  1. I want GW2 to be better than WoW. I want both games to be better. Plainly put. But currently neither are true. WoW is in a bad spot at the moment. But looking at GW2, you should be worried. Especially with EoD offering little, and current business practices standing.
  2. Yes. "Fairer" one. Like the loot box extravaganza that is the black lion chests. Or how about that random mount loot box controversy a while back? It's also why people spend stupid amounts of money on gems like this case As bad as WoW's cash shop is. It pales in comparison to GW2's predatory setup. Once you hit GW2's end game, Fashion Wars is its major draw, and where is most of the fashion kept at? Funneling you right towards the cash shop where you'll either endure the enormous gold grind to gems and loathe the game for its time requirements. Or give in to paying money for ridiculously expensive items. WoW subs and expansions have the option to be paid in gold. I don't even see GW2's expansions having that same option. For all the faults WoW has and how poorly it is doing at the moment. Having a look at how GW2 is doing worse really speaks volumes in its current state.
  3. If you spend money to buy gems and purchase what the cash shop has on offer as it was intended. It is not value for money. If you do what I did and not spend money buying a single gem on principle. It is value for money. But not value for time.
  4. Shrug. They still pump out more content than GW2 does.
  5. Pretty sure you can just buy gems to gold, then pay players gold to carry you through the raids for legendary armor just as easily.
  6. You're acting like that is any different from GW2's "limited time" stuff that is also removed from the shop for scarcity.
  7. GW2 has been pay to win from day one. Converting gems to gold to buy any thing you want in game from the trading post or merchants with real money. Want a legendary weapon that has the best stats in the game? Bam! You win Gear Wars and Fashion Wars.
  8. WoW goes one step further. You can purchase any thing from the blizzard store (including subs and expansions) by buying tokens with gold. GW2 isn't special in that regard, nor is such a feature a positive.
  9. GW2's cash shop is down right predatory. SWTOR and ESO are pretty bad too. But compared to WoW and FF14? I don't think so. Sure WoW charges for their expansions and have a sub fee. But they bring more content, and their cash shop isn't charging real money for bank space, inventory space, infinite gathering tools, premium VIP areas, character creation slots, changing the look of your outfit, changing the look of your character, etc. Unless you play GW2 religiously and don't miss any of the season story unlocks, you're also paying an arm and a leg in gems for that as well. That's honestly worse than paying for an expansion. Only people who play GW2 continuously and nothing else will defend this.
  10. I look at the state of the game after returning. Guilds I am involved in are dead. Friends are all gone. Forum activity is dismal compared to other MMO's forum activity. The writing is on the wall. The same few will simply defend GW2 to the bitter end until shutdown. Rather than encourage improvement for the game.
  11. 1. Especially since PoF is not being offered with the preorder for EoD after PoF has been out for 4 years already. HoT was offered for free with PoF after just 2 years. They lost myself with good will for the game after HoT's train wreck release. Milk the game until it is dead it seems. Wildstar says hi.
  12. It means that HoT was comparable to a patch in other major MMOs.
  13. It comes down to the world when GW2 was in initial development before release was given great care and content. When it came to rebuilding LA. It was down to demands of content patch deadlines. Thus why we have the inferior LA today.
  14. This is your only post activity on the old forums. https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/members/Sobx-1758/showposts A single post in 2017.
  15. Then your forum activity doesn't reflect it and you have a poor memory. And I just did?
  16. Do you? Were you even around at HoT at launch? Also nice sneaky edit about instant gratification. But as some one with two legendary weapons that were both crafted from scratch, you're wrong again. Bugs and artificially extended content is far from crying about not getting instant gratification.
  17. Thank you. Didn't realized they kept the archives. Literally the first thread listed on old HoT discussion https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/hot/HoT-is-nothing-but-group-events-and This is a good one that was around launch. https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/hot/Loving-HoT-1 "After playing a bit more and realizing how little there actually is, you might feel different. Sorry." -Kaiyanwan.8521 This is a good thread that sums up what was wrong with HoT at the time. By yours truly. https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/This-game-does-not-value-your-time "Next topic is if this game is value for your money? The core game in the first couple of years of release. Yes. Yes it definitely was. Is the Heart of Thorns expansion? No. No it is definitely not. Especially with its detachment from the core game and basically changing the game for the worse in order to stretch out the thinly spread content. It should have been red flags when Arena Net advertised Season One as an ‘expansion worth’ of content." Could go on... https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/hot/So-freaking-bored Of course you have your valiant GW2 defenders in some of these threads too such as Dante, Linken and Vayne. Especially Vayne. He's always been that way, and expected nothing less of him. Never change Vayne. But the fact was HoT had little meaningful content that to actually do on launch. Especially with masteries that was either tact on recycled content, or achievements that were absurd to complete, usually to recycle content. Which left most people just map meta grinding all day long because of little else to do. The "difficulty" was just a barrier to stone wall players from tearing through the little content that there was. Either way. Resulting in people quitting. I don't see where I am wrong on this.
  18. Because the previous official forums that were active around that time got nuked. Else it wouldn't show myself as a 'recently joined.'
  19. Were they as good as the previous jumping puzzles? And how do you know this wasn't some thing he worked on before he left development?
  20. They quit because of lack of content to do outside of the metas. All there was to do was the metas.
  21. Yeah. People have already quit Guild Wars 2 en mass already it seems. Returned, only to find how bleak things are here. And previous issues that continue to hinder the game to this day are not helping. One of the things that burnt me out as a vet, was the excessive inventory management here.
  22. Think I understand it perfectly well. When HoT was first launched, it was content lite with only 4 new zones. It was an awful expansion upon launch. Many have quit over that expansion, and probably the reason why it became free with PoF only 2 years after it was released. Whilst it may be better today, it wasn't so much so back then.
  23. Guild Wars 2 always had a problem with junk filling up your bags, and also bags filling up your bags. All the clicking to just clean out your bags after just an hour of game play. My god, it's awful.
  24. Do some dailies. That's a good way to take small steps to get used to your class, whilst getting some thing out of it in the process.
