Tyrian Taste Testing: Forro event bugged blocking progress

Recommended Posts

In order to complete Tyrian Taste Testing, you need to "Obtain some healthy (and edible) greenery from Narcisse in the Botanical Skygarden in Amnytas."

This can only done after completing https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Help_Narcisse_purge_corruption_from_the_plants!  and speaking to Narcisse.  In order for that event to spawn, https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Help_Forro_purge_corruption_from_the_animals_and_return_them_home  must begin and be completed first, however that event is not starting properly at present.  All of the creatures in the area that turn hostile for the event are turning hostile and entering event conditions, with their breakbars and "Purge Corruption" mechanics in effect, however the event does not actually initiate.  I have tried giving it time to begin, I have tried completely clearing all hostile mobs, however since you cannot usher the cleansed mobs into their pens you can't get them to their true end-state that they would wind up in if the event was going properly anyway, the Forro event is simply stuck, and Narcisse is locked behind it.  This is also happening on fresh maps where it would trigger for the first time, so it does not appear to be related to any sort of mechanics that govern the event resetting from its previous completed state or from Narcisse's event's completed state.  We have also kept the Zizel escort chain completed and cleared through the territory on the off-chance it was affecting things.

Has anyone gotten this to work?  This has been 3 straight days on more than a dozen instances of this map for me.

Just checking - are you also equipping the flute that you need to charm the animals back to their pens once you break their bars?

Not at all obvious - though you get it from the event NPC. I did this one easily a couple of days ago

fleabite, youve mistaken this event for another one. best option for the event in question is to find a different version of the map, i was talking to someone on a different map and theirs bugged 3 times in a row, my map worked straight away. best to do this one straight after a meta completes and makes a new map.

No, they're talking about the same event, where you help the ogre get the creatures back in their pens. You use a flute given by the ogre to lead them back to their pens. That doesn't mean the event doesn't bug out, but it's still the same event.

For the record, OP, I did the event twice yesterday without issue. So if it's bugging out, it's not doing so all the time.

Yeah this is still happening - a lot. Three maps today I've been in had this issue, where the creatures go hostile but the event doesn't start. Forro won't speak to you so you can't get the flute, and there's no event running.

It worked for me yesterday. Unfortunately you seem to have caught several bugged maps.

tyrian taste testing has nothing to do with leading the creatures with the flute, tyrian taste testing you have to pick up the food next to narcisse and take it to each of the creatures you calmed in the event beforehand.

Yes, and that event only starts if the animal/flute event is completed (about four minutes after it ends). That's why it was brought up in the original post to begin with.

i was at the event yesterday recording times, the first time it was 9 minutes after farros event, the second time they were both up together. theres a reason wiki doesnt have farros as a prerequisite for narcisses event, we would have added that if it was indeed fact.

Actually, wiki does say the Creature Corral event with Forro is a prerequisite, the information is just in the wrong place.  Someone didn't format the wiki page correctly.

https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Help_Narcisse_purge_corruption_from_the_plants!

At the very bottom of the page, under the section headed, "Notes" it says:

"This event only seems to start about 2-4 minutes after 'Help Forro purge corruption from the animals and return them home' is finished."

But that doesn't make sense if other players have observed both Forro and Narcisse events up at the same time.

I had waited for the Narcisse event for at least 30 minutes and left when the meta started.  I don't recall the Forro event being up at all while I was waiting.  Came back the next day and the map instance I got on just happened to have the event already in progress.

It may not be a technical prerequisite, but it happens that way (requiring the animal event first) enough that it was put on the wiki under the Notes section and has been there for some time. And it has also shown up that way for me the times I needed to catch the event or tried to help others get it done.

we have formatted the page correctly, the reason its in the notes is because theres no 100% evidence, hence the " this event only seems to start about 2-4 minutes", emphasis on the seems, if it was as simple as do this event and 2 minutes later the next event starts then we would have put it as a pre event in the relevant box at the top of the wiki page. the discussion from wiki editors have even had other events they believe trigger this one so no one is in agreement. timings dont add up for a pre event though, ive had 2, 4, 7, 9 and 13 minutes after forro, 2 forros in a row with no narcisse and both of the events up at the same time in the last week trying to get timings for wiki.
