New Weapons?

Okay this has probably been posted before but I found nothing for several pages and with the search function so I just gonna speak my thoughts here.Something I would REALLY wish for GW2, which would easily expand the possibilities of every class: New Weapons. Also this has some practical reasons. I mean, they can add pistol and shortbow for warrior in the next exp, and then? You want them to use scepter and focus? But still there are enough weapons that could be easy accessible, even without new specialisationsLets name some:Spears: Especially for Warrior and Ranger, Melee Weapons with just a little more Reach and possible line attacks.Polearms: Halberds, Glaives, maybe even Scythes - nice for Warriors and the last one for necromancer (A match made in the mists)Whip: Rangers and thieves new best friend for a short-range-but-not-quite-melee weapons, surely enough applications for mesmers as well.Crossbow: Simple yet effective. Did you know Cortez had hundreds od crossbows but only a hand full of rifles? It seems rather odd to me that we dont got one yetChakram: A one handed weapon with lots of potential for agile classes and castersJavelin: The paragon in GW1 had them, I kind of miss them to be honestBrass Knuckles: For everyone who enjoys a good brawl.2h-Axe: We got bludgeons and swords for one and two hands, why not axes?

I’m not against new weapons, but you have to keep in mind that a new weapon needs to feel distinct and not “a sword that looks like a mace”.I dont know the effort elite specializations cost to introduce new weapons to the classes, but a new weapon type would be quite a workload.

That said, if a new weapon is introduced, I’d prefer the Spear or Scythe, because they’d feel the most natural to enter.I’d love to see a 2H axe as well, but I doubt anet can procure a unique combat style for that weapon, since it would easily look too much like the 1H axe, or the Hammer...

You're right ... this has been hashed out before with all the same results: ANET will do what ANET will do.

Those people who draw on the legacy of GW1 to bring weapons into GW2 should think of those two as totally separate games (that just happen to have a lot in common).

So many people bring up good arguments for and against bringing in new weapons, races, and professions. All of them are valid in their own right.

I was thrilled when they opened up new weapons to professions with the additional elites and I'm sure I'll be just as happy when they bring out a new (fill in the blank).

I can see warrior getting Focus if anet was smart about it; make it the mainhand weapon instead of offhand and give warrior that brawler/cqc type elite spec, straight up fisticuffs style maybe even dual wield focus, mainhand and offhand that way they could have more variety with all there other weapons like they did with Spellbreaker and Daggers

I would love for there to be new weapons like crossbows and 2 handed axes, to fill the more traditional roles that I personally prefer in a fantasy setting, rangers with crossbows, warriors with Greataxe etc. I really do not like the current direction of specializations, axe mesmer, dagger warrior, sword engineer... they just do not make sense to me and I will never play them, perhaps I need a more traditional MMO rather than this hybrid, I mean SAB and now these clown specializations have really made a mess of my perception of this game.
