Could a Main hand Focus or a Offhand Scepter work ?

We call them brass knuckles.  I don't think they'll make focus a melee weapon just because a lot of the visuals would be strange.  I think they would be more likely to add a new weapon type if they wanted that kind of melee/bruiser-style combat (and that would be hard because of the lack of weapon skins in old sets, but I've been wondering if they could maybe use the same skin as the dagger and leave off the blade so it's just a hilt?).  Off hand scepter is definitely possible, there are a lot of classes that could make something of that.  It's mostly just visuals.  Greatsword can be a ranged weapon, staff can be melee, anything can be anything.

They are both ranged caster style weapons, what makes them unique from each other?  If you flipped them you’d just have more ranged weapon skills.

But what if you didn't use them as ranged caster weapon but instead as brass knuckle, like for the Warrior, the Thief or the Revenant

It may come to something like that, but do you think they would repurpose old weapons with new attributes when they could just introduce a new weapon?

Them introducing a new weapon is very much unlikely, since that weapon would have less skins than the others

Using a weapon in an alternative way (Staff on Thief) is just what the Espec have been doing

Yep, it is more likely that they will just release skins for old weapons which make them look like a new weapon type.

Example: the recently released crossbow skin for pistols.
