Pre-Order Bonus Weapon

Recommended Posts

THe pre-order bonus weapon selection for EoD ended up being, essentially, an extremely common drop. Something I got many of within hours and days of launch and hundreds over the course of the past year. None of the other pre-order bonuses are of any interest to me so I am left wondering if the Eagle Eye weapons will be common salvage fodder as the weapons for EoD were? I am willing to pre-order if the benefits for doing so are worth my it to me, but a getting an extremely common weapon skin doesn't meet that requirement.

Any answer or indicator of the rarity of the weapon set would be appreciated. No answer will be interpreted as meaning that the weapons will be commonplace and so render a pre-order inappropriate.

Thank you for your consideration.

My bet is on a common weapon similarly to EoD. Except going back to the articles, it looks like they describe it in 2 different ways:

Prepurchasing guarantees you the following three rewards: the Demon Hunter title, the Arcane Spellweaver’s Hat Skin, and an Eagle Eye weapon skin of your choice.

Here it's "an Eagle Eye weapon skin".

If you’re prepurchasing the expansion, you’ll get a weapon choice box that will get you started on the Eagle Eye weapon set—one of three upgradeable, two-tier weapon sets coming in Guild Wars 2: Secrets of the Obscure.

Here it's a "weapon choice box".

Either way, even if it's at some kind of black lion skin pricing tier, I'm not blindly prepurchasing an expansion for it. If it's somehow hard to get those weapons/skins then I might as well not care about the related collection, since I'll still need 15 more weapons/skins for that tier. If it's easy to get then getting 15 vs 16 of these weapons doesn't seem like an actual difference. At this point whatever it is, I think I already decided it's not worth for me to prepurchase.

Thanks for the insight. I think I willl skip prepurchasing as well.

  • 2 weeks later...

You just know it's going to be a "Flame Serpent Weapon Chest" 2.0 situation. It's the first thing I thought when reading it.

The real enticement is going to be the "Pay early to receive a BETA test privilege"

Edit: (Very relevant, specially that california part)
