Daily Berry Acquisition bugged

@"TheNecrosanct.4028" said:Would it have helped you if I said "Winterberries and Orrian Pearls are exceptions to the rule?" or if I had added the word "however" somewhere in my sentence? Your nitpicking aside, the fact of the matter is that Winterberries and Orrian Pearls do not have regular nodes in the home instance, but boxes. In other words, they are not like the nodes in their respective maps. Those 2 are the only ones like that, out of all LW nodes. And that is the reason why neither of them count towards a daily.Considering that winterberry daily doesn't say anything about nodes (and is advanced by berries acquired by other means as well), winterberry home node being mechanically a box is not a reasonable explanation at all.

Nor it is an explanation for orrian pearls (but, for those, an explanation does exist, in the daily description that actually says it is advanced by obtaining them specifically in Siren's landing).

By the way, fire orchid nodes both in home instance and in "seeded" places are mechanically not the same nodes as in Draconic Mons (they do behave differently). And yet both do advance the daily.

So, again, the change just increased the inconsistency, instead of diminishing it.

To put it simply: Winterberry and Orrian Pearls home instance nodes are not plant nodes. All the other home instance nodes are regular nodes. Fire Orchids are tree nodes, Jade Shards are ore nodes, etc. Tooltips are hardly word of law, since they aren't always accurate and are sometimes vague at best. For all we know they might have added the "...around Siren's Landing" part of the daily to point out you have to go the map specifically, and the home instance doesn't count, specifically because the Winterberry daily doesn't state it and did count towards the daily, and they haven't been in a position to prioritize fixing that until now. Adding it to the Orrian Pearl daily might've been a way for ANet to clarify the daily, while the Winterberry gathering daily was still on the backlog to be fixed. And in the grand scheme of things this is hardly of consequence. The point is, ANet never intended to let the Winterberry box in the home instance count towards the daily, as stated in the patch notes. Missing those 2 Winterberries and a drop of karma is like missing a drop in an ocean, and using the tooltip as an argument is shaky at best.

The only way the Fire Orchid nodes behave differently is that interrupted farming cancels the node and withholds the full gathering cycle of a node. The plant nodes in the Hidden Garden in Mount Maelstrom do the same. In fact, you can even "farm" them without having a gathering tool equipped (something that's impossible with any other node in the game). The node will disappear and the materials will be gone, with no way for you to get them during that daily cycle. Regardless of that, these plant nodes still count towards the daily Maguuma Jungle gathering. It's not how they behave that makes a difference. It's the fact that Winterberries and Orrian Pearls in the home instance aren't plant nodes to begin with.

Except you still need a harvesting sickle to gather them. They are not boxes. If they are then the sickle requirement needs to go and the daily needs to be reworded (the oyster still uses a herb node as it's placement icon). And Fire Orchids still credit the daily without being in Draconis Mons. Inconsistency.

Either they all count for the daily from the home instance, the daily requirement should be increased so they only give partial credit or none of them should credit. Until then the inconsistency remains.

Let's agree to disagree then.

No. You say all home nodes shouldn't credit the respective map dailies and then make excuses for the inconsistencies. The new node credits the respective Kourna daily, Fire Orchids count even on non-Maguuma maps (which is probably because Draconis Mons itself doesn't belong to any region).

Anet needs to make it consistant; that is all I'd agree on. Either they all count or none of them should.

Okay then. Thanks for the discussion.

Orrian pearls are indeed a "box" node, but winterberries aren't. They are still a plant node. Just slightly different than the ones on map. It is marked at minimap as plant node, it looks like a plant node, it requires a sickle, and it has a harvest animation. The only difference is that it gives 5 berries instead of 1.

So, basically, the whole premise for your argument is faulty.
