  1. I don't think there are any traits like this that account for dynamic changes in attributes.
  2. As a feature I don't have an issue with it, it barely affected me and my playstyle regardless. But it introduced a major bug that it's still not fixed today. So, some time ago I got a friend to try out Holosmith, and it was all going well until I realized, their sword skills were not the correct ones. Apparently what has happened is that characters created after Soto released defaulted to the (as many of you are probably aware) non-Holo version of the Sword... That was created as a separate version of Sword skills with higher base coefficiency and slightly tweaked skills to accommodate Sword into Engineer specs that don't have access to the heat mechanic. Problem is that it applied to Holosmith characters as well, so now my friend is stuck with a Holosmith character that uses a Sword which doesn't interact with the heat mechanic, and before anyone says I should post this on the bugs thread, there have been posts about it there, I've sent both an in-game report and I emailed support about it. This is an ongoing issue since August of 2023, and it's still not fixed. My friend tried deleting that character and making another one, same issue, now they have 100% map completion on that new character and sunk a lot of resources to gear it up, so deleting it and trying again is out of the question. I just don't understand why, isn't this considered a game breaking bug? It actively puts the player in a disadvantage, I don't get how it's still not fixed. I'm unsure if that applies to all Engineer's created after SotO or just some, but I doubt it matters. So I just wanted to get some opinions, I'm not reporting it as a bug, I just want to express now baffled I am.
  3. I suppose, it checks all of these check boxes so yeah, it's a CC, and a healing toolbelt. But I think 17 seconds for this is reasonable, most of these are minor stuff, plus it's a difficult ability to actually land in many cases.
  4. Are you complaining or something? I thought this game was about skill and trait synery
  5. Doing daily runs of Greater Arcane Chests and I am starting to get fed up with the mechanic too.
  6. It's not even just the despair essences at this point, we really need a sink for them asap, I'm also holding onto them hoping Anet will add something, anything really that just takes those and gives us something in return even 1 copper per essence sounds like a good deal at this point. I'll be able to turn my 70 stacks into 1.75 gold at least...
  7. Didn't they make them harder to aquire? I think you could salvage low level food for them or something and they got rid of that, I can't fully recall. Which makes it unlikely they'll change it back. But I do agree with OP, they're just inconvenient and another gold sink, like the things that need them aren't already gold sinks themselves. I'd say it would be better if they removed the food items from the salvage list and instead made all gear kinds (crafter or not and regardless of quality or level) salvageable for research notes, that way it's less of a gold sink and more of a material sink which I think we could use (maybe I'm biased here because I make gold by selling materials, so take that with a pinch of salt). Also if the devs plan to make the research notes relevant from now on in all expansions, they better give us a research salvage-o-matic.
  8. I'm not taking it personally, I'm saying it's a bad idea, a balancing nightmare that will most likely end up making the class worse overall nerfing every other aspect of it. It's a part of it's identity. And shortbow being the way it is doesn't mean anything, the only difference is that it's a pure support weapon, which obviously makes it bad at doing anything else other than that.
  9. The class is not balanced around having weaponswap, and the majority of players playing it actively disagree with the idea, what more do you need to stop asking for it? (referring to the other weaponswap requests).
  10. If you want the bunker feel why not just make them so both the player and the Turrets get significantly tankier in close proximity, then just add a way to manually overcharge them, probably via toolkit and then you have your bunker build.
  11. Aegis is not even useful unless you can spam it, I'd take a block skill over Aegis anytime, it's not like we're Guardians and have a ton of synergies that make it worth it.
  12. I used to play TRV Holo, kitless too, but after the ESCU buff to affect all exceed skills, I couldn't resist switching, now I'm basing my entire build on that trait...
  13. Try going through all the achievements that give you HoT Mastery points and pick the ones that seem the most viable for you, if I'm not mistaken you can even filter them so you only get those achievements to make your life easier. Some timed events are pretty easy, salvage pit is a good example.
  14. If you're taking about the one I think you are, make sure you first train Itzel Poison Lore. You might need to leave that one and come back after you train this mastery.
  15. If it meant that the Kits themselves and the rest of the utilities/traits/weapons will be brought up to standards then yeah. Because sometimes it feels like the whole profession is balanced based on the assumption that you got access to all those skills the entire time, and when you're only using 1 kit or even going totally kitless you're actively putting yourself in a major disadvantage, and forcing a player take a particular kind of utility is just wrong. This applies regardless of the role you're going for.
  16. Right, I assumed they were talking about those, not the gemstone ones, I forget those even exist honestly.
  17. Technically they can, issue is that as the tooltip reads, they complete a random Hero Point from that expansion, so you either have to be lucky, or complete all the rest so the game will have to pick that one
  18. Long press was never a long jump, the jump distance is fixed (provided you're pressing W the entire time and are not in combat or effected by movement impairing conditions) and the only thing that affects it is speed bonuses such as Swiftness or Superspeed. And one more tip, it's possible to preform something we call a dodge-jump which is basically pressing both the dodge and jump buttons together, that also increases the jump distance. Try to get used to only tapping your jump button as the others said and remember the above tips are the only way to increase the jump distance.
  19. If you think that's comical what about Compounding Chemicals? 37 base heal with horrible coefficiency also sounds pretty comical to me.
  20. Isn't that a bit of a stretch though? I mean not liking Kits is similar to let's say not liking Gadgets, or Elixirs, the fact that Kits have this whole thing around them with the weaponswap is a balance thing. I exclusively been maining Engi from the day I started playing this game (just over 6 years ago) and after 8500 hours of it I dislike kits, and no I'm not supporting the weapon-swap idea either. So I really think that not liking Kits is not a big deal. PS : Those hours are mostly Holo, figured that's an important clarification.
  21. Well yeah, but it would cut down on a lot of damage considering all the other dps skills available. Plus 2 AA chain is not bad if you consider you need to use multiple other skills to get and maintain that. It's not like you can just perma camp AA and it's fine.
  22. The reason for the nerf is the craziest part, "To prevent people camping AA". That's just not true, no one really did that unless they couldn't be bothered to play the game at the time. And with Holo in particular the heat mechanic is an built-in incentive to avoid camping AA for extended periods of time. And the fact they didn't even compensate it in PvP/WvW is the cherry on the top.
  23. Wouldn't it be simpler to just enable friendly targets?
  24. Can't really say much to this, honestly both Scrapper and Mech always striked me as more support oriented specs, although it's good that the option for Dps is still there. All I can say is welcome to maining Holosmith, hope you don't get any epileptic seizures during your stay.
