map events in PoF zones need to be fixed.

Been working on trying to get some achievements done in these zones, and it seems like no one is playing the game anymore. Unfortunately that means that people who didn't play the game 24/7 at expansion launch are screwed out of soo much stuff. I've been working on trying to get this stuff for weeks and can't because there is no one anywhere that is doing map events. What am I supposed to do, move to a new game?

I should also say that it is prime time right now and I think there are 3 people in my Desolation map.

Start a LFG. A lot of people look at that to see what's happening. I still do. And if I'm on those maps and someone asks for help, I usually run by. Plus, you may have better success if you try to do your achievement on a day when the bounty is a daily.

This doesn't make sense. People in low maps are asked to swap to higher populated maps. Just because you don't see them doesn't mean they aren't there.

Yes, you're going to hear, "Use LFG." But, yes, it's an ongoing issue as the zerg gets all its quests and achievements done. And if you get left behind after the initial rush? Indeed . . . it's a challenge. It's also part of the reasons I've given up on certain achievements as well.

Yeah . . . here's to hoping less quests and achievements don't require a zerg to complete them.

pof maps are just fine the way they are i see a lot of people on my maps when i am in them half the time .

pof does not need meta events even tho anet put them races into it.

could it be the mega servers put op on bad maps maybe half the time or does not play the same time zone as others and maybe tossing him into single maps

PoF does have meta events, though. Desolation has the Maw and Junundu Rising chains, Vabbi has the Forged with Fire and Serpent's Ire chains, Elon Riverlands has the Augury Rock chain, Desert Highlands has the buried treasure event, and Crystal Oasis has the casino blitz.

There are a few achievement/collections events which are truly terrible: things with crappy rewards (so no incentive for players to replay them), ranging from arguably quite hard to solo to pretty much impossible and sometimes, with ridiculous spawn times/conditions on top of that.The anomaly, the hounds of balthazar, the 4 champion djinns ... not only there's barely any incentive to replay those things, they're located in places where it's also unlikey for some helpful soul to pass by. Technichaly all of them are soloable, but probably out of reach for the average player (except the anomaly, that's just insanely boring, or maybe mine was overscalated for some reason).The there are some heavily ignored "metas" like Serpents Ire or Junundu Raising. Like most PoF content, these are still run from time to time, so it's a matter of patience, but I wonder what a player will be expected to do several months from now.

oh i know what it has and has not got it is just some seam to think pofneeds more meta events and so forth when that is not true at all

pof is just fine as it is no need to change it !! far as that casino blitz.and so forth .

i find a lot of fun setting back watching others getting so excited in these maps over these events . and spamming map chatswith no one answering back at all. :p :p

If the events you're looking to complete require a squad, then somebody has to step up and form one. It's really that simple. You can't possibly think these maps are devoid of players at this point! The fact is, everyone is just waiting for you to tag up and tell them where they can complete their achievements.

How do I know this? I step up and lead squads for events like the Corrupted Facet, Deadhouse, etc. that everybody needs. The common thread from the players I help is: "I've been waiting weeks..." Well, maybe if you didn't wait and instead form your own squad (even a party with mentor tag and an announcement or two in map chat will do!), you'd have this stuff done by now?

Threads like this one were a regular fixture all throughout HoT and those maps are still thriving with regular HP and meta event squads even now! Yet every week a new thread would pop up making the same tired and objectively false claims.

This is getting old. If you need help, how about asking instead of claiming that the events need to be toned down so that you don't have to form a squad?

Maybe you missed the part where he said no one was there? Or that he's been trying? Kind of hard to form a squad when no one is willing to do a specific event especially after it was a nightmare to do it the first place. For example, I did the Serpent Event once . . . and that was more than enough after I got the achievement.

It's a valid concern and there's no need to be rude about it.

Sorry. I guess I did place a lot of the blame on the latest person to post one of these threads. It isn't the OP's fault that a subset of the population has somehow managed to find only empty maps every time they play expansion content, while the rest of us experience no such issues. I do find that (routinely followed by demands for changes to events) somewhat frustrating, so perhaps I was a bit sharper than intended and for that I apologize.

Perhaps what I should have said is that if you aren't prepared to lead a squad yourself, then you need to find someone who is. LFG is one way, although I'm not sure what kind of results you'd get advertising "Need a commander for...". Another way would be asking for help here on the forums. Chances are there are some experienced commanders here who would be willing to assist. I generally don't lead large squads due to hardware constraints, but if all you need is a smaller scale event like Deadhouse or Legendary Facet, I help other players out with those pretty much daily. Just ask!

I'm sure loners are enjoying the desolation (no pun); prime time HoT has about a gazillion more players than PoF.Let the Massively Single Player posse have theirs, but it sure is a waste of zones.

It does if there is no one there at all. Which is fairly common.

For me, here’s the difference making HoT a lot more fun than PoF.

I’ve been working on getting mastery points, so I find stuff to do to reward them. Recently, I did HoT adventures, before that insights, etc. While doing these things, I’d get pleasantly interrupted by requests to help with a meta or some group event. I often dropped what I was doing to help, because massive groups doing cool things is kind of why I’m playing a MMO instead of some other newer, shinier multiplayer game.

I also worked on mastery points in PoF. I actually got all of them I need already (still working on HoT ones). While doing that, I got to participate in a grand total of one meta event. I’ve also gotten to do caffeinated skritt twice, and piñata twice. I’ve done quite a few bounties, but don’t really like them as they just feel like “kill me because loot” or something. There’s no connection to the story that I can see. I guess there are other metas from what people said in this thread, but I don’t know what they are or where or when or anything about them.

Sure, it is absolutely my fault for not starting a group for things in PoF. I’d probably have more fun finding out what things exist, and trying to make them happen more often. But that doesn’t change that PoF just feels like a barren wasteland devoid of players. It is a desert. Nobody says anything in map chat. You don’t run across people very often as you run around. It’s just a giant area that feels like I’m not in a MMO.

Maybe more or better meta events are the answer. I like the idea because I like meta events, but it sounds like the events already exist, and people just aren’t doing them.Maybe increased rewards for the stuff already there is the answer. It’s sad that opening 6 chests in 90 seconds feels more rewarding than most events in PoF, especially when it takes forever to run halfway across the map from the closest waypoint to get to an event that might not even succeed anyways.Maybe dailies specific to the zones (like LWS3) to get people talking about the events, or even knowing they exist, is the answer.If the map population is low (they’d know, I don’t), maybe special resource nodes like LWS3 would draw people to the maps.

I do hope something changes with PoF thouh, because I actually really like a lot of the individual pieces I’ve encountered. But right now, PoF isn’t quite good enough to keep me playing Guild Wars instead of a different game. It kind of feels like a lot of failed MMOs actually, with tons of stuff to do, but nobody doing any of it.
