  1. From what i remember, not really, it was simply an alternative, before, you could only buy them, then they added a system where you could either buy them or do something to unlock them, people hated that even more, so they ended up with the full hero point system. And for alternative skills, from what i heard (in some old dev interview), they did try to have some in early stage of development, but didn't manage to find good other alternative, so they scrapped the idea.
  2. MMORPG is the most vague genre in the whole industry. It's only requise is to have a persistant world, be multiplayer and get rpg element (exp, level, etc) The whole content is completely indefined by the genre, and from the core game, jp exists, so it's a core component of the game. Hard JP is to JP what Raid is to dungeon, harder version of a base content.
  3. The only one I see is a mastery point north of inner nayos, on those extractor towers. There is one where you have to land on the top of the pointy top to get the point. To be fair, it kinda surprised me, as it's the only thing I know in the whole game who require precise landing. Except maybe some JP, but those a highly optionnal and are kinda made this way the same way most game do when they implement the super hard end game content, so it's kinda common. Saying it's bad because of that would be similar to say a Mario game is bad... But generalizing on a single occurrence is a bit extreme, in my mind.
  4. Well, simple, i explored the area and found the entry. My turn, how did you found this one? in a core map : https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Togatl_Grounds And from my memory, that's clearly not the only one like that in core.
  5. Well, contrary to raid seller and ads, squad raiding are not in the lfg non stop , since they don't need people once full. It's not rare to see the lfg going from like 10 squad looking for people to 1 sometime in like 30min, squad were formed and now people are raiding, so no lfg.
  6. Well, then i disagree with your point, some "currency" are meant to work in one way conversion and i believe tome are in this category. The place argument seems kinda irrelevant to the subject as they are 2 scenario possible : - you consider tome worthless, then simply convert them to spirit shard - you consider tome valuable, then 250 tomes probably deserve using a slot
  7. While it do annoy me a bit, there is a good reason to it to work like this, a character candidate to be boosted is more likely to be deleted. The classic scenario would be something like : Create a character, try the boost, do not like how the class play out, delete the character. if the boost was in the normal inventory, you could had 2 very likely step : forgot to remove the boost before deleting, "Hello, support, i messed up..." I completely understand the will to reduce the workload of their support that probably already got a lot of task and don't need this unecessary work. Plus, originaly, they didn't even talk about the shared inventory slot, so this security was also converted into a nice gift (shared slot are pricy), if they didn't add it, we probably wouldn't have the slot free.
  8. And why do you need 2000 tomes? That enough to max out 25 char, did you plan to max out that many character in a near future ? Simply convert the excess tomes into shard, it take like 5 sec to do at the Miyani. I do agree to the fact of allowing convertion of birthday scroll, thought, as i would rather have the more flexible tome or some shard rather than lvl20,30,40 scroll, for exemple
  9. By too much space, do you mean 1 slot? I mean, i don't think there is a situation where you may need more than 250 tomes. On the other side, i'm not fan of the fact of literally changing every spirit shard into tome, they are meant to ease a bit the leveling, but having them at that quantity would kinda cheapen the leveling process even more. But, without changing how spirit shard works, i wouldn't mind being able to change the birthday scroll for either tome or spirit shard, even if it's at a reduced rate (like level 40 scroll tradable for like 20 tome or spirit shard)
  10. No, you misunderstood what i said, i said they focused on having only active effects So thing like summons, boon spiting while in combat, on struck effect, raw stat and stat conversion were not bring back into the system. And with a few exception that were removed maybe for balance issue (Trapper runes, for exemple, would normally fit the requirement for relic, but from what heard, they were problematic in pvp/wvw, so i wouldn't be surprised they used this occasion to kick it out), what we got kinda fit what they announced.
  11. When i read this type of post, i feel like some assumed veteran where always veteran. 25 August 2012? Just a bunch of gw2 veteran playing the game. Of course, they didn't have trouble cause they were veteran even back in the days... Plot twist : there weren't and yet it didn't cause problem So no, most thing aren't cryptic in this game, most of the time, the only effort to do is paying attention to your surounding, read item description or NPC talking. I know this is something MMO playerbase tend to struggle with, but the gaming playerbase in general tend to succeed at those check...
  12. Well, first, it's passive and they focused the rework on active effects. Second, Anet has never liked entities who aren't link to skill or mechanic in general (may it be consumable, with rune or sigil). Third, they may have looked at the data and see it may not have miss to anyone (except maybe a small vocal minority)
  13. I'm pretty sure this is mursaat token in ember bay. They went a bit over the top with some collection in Ember bay, but that's pretty much it, usually, it's kinda okay if you look around a bit.
  14. Hum, there is no reason why you would need to interact with an NPC "Elementalist trainer", why do you need that exactly?
  15. Hum, since it's not really clear in you message, did you try creating a group in the lfg? That meta isn't that much popular and right now, wintersday festival is draining a lot of player from the rest of the game, so it may not see a lot of play, but sometime, you may have multiple person in your case, monitoring the lfg to find a group, so you could be doing it, but since no one took the initiative to create a group, everyone stays there watching. And don't worry about the fact you can only create a 10 man squad without the commander tag, someone could takeover any moment with his tag (i did it a few time, join some 10man squad for meta, and change it in 50man squad for easier access to everyone)
  16. I don't want to delve into the old forum (and it would be hard to find anyway), but back in the days, (the first year) someone asked "why are we getting so many festival?" Devs response was basically something like "it's repeatable content that is done one time (and then slightly expended) and then be used to fill the planning during the year every year"
  17. Hi, First, while it happened at the same time, the rune/relic rework is unrelated to the expansion, at most it was probably simply a good occasion to do it. Second, well, it's not like it was the first time the "aristocraty" changed, right now, it's like the 4th version of the bonus. It normal to happen while balancing, some thing appear, others disapear. They are not removing content, they are changing it. From what i know, nobody is claiming they are removing content every time they changed a skill or trait... Right now, this bonus still exists, it's simply a different version, who may fit others build.
  18. If you know that i'm right, then you should understand that your request is useless, the reason jackal is used less is completely irrelevant to what it does, so buffing it would change nothing. I personally don't care that it's used less, if people want to use a mostly bad version of jackal, who am I to stop them? It doesn't affect me.
  19. You're wrong, raptor is the weak one, it's only faster in situation where you could reliably use rollerbettle. The only nice thing raptor got is the pull on engage. The jackal can : - Do sharper turn - Dash without touching the ground - Negate fall damage with dash - Use Sand portal - Got crazy synergies with both bond of vigor and bond of faith - Is faster than raptor in every terrain except flat long distance
  20. While it's unusual compared to other festival, if you look at the description of the achevement, it seems to be intented.
  21. Well, if you're using 20% of your kit, it sure is less plenty (could work, still, because it's only 6 stack to proc) I can't even suggest aristocraty because you don't have weakness or vuln. So yeah, with so many limitations, no relic would really work, neither old rune too, by the way. So yeah, it did not work since vanilla, actually... But it's unrealistic to ask to have everything working under even the most scuffed conditions...
  22. Well, first, it applies burning. Second, sources of bleeding are plenty, so you don't have to focus on it. Third, the person i quoted talked about poison and tourment been the only condi relics allowed (so meta, in that sense), so i mentionned it being meta, too.
  23. Well, they probably didn't forget them, either they don't want to have them anymore or haven't find a good way to implement them. But beware, if they happened to ever come back, it won't be in the form you expect. It would probably be something like : When X trigger happened (on disabling foe/elite skill/heal skill/stack mechanic/other conditions) Summons something for X sec (Cooldown X sec)
  24. Well, actually, there are still requirements at the vendor and the gift for legendary is 5 path completion, if I remember well, it's retroactive so you may not have seen it when they added the requirements when they changed the dungeon tokens
