  1. Many organisations configure their edge devices to suppress/limit ICMP traffic such as Ping/echo response as a security measure or to protect bandwidth.
  2. Mounts are a way to get around the map, not skip it completely; you have waypoints for that.
  3. It works provided you don't already have a nourishment buff or the malnourished debuff. It may be a step towards preventing us accidentally eating the ubiquitous cake and cancelling the effects of more expensive foods.
  4. Nope. I just gave your latest post a confused emoji and I'm a 59 year old who does Raids, Strikes, T4 Fractals, Dungeons, the lot. I may not be the best player, but I've never complained any content is too hard. Except maybe a couple of JPs 🙂
  5. Bad solution for you; good solution for anet. They can either spend millions restructuring their server architecture or sit back and accept revenue from the few outliers who want to actively play all the content in both regions.
  6. That topic exists just to collect all those requests in one place. Otherwise there would be 700 such threads flooding the forum. But it's a request thread not a demand thread. Maybe it means something comes back this year that wouldn't have been available until next year., but there's no suggestion that posting in there will result in any action by anet.
  7. According to the wiki, that outfit has been in the gem store at least 5 times in the last 2 years.
  8. Wow, that's a sweeping generalisation right there. Some of the best WvW players I've encountered are in those older categories.
  9. But only because there isn't a 6-12 bracket.
  10. I can tell you that, because I was 40 when it was released.
  11. I think something went awry when they reworked the personal story in the past (one of the reasons why they are unlikely to touch anything that depends on those story steps in the future). You may need to replay the story on another character to get the achievement.
  12. TD navigation is meant to be challenging; it's a jungle after all. Once you get used to the places where you can move between the different map levels, it is easier. But I think it's a good thing that I can still get myself lost, even after all these years. The nuhoch wallows are usually my saviour; find one of those and you can generally get back to Rara Novus at least. I just did the rift hunting weekly in TD and was able to reach all the active rifts in good time.
  13. I've long suspected that different players look for different things in the games they play. 🤔 As for me, GW2 more than satisfies my gaming needs. I have logged over 18K hours and I still have many things I want to do. It definitely helps having people to play with. I have real life friends and an active guild to keep me energised.
  14. Any story in the game can be done in a party, so up to 5 players. Just be aware that you each have to do the open world steps (talking to NPCs, opening rifts, etc) and when in instances be sure to click to accept progress when prompted, or you'll get out of synch.
  15. There's actually 22; 11 in each map. You can see the locations on the wiki page.
  16. Each rift has a pre-rift event where you have to kill Kryptis. When that completes you can activate the rift to lure a boss through (higher level rifts mean higher level bosses), The pre-rift event always gives despair, Tier 1 boss events always give despair, Tier 2 bosses always give greed, Tier 3 boss events always give triumph. As idpersona says, the first 5 rift events you complete on the weekly maps give bonus chests with different essences in. You can check which maps are available each week by looking under h(ero) / achievements / Secrets of the Obscure / Weekly Rift Hunting.
  17. 1. Make sure you do both the pre-rift event and the T1 rift event. From the wiki: Completing Kryptis rifts during Rift Hunting. Receive 3-7 for completing the pre-boss event of any tier rift, and 3-7 for completing the boss event of Tier 1 rifts, or 6-14 if you have trained the Rift Mastery. 2. Any experience you earn on the SotO maps counts towards your current mastery target. Exploration, events, kills, whatever. Use boosters when you have them. Look for banners and bonfires that other players drop, especially at meta events. 3. Guilds often recruit via map chat. If you see other players representing a guild you can ask them if its an active guild and if you can be invited. Worth confirming they do the content that interests you; some may be more focussed on WvW or Raids for example. Fractals are a good way to enjoy some group content. They start at a low level and let you work up at your own pace. Start by checking LFG / Fractals of the Mists / Initiate Scales 1-25 for anyone offering chilled or training runs. Maybe watch a few YouTube videos so you get an idea of the mechanics involved.
  18. You are more likely to be left behind if you choose to defer playing the new content until some indeterminate time in the future. You risk the player base moving on to newer content and finding it increasingly difficult to complete some events amd map metas. As Kharmin says, skipping dailies mean at worst you miss out on some easy gold or cosmetic rewards. There is way more AA available than you need for the better rewards. I've been buying the 30AA gold bags for a while now.
  19. I mostly ignore the bonus map rewards and treat them as ... a bonus. The exception is the regular tours I make of the six PSNAs who sell mapping materials for karma. I save these up and then use them on the most lucrative map, as indicated by the tables on this page: https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Map_bonus_reward/profit
  20. It's almost certainly more complex than rocket science. Have you seen how many YouTube videos there are on building a rocket from scratch? I've yet to find one on coding a large scale MMORPG.
  21. Seems very likely all the other things you listed will also carry over in future seasons
  22. You seem to be overlooking the (unlimited) bags of gold?
  23. That may be true, but it still contradicts the OP's hypothesis that it's a result of some change in strategy triggered by hiring ex-Blizzard coders. Also worth pointing out that anet was originally formed by ex Blizzard employees who wanted to take the game in a different direction.
  24. I've been playing WvW for 11 years and I've yet to get a single badger of honour. Sad.
  25. I got my egg long before I reched the second map. IIRC it was five or six nests into my second tour of the Skywatch nests.
