Yvern.7608
I might have just missed it somewhere but I don't think I saw anything on the details released about new Elite Specializations? I did see info about new weapon choices, both old and new. Which is nice, but I can't help but say that when I see new expansions in GW2 I have always been most excited about new mechanic and playstyle changes that will arrive with new Elite Specializations.. which does mean I'll be rather disappointed if there isn't going to be one. Just having new option of button to press, I feel, doesn't bring that great of change in comparison after all. 1
LucianTheAngelic.7054
Especs are dead, at least for this expansion. Instead we just get Weaponmaster training which will homogenize the hell out of the existing e-specs 1
vares.8457
We have enough elite specializations. The upcoming Weaponmaster is way better. 4 2
XSevSpreeX.2143
ANet stated some months ago when they announced a 4th expansion was in development that they were done adding elite specs for now, giving creative limitations as a reason for it. They did not definitely state one way or the other that they won't introduce anymore, iirc.
SoftFootpaws.9134
i'd rather they spent those resources overhauling existing specialisations and core classes as well. they could all be alot better, i think. 3 1
Batalix.2873
Especs are very likely done. Now that the devs have definitely attached alac and quickness to one espec per profession, that indicates a kind of completeness and shoving out of design space for future especs. Not impossible, but highly, highly unlikely without planning some reshuffling of boons to make a fourth set of especs relevant.
Esparado.9305
I'm glad for new weapons though!
Bish.8627
I doubt they would never come back to elites. Each expansion will need a selling point especially as they are not going to be as large as the previous. This one has weapon master as a selling point, along with the rewards overhaul among others. Next one wont have weapon master so it will need a selling point to diversify gameplay, could be new elites, could be new weapons, could be hybrids mixing elites or something, we cant know yet. But I couldnt see ther never ever being new elites again, I cant imagine them asking what they ask for expansions for just a few story missions and nothing new in terms of gameplay.

Yeah there's a lot of dead or bad weapons like mainhand pistol and sword on thief I really want them to take another pass at before we get more elite specs. 3
GEGEZZ.7563
Thing is what's bad for someone is good for someone else. If you want happy customers better add things rather than replace existing ones. In one case you make 95% happy customers in the other like 50%. Maybe you'd find the replacement skills worse yourself. Edited July 12, 2023 by GEGEZZ.7563
loonatic.1689
Replacing especs are: 1. the ability to use any espec weapon regardless of traitline (may require expac containing that weapon? not sure) 2. the ability to wield 1 or 2 existing weapons your class could not use before (not available on release of SotO but in one of the SotO updates) I think especs are done. Bring on new classes.
Antycypator.9874
No elite specs, but we will get a new weapon for each spec and Weaponmaster training, which means you can use every weapon your class has to offer on every spec. Staff Deadeye, Sword Catalyst, Longbow Firebrand, Pistol Scourge... So this is actually more ways to play your class than another elite-spec.
