The achivement of avoid the sand pools and the wind walls is nearly imposible.

theres "trick" spots on map near wall, not completely avoid, but make it easier.

Alternatively, if it seems "impossible" to you, you should take other players along to do the job for you while you stand aside instead of fight the boss.

Yeah, it's awful. Especially since the boss can drop the sand whirlpools at his own feet when you're attacking him.

I had a friend kill the boss while I just ran around the edge of the arena, using my thief shortbow 5 to dodge everything

The most important thing to be aware for me was knowing that the whirlpools appear on the spot the elementals die. This means that if you are going to melee the boss then you should kite the elementals away from the boss before killing them. Having ranged non-projectile attacks(ele scepter, necro axe and scepter, mesmer greatsword 1) is also useful. I forgot the exact reason but probably because something has reflect.

The sand "walls" are actually projectiles so things that block or reflect projectiles would be helpful.

If you are getting a friend to help make sure you do some damage to the boss as well otherwise you can complete everything required and still not get credit.
