  1. Im confused with this way of thinking. Of course people want to be over powered in PvE. It’s flipping PvE, you’re talking like you’re rank 1 PvP. Calm down. Yes 68k DPS is pretty extraordinary, but it’s PVE, people should value time and efficiency over “D” measuring contests on Arc DPS.
  2. I’ll keep this short. Before this recent forum change, when on mobile, I used to be able to scroll to the bottom of the gw2 forums page and there was a button to press to take me all the way back up to the top. Now I have to scroll or well.. (swipe down on my phone) to go back up to the top. It’s very minor but annoying! Bring back the “top of the page” button on mobile please 🙂
  3. Yes I remember the good ole days with CS and initiative on crit. That was most definitely abused, but at this point now with how they changed Shadow rejuv, I think it’s okay to bring that back. Ugh. That would bring some nice theory crafting with build which involve S/X. Honestly if they brought back that trait, a lot of our current issues with preparedness would cease to exist. ( Not saying that it would completely nullify the issue ) It definitely was a strong and utility bound trait. I really hope they give us back some type of resource to generate initiative, or just in general revert those absurd and expensive initiative costs.
  4. Thanks for the responses guys, I do appreciate the interaction. Just like you guys I believe in the reverting or atleast lowering down of ini cost to weapons. This would be beneficial to the class and I am hoping Anet will wise up and see that this class is based around a resource that is heavily neutered at this point. Build diversity is definitely lacking. I remember when people used to run shortbow builds, some builds were memey acrobatic evasive builds and others were very strong with their cluster bomb DPS and mobility, but now with this ini cost increase using anything but auto attack is super cumbersome. I remember when D/D power was also a thing and yes I do understand Shadow arts was GM was alot stronger but there was build diversity. It wasn’t just D/P meta (although D/P has always been meta historically) and the very reason some thieves (not saying all, and definitely not supporting the play style) but some camp stealth to recover initiative. I wonder what crazy builds would sprout if Anet gave like 50% or 75% faster ini regeneration when Thieves don’t take Trickery line. I again know it’ll NEVER happen but it just makes me wonder if they’ve ever thought about giving (non trickery core thieves) faster ini recovery generation.
  5. Yeah I totally like that idea. When I was writing this I was also thinking more like a utility type of rune set. It definitely couldn’t be overbearingly broken with absurd amounts of power/condi but I was still curious what others would have concocted. Maybe the 4th bonus instead of 10s be reduced to 5s from your suggestion, or would that be too much you think?
  6. Just throwing this out there. Since Anet seems to want to simultaneously reduce dmg as well as increase initiative cost on weapon skills with this recent balance patch. Which historically isn’t a new thing. A community complains enough and then anet feels obligated or compelled to oblige and hand out the nerfs. However It always seem to involve Thief Initiative and without any trade offs too. (better initiative generation and gain.) So this is just a shot in the dark. What would you guys say if there was a rune for initiative. It was just in my mind and I wanted to write a thread on it. I’m just curious what you guys think the rune’s 1-6 piece should be? Whether it’s Power, Condi, Vitality, etc. What would your 6th piece be? I’m just curious. I know this rune would NEVER come to fruition.
  7. I’ll keep this short and sweet. - Most people like myself, don’t like the RNG of obtaining this new infusion being so abysmally low. Possible Solution- Make those dragon eyes a gem-store skin(you’d make tons of money), since a lot of people love the design of the eyes. But here’s the thing, the gem-store version will be in place of your active head gear, so people would lose out on potentially pairing the eyes up with different head pieces. Whereas the dragon eyes that drop as infusions will work as any other infusion. You can put it in your headgear and use both your active and unique headgear in combination with the dragon eye infusion. EDIT: And for the gem store skins, you can add different variations. 1 skin can be (double frost) the other (double flame) another combination can be frost (left eye) and flame (right eye). ANET could make tons of money, any thoughts guys?
  8. Scared of water thieves huh 😂 well I guess you’ve got a point. But don’t be scared of harpoon thieves, spear thieves are the true underwater menace’s and King of the water.
  9. Seeing this thread live for 12 pages is annoying. I don’t know why this is still a top 3 thread. ( me bumping it to 1) but it just doesn’t make sense why people continue to talk about this. The same things have been said over and over. ANET will not gut stealth any further than they already have. They gave thieves evasion in the form of DrD, (Staff Jump 3 meta) but people had an uproar about that and honestly… understandable, because (staff jump 3) WAS aids, but the community still got upset because they couldn’t catch or touch us even when being able to SEE us, since utilizing stealth with that setup wasn’t really necessary and defeated the purpose of using staff and being a acrobatic DrD. Oh and don’t get me started on the ACRO trait line, that anet has since gutted. “There is too much evasion on land and too much evasion underwater for thieves”, this is also another thing I hear all the time. Too much stealth, too much evasion, too much mobility, too many ports (not to mention portal). What do you want from a medium armor, low base hp, high risk, high reward type of class. (and yes Thief is a high risk type of class, to those arguing there’s very low risk to thief game play, play one) I hate to be that guy to say this, because I hate saying this rhetoric but this is a L2P (learn to play) issue. People Fear what they cannot see. People Complain about what they do not know. Potentially our new specialization could be in the form of a boon spec, what’s it going to be then? Thief can generate too many boons as well as steal and take them away?
  10. People fear what they cannot see
  11. There will just be another thing to cry about."We have too much access to reveal" nerf Thief That banter being said, I do like the direction of this suggestion. I haven't as yet read everything yet, just wanted to give an initial first look reaction in terms of the picture and it's skills and such. I will circle back around after reading everything. Hopefully there can be some nice bumping for this thread, and good discussion.
  12. I've always liked wurm runes but the interactivity with brawler runes, as well as the fact that no one really uses the runes so that's twice as appealing to me, haha.
  13. Yeah I am still trying to tweak things, but i'm stuck at the moment
  14. EDIT: https://imgur.com/a/GyX0R5QThese are the stats I was talking about. The crit chance is low, but I am CS line, and constantly have (20% extra crit chance with fury), However I do have 100% crit chance in stealth via CS Grandmaster trait. The build needs more tweaking, the damage output is absolutely insane, my vaults can 100% to 30%/20%hp people my backstabs are just as lethal. When i'm not in stealth my auto attacks hit pretty decent as well, due to never being below 13-15 stacks of might in combat and fury gives me decent crit rate as well out of stealth. EDIT: With 25 bloodlust stacks and 25 stacks of might (which i can generate by myself), if I have a target that can tank that many auto attack hits (WvW tower lord NPCs), I can generate 4k power. With regular players I stay within the 10-15might stack realm and around 3400-3600 power range. EDIT: The build sounds nice and does output nice damage but there are definite drawbacks. I'll create a build editor alittle bit later. But as I said before, the build is incomplete, and still needs tweaks. I am just stumped at the moment with which direction to go. EDIT: http://gw2skills.net/editor/?Pa1AYhrlNwuYbMQGJWSXntaA-zVhYbRgIG09ZYHRdCpQaKUDMpatCk9jEG/to/CG-wBuild editor stats and my actual stats are alittle off i'm not quite sure why. But you can compare my picture and the build editor.
  15. Yeah CS is definitely underrated. But i've been making like a "super build" that encompasses everything. What I do wish the CS line had was more defensive utility. Like a stealth or aegis or stun. Something. Stat wise my build is great and putting it into action it's pretty crazy to fight, but the initiative toll it has as well as the lack of utility is very concerning to me. But the damage and the damage that I can tank is crazy. I could take a picture of the stats and post it here soon.
  16. I've been working on a CS/Tr/Drd Staff- DP build3k Power (without Bloodlust or might)/2.9k Armor/ 19k HP/ 100% crit chance (in stealth)/ 208 ferocity-Ability to generate 4k power via 25 stacks BL and might stacks-The build generates might and you'll never be below 10-15 stacks of might or without fury in an encounter while fighting-The build is still a work in progress. It works well and hits damn HARD, but still need to make some adjustments. Future montage involving this build in the future :) Enjoy below.
  17. What in the uplevel armorless light armor elementalist did I just see. 15k shadowshot 0_0
  18. I've noticed it upon my return to the game, and I was like um.. is this going to be fixed? But then realized it's probably not that high on a priority list. But yes I've noticed this too.
  19. I'll keep it short and sweet What if we had a legendary trait that gave us the option to choose +1 or +2 extra traits (prob just 1) outside of the 9 we're currently capped at? We could choose an extra 1 or 2 traits from any line and any specialization we want. I know. POWER FLIPPING CREEEEEEEEEEPPPPPP IN WvW. I don't think PvE'ers would mind, and PvP won't have that option. So I guess it's primarily a WvW power creep thing. Don't go flipping out on me, I know it's OUTRAGEOUS. But it's a suggestion. Crazy one, but 1 nonetheless.Of course we'd have to have a crazy legendary trait quest to accompany it's level of power creep, so not everyone will have access to it, if they don't work for it, (and put money into the quest) But it's a THOUGHT! Have Zoija or Taimi conduct the trait quest or something. It's like a high tech extra trait line type of inquest quest.
  20. Yeah man, I made an edit above right before you replied haha. It was pain response i was talking about. The regen from that never generated any barrier for me. But yes I can definitely see how you could pretty much be condi immune. It's definitely something I would look into, and tinker around with myself, maybe I'll make another build revolving around Acro/Tr/SA
  21. Would Shadow Savior create the right heal for barrier? Not the best trait choice but just curious. It might be that it only registers direct heals maybe of a threshold amount and something like Assassins Reward would fall under heal over time since your regen boons aren't triggering it but Mug is direct and a pretty decent heal. I tried messing around with shadow savior too and and attempted to create all kinds of different variants whether it be a (CS with invigorating precision, TR, and SA) or an (Acro with G.I and Assassin’s reward) or (Deadly arts with mug, SA, Tr) and ( Deadeye with invoking shadow burst, and M7 grand master) everything just either didn’t generate enough, or didn’t generate any barrier in general. That being said, Shadow savior just wasn’t as good as it sounds on paper, when you try running a S/D or S/P (Acro/SA/Tr) build, or (CS/SA/Tr) However signet of Malice SA/CS (invigorating precision)/ DrD build does work very well, I solo towers with it. It’s the only build I use to solo towers. NPCs don’t dodge out of my smoke screen, the tower, so I’m constantly generating malice as well as actually constantly generating it via malice heal, my staff reflects pretty much helps defend against tower boss’s rifle auto attack, and all my CDs come back quick without any fear. And because of quickness proc’s I generate barrier really quickly when quickness does proc. It’s a very safe solo tower capturing build that I am very comfortable using. Utilities: Siget of malice/ Roll for Ini/ pit fall ( for the interrupt on lord’s break bar )/ smoke screen/ daggerstorm I’m totally interested! I want to know how that goes! New builds excite me (: especially when they become viable! And I tested Guarded Initiation I think that’s the one that cleanse condi’s and Gives the regeneration boon right? Or am I completely wrong, I would have to log in and check or check online or something. But the middle trait in the Acro line on the first Adept tree. I went into a camp got shot, got my condi’s cleanser and got the regeneration boon on me, but barrier was not generating from the regeneration boon EDIT: The trait I have been talking about wasn't guarded intiation, it was PAIN RESPONSE in acro.> @Dawdler.8521 said: So hence, good play on thief. I do mean it. Man I totally appreciate your input and feedback then! I know before you were alittle harsh with people that used SA, and the campers. But as you see, that does not apply to me. Like I said and keep saying, if the traits I picked in SA ( hidden thief, leeching venoms, cloaked in shadows ) had their own line. I would choose that over SA. And of course the stealth heal would also be nice. People who run shadow arts typically run ( shadow’s embrace condi cleanse not hidden thief/ Leeching venoms/ and shadow rejuvenation not cloaked in shadow ) I always try to go against meta builds, and cheese. I run SA but hit you like a DA/CS and in your face like a staff jump 3 Acro user ( pre staff and Acro trait nerf )> @"foste.3098" said: I will definitely have to give mischief sigil a try! I already have it in my inventory! Thanks for the suggestion!! And The writ is better for me because I typically know how to stay above 90 when mitigating damage. The writs are why I am nearly 3k power (. Along with staff master trait) power increase. I live by the writ, and die by it ?> @Shiyo.3578 said: What do you mean ? You hold W and walk away from staff daredevil users ?
  22. Thanks my man, I appreciate it. Any constructive criticism or any criticism you’d like to offer (:?> @babazhook.6805 said: Yeah man I hear you with that. But I actually did some test with barrier generation with assassins reward and the acro line, it’s definitely not generating enough. I thought the regeneration boon would generate barrier but it does not, I tried have Guarded intitiation proc for the regeneration, but it didn’t proc barrier either, nor does deadeye’s M7 grandmaster trait. Deadly arts Mug proc’s barrier though. I was trying to create a barrier S/D-D/P build, but it nothing was working. Also tried S/D deadeye. It just didn’t work. On top of the fact that the Thief class has one of the weakest trait systems in the game. We only have about a handful of actual necessary traits that Thieves across the board use. It’s really bad.> @ArielRebel.3426 said: I hope I inspire you to try DrD ? give it a try !!> @Jugglemonkey.8741 said: Yeah the barrier definitely isn’t the end all be all, but it’s definitely a good choice or option, if you want a non meta build that’s viable. Barrier isn’t going to solve all the problems or defend and mitigate all the damage coming to you, it’s just an extra layer of mitigation no matter how small. You should already be dodging, blinding, applying weakness, knocking down, etc. Barrier just provides another layer of mitigation and something that your enemy has to chip away at no matter how much barrier you have for that short period of time it’s active.? As you see how I play I’m very aggressive, and don’t hesitate to dodge or dust strike
  23. Yeah definitely! Look out for my build today! Maybe you’ll like it! However you’ll have to farm Honor of the waves dungeon for the runes. Sanctuary Runes. If you don’t have them already :( https://en-forum.guildwars2.com/discussion/114646/staff-drd-build-and-video-new-barrier-staff-build-and-included/p1?new=1 There you go brotha :), Sorry about the late post ^^

  25. Yeah definitely! Look out for my build today! Maybe you’ll like it! However you’ll have to farm Honor of the waves dungeon for the runes. Sanctuary Runes. If you don’t have them already :( Yeah man, I’ve been running Staff/SD before, and have always used smoke screen and such. But I used eagle runes or scholar back then. So in terms of SA Staff and all the variations of my Staff/DP build. It’s pretty new, and especially my barrier staff thief build ?
