too. Also currently my Ranger has: Rampagers Spineguard of Coral, Army Badge, Powerful Ring, and Rampager's Ring (all rare), and no Earrings to speak of. So getting any ascended gear (such as Trinkets at the least) is sort of beyond my reach atm sadly, so again are there any good Exotic, yet fairly cheap Trinkets I can buy off the TP? At least until I can develop enough funds given lots of time to upgrade things to Ascended gear/weapons. I do understand your point about going for Ascended stuff, but atm that is beyond my wallet sadly... hence my continued question. 🙂 Peace...
  25. Hiya folks, quick (hopefully) question here... I have basically just finished getting my main Ranger set up with some exotic gear and weapons for the most part, and am now focusing on the six trinkets which can be slotted as well (I hope those six are what they are called). However, I am running into a bit of a snag as other than the gear/weapons, I really have no idea what I can get for them, that are both cheap" and effective. On my other two lvl 80's (a Necromancer & Mesmer), I have slotted them with the following: * celestial backpack strap of the sky * charged quartz orichalcum earring of the sky * charged quartz orichalcum earring of the sky * charged quartz orichalcum amulet of the sky * charged quartz orichalcum ring of the sky * charged quartz orichalcum ring of the sky But when looking at the TP, not only can I not find the Backpack at all, all the rest range from 17-19 gold each, which atm would total 93 gold (which is way beyond my gold amount sadly 😞). So here is/are my question(s)... Can anyone recomend a good, fairly cheap set of effective exotic trinkets I can get for my Ranger please? As my other gear focuses mainly on Berserker stats, I was thinking along the lines of these six pieces focusing on vitality, stability, and anything else which could increase my Ranger's survivability & longevity (though I am not opposed to any other suggestions too as I have very little experience in slotting these six pieces). Atm I am just running a basic longbow/greatsword build, without any Elite Specializations for now if that helps any. Thank you for your help in advance, and as always... Peace...
