  1. When pugs follow a guild raid commander they can see on the map, they will get told to kitten off. That's even worse for the morale, isn't it? Not only your contribution is ignored but downright not wanted. Someone being rude in chat doesn't stop someone from playing. Now I never tell people how to play or what to do with their squads, but I see this as bad for the game mode for both sides. If pugs have nobody to follow, they will lose interest and leave. This leaves less recruits for guilds to keep themselves active, and leads to less fights for everyone. It would be good to look at the reasons public commanding is so unpopular. Not only commanding but also scouting and PPT roaming. I would argue on lack of a common goal. It got removed when world linking was introduced. ANet decides the outcome of matchups, not players. With no reason to win a matchup players make goals of their own: top KD ratio, wipe that other guild group, defeat someone in duel, guild missions, ganking stragglers, whatnot. When those side goals are the only content other players feel unwanted.server pride died with seasons. with the exception of BG. everyone else figured out we lost cuz we didn't buy enough off hour guilds or guilds in general for server pride before player hour caps were implemented.
  2. thanks for proving the point. now are they lazy or just incompetent?
  3. Just means the 30 roamers have an opportunity to step up to the plate. out of the 30 roamers on the server, probably only 5 are useful enough to contribute to some form of team play. the other 25, the most useful call out you'll get from them is "hallpp they on lords!!"
  4. It has been about fights since forever.Back in the days PPT was only done to climb in tiers and have fights against certain servers that the community you were within, had interest in fighting against.=>nah you just transferred up to a glicko lock tier. =>the large scale fights for an objective made it popular. the lolligagging around said objectives was just as detrimental to wvw as the ktraining of the same tower or keep. the commanders just became more lazy or incompetent (myself, more lazy).
  5. The first part of your response was actually a very good argument. 581 players for a "competitive wvw guild!" wow that's impressive! lolololol
  6. why would you merge 8 guilds that couldn't hack it into 1 giant one? on a new game that probably won't be able to hack it either?
  7. Those people don't play much in T1 because as I explained, they hate BG's play style. Why do so many NA servers universally hate "fighting" BG? Is it because BG is simply that good? Please...this isn't that complex of a game. It's because of how that server plays. The same reason they hate bandwagoners. Cuz no one likes getting their ass beat!
  8. 90% of a server's population are fairweathers. You'll have a queue and outnumber an opponent when you don't have a trash commander and more competent pugs than the opposing side. If you're outnumbered in your time zone. You can ask yourself, 1) is the commander I'm following trash? 2) are the people around me trash? 3) am i trash? and you'll understand why you'll have numbers depending on matchups.

  10. good old t4 where we flip t3 keeps, towers, camps, garrison, and even SMC with 12 or less people: no one comes to defend b/c the other servers are dead at that time. conversely, the same thing happens to us when our 16 hour dead zone comes about. ya, when i play there is barely anyone around which isn't much fun. but that's just me. Why do players care about a timezone they don't play? Do they magically become some elite player when they transfer to a higher tier carried by players they don't even associate with? A piece of trash is still a piece of trash no matter what dumpster it's in.
  11. The top 3 actual reasons why tags run invisible: 1) they don't want the server knowing they failed to defend an objective2) they don't want the server kowing they failed to take an objective3) generate a perception that they are doing anything useful in wvw when they really aren't. 1 2 3 presuposes they want to ppt. if that premise is wrong, then the conclusion isnt set. =) we need fight guilds. we need them to keep people off the structure. If a fight guild dies in a forest and doesn't make a sound. Did it really fight?

  13. the problem isn't the algorithm, it's that the population doesn't understand the algorithm. Then putting in their 2 cents of brilliance or an even less feasible solution. could it be fine tuned? yes. can it measure fairweather incels and their moods? no.
  14. delete players that have transferred more than 3x in the past year please. t3/4 is fine.
  15. t4 is pretty popping. perhaps delete accounts that have transferred more than 3x this past year would solve the issue.
  16. They never killed WvW, just T1. Which impacted WvW negatively because people started tanking in T2 just to avoid blackgate - a long time ago, and this still happens all the time. Nobody wants to fight a server that is active 24/7 and only fights under siege/tower buffs, and is basically unstoppable due to them receiving strong links for god knows what reason. So nobody wants to be in T1 because you literally CAN NOT win.Not many people want to be in T2 because IF YOU WIN, you will be punished by blackgate and then have to tank in T2 the next week once you realize what's good for youNot many want to be in t3/t4 because half their players couldn't tell their kitten from their head So I can see why some might say BG had something to do with the current state of WvW and why everyone is leaving ... This sounds more like those that couldn't beat BG couldn't tell their ass from their head regardless of tier. If you were a pleb in t4 and transferred to t1, did you gain some magical aura of wvw game play that makes you better?
  17. Could the BG war council contact me please. my guild is ready to beat the game. leave the gates opened. I've already sent a representative to your server to start claiming towers/keeps for the realm
  18. OP is not from BG. But yeah.. And as a side note, people have been telling people to bandwagon fairly constantly. Oh, they note ‘well we need to transfer to play with our friends’ or some variant. To claim this is new is naive at best, disingenuous at worst. I can vouch for OP. he's had his alt there since beta.
  19. Pointless self promotion stunt for long gone guilds. /shrugs-- if he wanted to pointlessly self promote for active guilds. our guild would probably be the only one on the list.
  20. As far as the thread at large goes, I'd say we already have the preferrable way to measure guilds up - that is the tournaments. Having more of a leaderboard risks sucking fun out of it by adding in unecessary attrition and/or endless lawless bickering. I remember when people tried doing leaderboards in vanilla. There were always some groups arguing over if something was just a skrim or an "official GvG". It was so common that it is still today something veterans refer to ironcally. It wasn't much of an argument:1) If you win = gvg2) if you lose = scrim
  21. I think he was looking for something objective but I could be wrong It clearly is objective. It isn't, and half the guilds on the list don't even exist anymore. And 50% 60% 70% of those guilds are run by toxic and selfish commanders. Yes, the number keeps increasing because of the spread of 'meta only' cancer. If we have an official listing, the amount of salt and toxicity will reach unimaginable levels.would you happen to be a fan of britney spears by chance?
  22. WvW is the most competitive game mode in gw2. Guilds rise and fall within months. Other's take their ball from the court and advocate for different game modes or rulesets to advocate their inferiority.
  23. I think he was looking for something objective but I could be wrong It clearly is objective. It isn't, and half the guilds on the list don't even exist anymore.over half the guilds that existed at the beginning of link don't exist anymore either. but we still reminisce about their wvw prowess
  24. It's not why are we full that by the way could be a right of every player to understand. It's more the interest in understanding and a normal transparency need. For example do they calculate for the population also the PVE players ? Someone says yes , other says not. If we as community know what are the criteria we can suggest also solution for balancing and have all more fun. I want transparency too but I doubt we will ever get it. No PVE has no impact at all. Only hours played in WvW. Transfers are what ruin this mode. NA dealt with that problem a long time now since changes EU will too and you have already seen the death of Kodash and the rise of Dzagonur as next relink I bet Kodash loses host and becomes a link and Dzagonur is left alone as a host w/o a link but we will see. Are you sure about ? That PVE population has no impact ? Where is written ? That's why I am asking the criteria because if we all know , we can look and suggest how to balance. Personally , I do believe they count the PVE population somehow. It has been said. look it up or just face the reality that the people you surround yourself with in wvw are just crap.
