Part of what makes Vindi easy in PvP is the fact that because you have one dodge with a powerful heal (or tons of damage) on it as well as an increased duration, it’s less punishing if you just use it off CD instead of trying to time it perfectly to avoid attacks.
If you just spam dodges on Rene or herald, you’re potentially getting yourself killed, whereas with vindicator, if you use dodge off Cd or when you are at less than 90% health, you’re probably being 90% as effective as you’d otherwise be.

I’m not too sure about Renegade because I barely play it, but compared to classic power Herald, Vindi has quite a bit of passive healing, increased healing power at low health and doesn’t require you to be on top of your target dealing damage to get your sustain via battle scars. Also GS is a little more forgiving and easier to camp than Sword/Sword, so as long as you’re swapping legends on CD, using any of your GS skills and dodging somewhat appropriately, you will be doing some decent damage (great aoe damage) and sustaining fairly well too.
Facet of Light is a great heal, but is much more difficult to use to its maximum effect than dwarf heal.

I don’t think Vindicator is much if at all better than Herald, but I think a bad herald will get stomped way harder than a bad vindicator and a great herald is more dangerous than a great vindicator, which makes me feel like Herald is more difficult to play.

From my own perspective, I was also deliberately not considering "this build is easy because it's strong" considerations.

Herald's mechanics are fairly simple and intuitive. Press a button once to get a passive boost to you and your allies at the cost of some upkeep, press it again to activate a "real" skill. You can upkeep multiple skills, drain to under 10%, and legend swap for Charged Mists, or you can flash the facets up, consume them almost immediately, and pretty much not have to worry about energy when in dragon stance. Either way, they can be fairly fire-and-forget in nature: you could have a facet running for several seconds, or have it on cooldown for several seconds after consuming it, there's not a lot of button-pressing required.

Vindicator is mechanically more complicated, giving it a higher skill floor. You have to adjust to your dodge being different, and potentially being a necessary part of your damage rotation rather than a defensive action. You have to balance two legends on Alliance Stance that nevertheless share an energy pool, including having your healing potential split between three heals instead of two. Some of the skills on those stances also have fairly short recharges, which can translate into a lot of button-pressing in order to use them optimally.

Once you've met that skill floor, then there certainly seems to be the strength there to make things easy. Scavenger Burst, for instance, is at least 4 seconds of quickness (and potentially up to 9), along with fury and a decent amount of damage. That's a pretty efficient source of self-Quickness and damage if you remember to keep using it. Tree Song, the Viktor alternative, is a pretty significant source of area condition removal and healing given that it's on a 3 second cooldown. Once you've met the skill floor, it's probably fair to say that Vindicator is strong enough to make it feel easy, at least in most PvE settings. (In PvP, the glass cannon nature of power herald does make it more difficult to succeed with, but I think that's a factor of that specific build, not the specialisation as a whole. I've run dwarf/glint sustain herald in the past, and that was reasonably successful at the time without having the "obliterate the enemy or be obliterated" feel of shiro/glint herald. While condi herald has had periods where it was absolutely dominant and is reasonably easy to play.)

But there's a degree to which that's probably the case with all of the revenant elite specialisations, and I think Vindicator does have a higher skill floor than the other two due to the aforementioned mechanical complexity. Revenant is a pretty strong solo profession overall, it just has trouble bringing the damage in team PvE and its traditional support role has been eclipsed by mechanist.

From mine

my fav is herald coz it versatile.

Ren is easy for do damage. Condi build. And has Ren skill to make decoy for pve .

vindy is challenging one coz I have to change my habit in healing skill . But if you think you are mage/ healer combination and hang around with hammer. Then it is perfect for backline support.
( jump heal , dodge back , long range clean 5 condi. Area heal every 5 sec . Shot flame shot spear, )

for tank…. My fingers now squid lock.

Renegade is easiest to play.

Vindicators is my favorite.

Core is straight up boring now after the CC nerf since I don't use Hammer or Shiro.

Herald is the hardest to play, since it has only a few options.  Shiro DPS or Ventari Boon support.

Core Hammer build can also be pretty hard now without Shiro, and unless you running support Ventari

If there was an option to play greatsword Herald or Renegade, i don't think i'd touch Vindicator.

Sadly i'm stuck playing Vindicator because i love greatsword that much.

Self inflicted pain!

I feel the same but the single dodge mechanic is a huge drawback, so sometimes I get tired of it and turn back to Herald.

Meanwhile, I'm actually pretty meh towards greatsword, soooo...

Still taking Vindicator into Canthan zones to try to get the voicelines myself rather than reading them on the wiki (played vindicator on my first playthrough expecting the voicelines, and then they were implemented after I'd already finished and moved on to other characters I enjoyed more, grrr), but I just haven't found it as fun as the others.
