  1. Is someone leeching gate really a big deal? It takes 3 people to do it and you don't even get LI/LD for it. It's an open world event basically. Just let the guy get the instance so his static doesn't have to clear it and kick him afterwards.
  2. Ping exists. You gotta play through it. We had players on our team in the HRP with 150-200 ping and they played the game just fine. Anytime you play a game online you just have to deal with ping and play through it.
  3. Keep it in your pants bud. This is a video game and not a porn. It doesn’t matter.
  4. There's more to tanking and support than damage. I've made my case and it's clear that you are beyond discussing this with. You're arguing against a concept that most of the top tier raiders agree on because you apparently know better than the best players in the game. I will go back to my original post, I would ask for advice on a more reliable place like the Snowcrows discord, which has a ton of the best raiders in the game available to poke at for questions and advice. These forums and the reddit are not a good place for raiding/fractal advice in general. Especially when you can go to a collection of probably the top 100-200 players in the game all in 1 place. Link to their discord: https://discord.com/invite/qTs63YH
  5. you keep bringing up lack of damage due to going shield as an issue yet you're promoting hFB which has no damage. And your role as a tank is primarily boon support and boss positioning and dealing with mechanics. For his situation, doing damage is irrelevant. Chrono for q2 is far superior. You can quite literally take 0 damage on chrono from his attacks with 0 toughness on if you know what to do. hFB you're letting the stuff hit you and just dodging some or healing yourself back up, but if you're healing yourself you're not healing your squad. You also struggle more with giving boons to the group on FB tank compared to chronotank. OP: hFB tank is easier to pick up on because you can stand still and auto attack on mace and just spam all of your utility skills off cooldown and do an ok job. If you want to be impactful and have a heavy impact, learn chronotank. You can do a lot more.
  6. The idea of going soulbeast with moa stance over inspi chrono is actually laughable. Trying to properly use that without coordination in a pug group is impossible. Your explanation of the mantra vs stm range shows how little you understand about fb mantras. They are bugged. They've always been bugged. They don't actually work properly. It's not reliable. Blocks aren't the only way to stop damage. Chrono has more than hfb to avoid damage and it can help allies, regardless of positioning, with aoe aegis from signets. It also provides a tremendous amount of CC which I didn't even mention earlier. Sure hb MIGHT have more aegis, but chrono has more damage avoidance and mitigation overall. It can also multiblock/evade/invuln basically at will for free. I use inspi chrono almost every single day in what would be considered a good guild for good kills and clears. Healbrand just doesn't compare. As far as records go...well....sloth and dhuum both use inspi chrono. A bunch of 2nd and 3rd place times as well. And show me your healbrand records 🙂 TLDR for the OP: Chrono is far superior to any other tank in 99% of situations out there and taking the time to learn how to properly play that class will be very valuable. You can instantly make every pug group better by being a strong inspi chrono for them. Healbrand can work as a tank. I never said it won't. Chronotank is just a better support class and tank overall.
  7. 1. I've out DPSed plenty of pugs while playing inspi chronotank. Inspi chrono is not bad damage. Bad players have bad damage. You can keep 100% quick with ~20-30% BD pretty easily and utilize your other utility skills for boon extension, portals, cc, damage, movement, etc. 2. You can for sure bring shield on chronotank but even without that you have sw2, sw4, signet of ether, signet of inspi, and possibly another signet of inspi if you bring mimic for damage mitigation. 3. The main advantage to chronotank is the boon extension. 3s of extension on all boons on everyone in the squad is crazy powerful. 99% of pug groups out there struggle to upkeep boons and having an inspi chrono instantly fixes a lot of those issues. Can qb do more damage? Sure, maybe. Have I out dps'd qbs while playing inspi chrono? Plenty of times. Qb/Hb have a huge flaw, mantras. Mantras rarely work as intended. The cone vs aoe effects are so ineffective and rarely work properly. This is even more of an issue when the qb/hb is tanking as they are separated from the group and often times mantras miss causing bad quickness output. Another issue with hb tanking (to counter your point of not enough blocks on chrono) you have 3 charges of your heal for aegis, however 1 is used for quickness so you realistically have 2-2.5 essentially. Now you have mace 3 if using mace as well and shield 4 so yeah you have we'll say 4-4.5 aegis applications. Each blocks 1 hit. A lot of attacks multi hit and you have no channeled blocks unless you take renewed focus or shelter, both of which would be considered poor decisions for your team. Chrono has 5 sources of damage mitigation, 3 of which are 1s of complete invulnerability or evasion AND by the time you get through using 3 or 4 of them the first one is coming off cooldown already so it is endless damage mitigation/avoidance. This isn't even counting shield in the mix. If you add that then you now have 7 sources and 5 of them are 1s invuln/evade/blocks. Now if you're coming in with a celebrand tank that is also signet sharing via PI and providing some damage and cc then I think we have a better debate here. However 99% of players don't even understand what PI is or means. The basis for a good comp in almost every boss and almost every pug run should be: druid, banners, alac (mirage or ren), inspi chrono, 2nd quick (qb/hb/stm/scrap), 2nd healer if needed, dps. Inspi chrono and druid are basically irreplaceable in the utility and skills that they provide. Banners are technically irreplaceable as well but other than that the other 7-8 spots in your squad can be essentially anything. If you start with a solid druid and a solid chronotank then EVERY encounter will be easier, smoother, and faster. I don't really think "off-tanks" such as druid or ren tank are relevant in this discussion as OP is a new player and those types of tanks are rarely seen in the lfg or in average groups. As someone who raids very consistently with good groups, inspi chrono is crazy valuable. It's used in multiple records and is still widely considered the best tanking option for the everyday raiding circumstance. I'd go as far as to say that inspi chrono has the highest carry potential of any role you can play. The only competition there is druid. Edit: Also worth noting you brought up largos and chrono vastly outperforms fb on largos and sh due to confusion. You don't need inspi on largos and can just go full dps stm cchrono and cchrono loses a lot less than pchrono does by taking stm. SH you can be fine without inspi but a lot of people take it for survivability. Regardless you're pulling 20k or higher on inspi cchrono and the ceiling is much higher.
  8. This is just completely false information. Chronotank is an extremely good build. The inspiration traitline alone is powerful and worth taking 1 inspi chrono in basically any pug run or most statics for any non-boon thief boss. To the OP, while Armen makes a few decent points about healbrand/quickbrand tank and Druid tanking being available. Chronotanking is very good and I would highly recommend using it and learning it if you have an interest in being a tank. If you want some really good information then I would not ask for it here. I would ask for it on the Snowcrows discord. There are plenty of helpful and knowledgeable people there.
  9. I'm just convinced Raknar isn't good enough to raid and is salty because he just whines about making them easier lol
  10. Strikes aren't raids. They're an absolute joke that bring no true challenge into the game. They don't teach people how to get into raids at all
  11. Today marks the 1 year anniversary since wing 7 came out. The longest drought we’ve had with really no end in sight. RIP raid community. At least we have strikes that bore the raiders to sleep right?
  12. Are you in DOC? Sounds like a DOC comment to me
  13. Here we go again. Every month some casual player comes storming in demanding easy mode raids. Gw2 raids aren’t even that hard. You can grab a build off Snowcrows, watch a video of the fight, practice your rotation for 30 minutes and go roll through every boss except wing 5 most likely. Put some effort towards learning your classes and improving yourself. Not everything should be handed to people for little effort. Raids are supposed to be harder and the rewards belong in the hands of players who put forth the time to beating raids.
  14. Dear Arena Net, I’m currently a guild leader of a WvW-centric guild, however I play with 3 static PvE raid groups as well. There is a new line of communication between the WvW dev team and us as the community in the form of a discord with WvW leaders. This has been incredible and I love what it’s done. My question to you, as an active member of the raiding community, can we get something like this started for the PvE community? I would be more than happy to set up a discord and be the liaison between dev and player if needed. No flaming of dev decisions and no negativity on it. I simply want a place to interact respectfully with the team who makes our changes as well. We can limit the number of people in it and it can be ranging from credible raiders like those from LN or Meta or SC and some amateur raiders like myself and my static group. I think this could be extremely beneficial to the PvE community and to the Arena Net development team as it provides a streamlined place for balance discussions, ideas and requests, and various items of discussion. Sincerely, A chronojail raider
  15. Well I want to refer you to the below post:
  16. Any other Chrono fans wanna chime in and let him know what having your class destroyed really feels like? Side note, I roam on DH and FB all the time and it’s faceroll easy to be successful. This is a you problem, not a design problem sorry.
  17. Please bring back the old Signet of Inspiration. Chrono has been nearly Impossible to play to any useful capacity in group WvW. In fact, Mesmer in general is in a really bad spot for WvW past roaming/havocing. SoI doesn’t have to be as strong, and we don’t need the trait allowing us to use a minor SoI on illusion summon. How about everyone receives boons on the chrono at a 50% duration or something? Also the lack of having a self-shatter and no distort skill without using CS or a traited signet really cucks us. I’d say you can either bring back self-shatter or if you simply make clones more survivable in WvW so we have an opportunity to use shatters that would work too
  18. I don’t think raids are inaccessible though. I took my WvW guild and rounded up 9 people and taught them wing 1 and we cleared it within a week. I think they’re too easy. This group that I literally just taught raid mechanics and builds to 7/10 of them can now clear wing 1 in 2 hours.
  19. Please no. Raids are meant to be challenging. The raid-specific drops should be challenging to get. There’s no reason to make it easily accessible. Using LFG tool rarely takes more than 10 minutes to fill a group, and usually it’s under 5. The skill issue is the reason raids exist. It’s not casual PvE. It’s meant to be challenging and for people with higher skill level. Honestly the GW2 raids are still easy overall. There’s a few encounters that are challenging but in general GW2 is an easy game and the raids are some of the easiest of all MMOs.
