  1. I don't think you've been mocked for not wanting your character to drink for personal reasons (and if that was the intention of some of them, well, they can go F themselves). It just raises questions, valid ones. For instance, alcohol is an insurmountable problem, but killing animals and people isn't? What's your motivation for not having a problem with the latter and why can't it be applied to the former? However, drinking is seen as mandatory for social participation? Sure, I know there are people for whom alcohol makes social participation easier but it is far from considered mandatory. It might feel that way but that doesn't mean it actually is. I think we're mostly talking about parties/bars/clubs here. There is so much social participation going on outside of that. Talking to your neighbors in the backyard, having a conversation with someone you know at the grocery store, interacting with classmates at school or colleagues at work, etc. All social participation but I don't think anyone expects anyone to consume alcohol in those circumstances. And there are plenty of people who don't need alcohol at all to have fun. But such is life. We come across things we don't like, every single one of us, without exception. It is too much to expect the world around us to change according to our wishes so we can feel more comfortable. It's our own responsibility to deal with those things and that's part of how we grow and evolve as people. Not dealing with it or putting it in perspective has consequences and puts up barriers. This barrier is self-imposed, though. Why should anyone other than ourselves be responsible for removing those self-imposed barriers? I'm glad that someone has come up with a workaround for you. But don't make the mistake that the people questioning your request are all mocking you. It's not exactly a strong position and is actually counterproductive to understanding. It makes it seem as if you're putting yourself in a disadvantageous position, i.e. making yourself a victim to the whims of the world. That just makes us a target for a specific kind of people. I mean, we're talking about pixels and a fictional story here. Representation of a thing is not the thing itself. Anyway, I hope you'll do the responsible thing and put yourself up as the designated driver for whoever is going to be inebriated for your benefit. 😉
  2. Well, you're certainly not going to get 8,000XP more than once for a single map, but you will get proper map rewards once the map is actually complete. They used to do it the other way around. Bjora Marches or Drizzlewood Coast, for example, which were both introduced in 2 phases instead of all at once, gave map rewards when you completed the first half, but then no map rewards when you completed the second half because you already got them. Now they're doing it the other way around. This will not be a case of Southsun Cove, where you only get XP because the map is nothing but a handful of WP's and PoI's.
  3. It doesn't lack map completion rewards. The map just isn't complete yet. Once the 3rd and final part is added with next release you'll get your map rewards.
  4. I'm definitely for more variety when it comes to JP's/mini dungeons in the daily/weekly section. But what's the problem with Long Way Around? Get in, swim through, hop on turtle of someone who's already inside and you're done. It doesn't even take 30 seconds to do. And don't get rid of Spirit Vestibule. People might hate it, but having it as a daily has ensured that it is now done by plenty when it pops up on the list. It works having it as a daily.
  5. People tend to confuse the concept of "something for everybody" with "everything for everyone". No. Just no. No one gets everything and nothing is for everybody. And that is okay. That is how it's always been and always will be. It goes wrong when the people who want everything deny the wants of everyone else because they can't have it so no one should. The real reason, though, why we won't get a raid boss in the WV (and also why dungeons don't turn up in there) is because both are abandoned content. ANet isn't even trying to ferry people that way. Fractals and Strikes is what it's all about these days. As much as I hate that, I've accepted it. It's an 11 year old game. It changes, just like everything else does.
  6. So? How is that an argument against adding a raid boss to the WV? If we stop ourselves anytime someone has a complaint we wouldn't be able to do anything anymore. People who always find something to complain about are best ignored. Not that I see ANet adding a raid boss to the WV, but this should be the least of the reasons not to do it.
  7. Not so much. Every day I get the pop up that I got 10AP for finishing my dailies, but I've reached the 15k cap years ago. The thing with the AA is likely a bug, though I won't be surprised if it stays like this forever.
  8. A blatant oversight, then. Oversight of the fact the WV wasn't made especially for you. There are people for whom your desired rewards are worthless and who very much do want the rewards it offers now. If the specific rewards aren't for you, just go for the endless gold supply. It's only limited by the amount of AA you can get. And that gold can get you your mystic coins and clovers. The way the rewards are set up now it covers a lot of bases, catering to a wide variety of people. But because it doesn't specifically cater to your wishes, because it isn't rewarding you in the exact way you want it to, it's worthless. Uh huh. Like others have said: if you can't bother to do the math it's not ANet's fault that you can't see the added value of the WV over the old daily system. When you've bought all the clovers and coins you can buy per quarter the WV can still supply you with more. It just doesn't do it directly.
  9. Level 80 maps have always had level 80 gathering nodes. There are only a rare few exceptions to that rule (like the iron and platinum nodes in Thunderhead Keep). But the general rule for level 80 maps is: mithril, elder wood, orichalcum and ancient wood (which I hope will be added to Inner Nayos when the map expands because there are no t6 wood nodes right now). If you want materials below t5 then go to the appropriate maps, like we've all had to do for more than 11 years now. It's not like this is anything new.
  10. And it does provide more rewards than the old system. There is stuff in the WV that was never a part of dailies. Templates, ascended gear, weapon skins, emotes, at the moment also an infusion, legendary starter kits. You might not be satisfied with what they offer, but claiming the WV doesn't have more rewards than the old daily system is a blatant lie.
  11. I'll take all of your no's and add a Hell No on top of it all.
  12. Well, there is one thing I can say for sure: you live up to my expectations. That's okay, though. I tried to explain it but you fail to see the nuance and even continue to make claims about me, after I specifically refuted them in clear language. That's my cue to exit because there's no point discussing things further when this is the case.
  13. Then they should pay attention to who they are responding to. Though it should be clear to them now that I am not that other person.
  14. I agree. I'm pretty indifferent to it as well. But I do get that there are people who see LI piling up and wonder if ANet can't do something to keep them useful. They used to be more useful before ANet implemented the legendary armory, but now that unlocked legendary items can be equipped across all characters on an account subsequent LI have no use anymore. So I don't think it's a matter of intent from ANet. It's that they implemented a system that made subsequent LI after crafting all legendary raid gear redundant, whereas it wasn't before.
  15. Is everything black and white to you? Yes, I do give them more credit, in the intelligence department. I do believe more people are aware that oneshotting mobs with mounts in starter maps is a disadvantage for low level players than not. I wasn't crediting their motivation. Also, just because something is an option doesn't necessarily mean it's a good or decent thing. I also am not arguing they do it out of spite. That is your spin. My argument is they do it out of selfishness, simply not caring how it affects others. In other words, not malice but indifference. That's intent. Yes, both are more than likely out of convenience to the one doing it. That's not the problem, though. The problem is the effect it has on others. High level mobs aren't oneshot with a fireball, so people on the ground still have the opportunity to tag mobs. Low level mobs, on the other hand, are and that consequently takes away the opportunity for those on the ground to tag those mobs. One thing can be inconsequential in one scenario and consequential in another. That's context. Now do you understand? And I'm asking whether you understand the argumentation, not whether you agree with it, because from your previous replies it is clear that wasn't the case.
  16. What does it matter that plenty of people need them? Other uses for LI don't mean people are forced to use them and can't choose to keep their LI for legendary armor and Coalescence. Ever since I finished 3 sets of raid armor years ago I've been piling up LI's (3.3k at the moment, to be exact). Sure, they don't take up any space but it would be nice to have something to use them for besides legendary gear. All of it is optional anyway so people still needing them to make legendary gear is no argument against other uses for LI at all.
  17. Well, it seems I give the average GW2 more credit than you do, since you're implying that they are unaware of the oneshot mechanic of the raptor dismount in starter maps and how it's unfavorable to low level characters. What I am suggesting is that they are aware but just don't care. Any GW2 player who's ever levelled a character from 1 to 80 knows that the level scaling system in low level maps is far from accurate, since it's more than level that decides the power of your attack. A level 80 character does much more damage than a level 10 character in a starter map, in spite of scaling. Besides, some people are actually assertive and speak out in say or map chat. You'd practically have to play blindfolded (or extremely dim) to not be aware of it. By the way, you do realize that your response is doing the exact same thing you say I was doing in my post you responded to, right? Just because you argue in the opposite direction doesn't make it more true. My proof might be anecdotal, but I've seen plenty of what I have described above happening in starter maps. In this age of individualism this kind of egoism is quite common, sadly. Every community has rotten apples. GW2 is no exception.
  18. Not an excuse. The proof is on the forum. Look for it. I know you're capable of that. And when the game you play has no subscription fee you shouldn't be surprised that resources are limited. Why do you think we only got special quest lines for 4 HoT legendaries and the rest are material sinks, or why they haven't done anything like that since? Not enough resources to do it for all of them, unless you wanted to wait 3 times longer for the entire set to come out (and I do very much prefer the quest lines over the material sinks). Don't delude yourself when it comes to the reality of ArenaNet. They're not Square Enix or Blizzard.
  19. Joke's on you then. As a proud skyscale owner since day 1 (got it when the timegate between phases was still 24 hours instead of 2) I rarely use that new mastery. Small numbers are inefficient and after 15 spitballs you're ability is on cooldown and you can only use it once every what, 5 seconds? Scaling up the events, barely contributing damage, no boons whatsoever, no ressing of downed allies. How does it feel to be irrelevant to the completion of events?
  20. Even when people get what they asked for ("We want OW legendary armor and it's okay if it's a grind" is something I've read many times on the forum before SotO came out) it's not good enough. Because every single individual has to like the new content and/or features, right? 🙄 Newsflash: that's never going to happen.
  21. I love this "This is how I feel and I'm allowed to feel that way", coming from the person who argued others' feelings are delusional. Not "That's great for you that you enjoy the new release" but "How in your right mind could you enjoy this release?!" Accept that other people managed their expectations, based on the information ANet released before the release, and you perhaps didn't. Or maybe you weren't satisfied with what you saw even back then. But what's the point of arguing with people who do get enjoyment out of the game. If you're allowed to feel the way you do, then so are they. Yet somehow, if this gets a direct response, I have a feeling it's going to be more arguing.
  22. I'm all for racial themed mounts. But please, stick to mounts. As in, actual animals, not vehicles (which are NOT mounts). Scruffy isn't a mount, it's a vehicle. If you want a car, go play GTA.
  23. It's even specified with a timer. After the Amnytas meta you get a 2 minute timer for the map to close. It's the same with the Drizzlewood Coast meta. After defeating the boss and the 5 minutes of fair weather in the northern part of the map, when the storm returns the map closes (also specified with a timer on screen). But in regular circumstances, yes, you should have an hour before the map closes. So I assume you actually checked the timer instead of just thinking you had an hour.
